    10 days out west

I just got back from a family vacation. I took my wife and son on a big tour of US National Parks out west. We flew into Los Angeles, spent some time there, then did the tour. It ended up something like this: Los Angeles: Whale Watching boat tour. Kayaking with sea lions. Petersen car museum. La Brea Tar Pits. Hollywood sign from the observatory. Sequoia National Park/King's Canyon National Park (they connect): Hiking, exploring the giant trees and some mountain views. Death Valley: Driving the unpaved trails, some light hiking, star gazing, general sight seeing. Las Vegas area (including towns featured in Fallout: New Vegas. We went to Goodsprings and visited the bar the saloon is modeled after, went to Primm and saw the casinos and got some chips from Whisky Pete's, drove through the Mojave Preserve) St. George Utah/Zion National park. Canyon hiking, dinosaur track spotting, desert hiking Joshua Tree National Park: Light hiking, 107 degree weather Los Angeles: Autry Museum of the West, LA Zoo, Aquarium of the West, some light hiking. Santa Monica pier. Long Beach. Insert massive amount of visits to various taco trucks, Armenian bakeries, doughnut shops (seriously, LA has a butt ton of them from cheap-o to gourmet), and In N Out. LA traffic SUUUUCKS. I'm in no hurry to return to LA (or go through LAX again) but the trip was worth it and was a lot of fun.

  4. I thought this was gonna be a free event - I didn't realise it was a full price standalone title. I think this may struggle despite Ubisoft attaching the Rainbow Six name to it. They've had a terrible E3 really

  8. I sort of miss those days when getting something new was satisfying. But, no worries on your gear or light level. I just want to get enough PC people on to play together. A lot of the grind is easier to tolerate when you have friends playing with you.

  11. They made a £215,000,000 profit on the game and that's after the game was pulled and refunds were issued. They literally could have refunded every Playstation user and still come away in the green🤣

  12. Also @GazzaGarratt Battlefield is a funny one with private or custom games and with BF4 you had to make your own dedicated server.

  13. I'll be around (i've RSVP'd) but I do expect a little less attendance over the coming weeks with us all being able to get out abit more and with the Euros being on pretty much every night. I'm not doing an FG Friday this week as I doubt we'd get many actually playing the game although I know people like to watch it with others in the party chats.

  14. You'll get it for both, you know you can't be missing out on our private games...it'll probably be silly enough to lockout crossplay for that type of stuff like other games have.

    Euro 2020

It's like old Champions League games where they were sponsored by Heineken but the beer itself along with all other forms of alcohol were banned in the grounds by UEFA😂 Also reminds me of the irony with all these betting sponsors popping up where they say - 'for every £100 you bet a week, we'll give you £10 back but remember to bet wisely and safely'

    Euro 2020

I read somewhere that after Ronaldo removed the coke bottles from his press conference and told everyone to drink water, Coca-Cola lost a few billion off it's share price. It does make you laugh when you see these big sporting events being sponsored by such unhealthy beverages. Like McDonald's sponsoring the Olympics. Totally irrational 😁

  22. I loved the game mode but while I can appreciate this game, I don't have really any motivation to play it. For 20 bucks it would be worth it though.

    Humankind

The OpenDev map sort of wants me to stab my eyeballs out... mostly because I cannot stand being so close to other AIs immediately. There are 3 other AIs are literally surrounding me, and it's driving me to anger lol. Expanding your territory in Humankind is very tempered. Again, you cannot just build outposts then cities. You have to generate enough culture to do so. So, this run, I've focused more on Culture then Science. Doing a bit better. The banter with the AIs during negotiations are actually entertaining and not irritating like in Civ 6. Oh, and a la Endless Legend, there are choices to be made when stumbling on encampments or whatever. I definitely almost lost track of time last night while playing. I missed my normal bedtime for 5AM gym, so I skipped gym today haha.

  25. No sadly, it's an 8 year old game, way before crossplay became a thing. You should try the PC version some time to see how it feels😉
