This could've gone in my PPR but I suspect there will be a few others with the same thoughts so fuck it: thread. It'll come as no surprise to most that I'm just meh on console lately. It all started with Dave's PC when I was given some ridiculous last-gen hardware and had to make it all talk to each other, I thoroughly enjoyed it and these 980s in SLI absolutely shred anything I throw at them. On Medium on DayZ for example, at 1440p, I'm getting 90fps. I think the lowest it's been was 84 or so, so smoother as butter. Playing at 1440p is a game changer, I forgot how much I loved it. Anyway. I started a new character on WoW which started off just being a time killer for when folks aren't on or whatever but I'm really enjoying it again, granted it doesn't have the addiction it did years ago but if you're looking for a game for chilling and just roaming around, exploring, soaking in the lore and just enjoying the vast, (and I mean vast, one continent is more than both Destinys combined, and there are 4 of them) colourful, rich environments Blizzard has created. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I thoroughly enjoy it and it's well worth the fifteen bones a month. Then there's Star Citizen, which I was gifted about a year ago, but it just destroyed my PC to the point of having to do hard resets. 8gb just wasn't even close to being enough. Now I can play it, and play it at decent settings too, and it just highlights the limitations of consoles, both on the hardware front and controls front. I haven't signed on the playstation in ages. Destiny 2 is dead, the only game I could see myself playing is Broforce but even then it's a short-burst game for an hour or so and then it's enough. I was honestly bored shitless on the playstation. I was fed up of Density, CoD was decent for a bit but ultimately meh, Warframe is on PC and probably a million times better (haven't tried it, have it installed), played a bit of Division 1 but started a new dude and just wasn't feeling it. Apex legends, like CoD and all the other pointless games has no end game, no objectives, just spawn in, die, repeat. It's boring as fuck. Anthem? Well, we all know where that ended up. Ark has potential but like most survival games, they split the community. The lack of common goals means everyone's running around like headless chickens, then someone comes in and drops a freakin' shark with lazer beams and suddenly any goals you had to work towards were gone because now you just walk around the map zapping everything. The PC has really rejuvenated gaming for me and I haven't been able to get off it for ages, whether it's repeatedly committing suicide in DayZ to meet up with @crispymorgan and @phil bottle or just cruising around in WoW doing fuck all or exploring space with Phil, it's awesome and feels so much better than consoles. It's probably just me, but I'm enjoying it so whatevs mang.3 points -

State of the Game In this State of the Game Community Developer Chris Gansler and 3C designer, Fredrik Thylander talked about the changes that will be introduced with the “Invasion: Battle for D.C.” update on Friday. Invasion: Battle for D.C. Maintenance The Invasion: Battle for D.C. – Update will drop on Friday during the regular maintenance from 9:30 am CET – 12:30 CET that will last for about 3 hours. First Apparel Event With the “Invasion: Battle for D.C.” we will also get the first Apparel Event The Special Event will last for four weeks (April 5th – May 2nd) where players can get Special Event Caches. The Special Event Caches contain cool new outfits and other things like emotes. You can also get Masks from these caches. Everybody will get one Special Event Cache for free in the first week – if you log in before Thursday. Year 1 Pass owners get three additional free caches when they log in during the event. There will be ways to gain more free caches – like specific projects that you can finish. Special Event Caches don’t have any duplicates. => Weapon Skins => Masks Announced Bug Fixes When your Crafting Station is stuck on a lower World Tier, that will be fixed with this update. You will get a sensitivity slider for when you zoom in. Field of View slider will also be added with this update. There will be many more bug fixes that will be listed in the Patch Notes Balancing Changes With “Invasion: Battle for D.C.” we will also have the first balancing pass Keep in mind, it is very early in the lifecycle so this is a first step in balancing to address some peaks. There is also a lot of talk about PVP – this update will not focus specifically on PVP balance, this is something for a later date – but some of the small changes will, of course, impact PVP. The Sniper M700 and the Rifle MK17 will get a damage reduction. Crit Damage and Headshot Damage will be lowered across all existing gear, so if you have equipment with these stats on it, they will be different when you log in on Friday. “Safeguard Talent” (extra healing) will get an internal cooldown so that it can’t be up all the time Demolitionist Talent “Crisis Response” (when armor breaks you replenish your ammo) will also get an internal cooldown. Skills Changes Sniper Turret Sniper Turret has been reworked You will have a button above an enemy and the Turret will then shoot that NPC and it will automatically track it. When you aim at the same NPC you can also specifically control where the shot will go (headshot or weakpoint etc) That should make the Sniper Turret more accessible. Chem Launcher The handling of the Chem Launcher has been a bit awkward. Now when you activate the Chem Launcher, it will activate and you can use it like a weapon until you put it away. That should also give you more control about the skill FireFly Aiming mechanism has been reworked, so you can mark targets faster Skill Mods The Skill Mods have been revamped The Bonuses you get from the Skill Mods correlate now with the amount of Skill Power required to unlock them. They are now within the bounds of the Skill Power that you can get on your gear and they also changed the amount of Skill Power that you get on your gear. So even when you have less Skill Power on your gear when you log in on Friday, don't panic, you may be able to unlock a lot of mods that you could before. With these changes skill builds should become a lot more viable. Weapon Mods changes As of now, the Weapon Mods always had a positive or negative aspect on them. But that meant, what was designed as a reward for missions and activities could also have a very negative effect on your build That is why all the Weapon Mods have been rewamped: All weapon mods got new values, new positives, more in line what they would do in real life They also have lower values – since they don’t have their drawbacks anymore. The only time there are negatives now on the Weapon Mods is when there are multiple mods – like magazines – one of them will have higher positive values, but also some negative values. For every slot, there is a mod for every type of stat that has no negative values. Now you can choose the mods you want to use and that should also be more fun. Other Changes Sharpshooter Signature Weapon has a faster lock – on, so if you had the feeling that you often missed the shot with the signature weapon, this should be addressed. LVOA-C, the Lightweight M4, the Shotgun AA12, LMG MG5 got a buff Patch Notes They will be extensive, currently we have no exact date when they drop.2 points -

After the Ipswich weekend there was a few messages about MC and modded MC so thought we could have a thread on it. I’ve been quite enjoying playing the FTB Beyond pack recently. I played it some time ago but really didn’t explore a lot of the mods. I’ve built up quite a technical base currently but I want to try out a lot of magic based mods which I ignored previously. So does anyone else play modded? Can anyone recomend any specific mods or mod packs? I'm getting there (see below). Desk is coming next week and then I have to convince the wife to use more of our recent savings on a gaming chair I've found. Heres the deal for me. I've missed PC properly gaming but my heart has always been in consoles. My desk is coming with extra places for some of my old consoles too. It still remains the easiest accessible platform for alot of FGers and I've noticed lately that I've got that used to playing with everyone here I can't play on my own much at all. Destiny 2 bombed too hard before Forsaken and the reality of what's happened is we just haven't had that one or two games to reignite us. Remember, around Destiny we had Overwatch that kept us going for a very long time. I'm really happy that you're finally playing games again more than anything (and now you have a PC proper you can be round here more innit 😘). I dont want the "old days" back. They were ace moments and I'd rather say let's find the next new ones. And alot of them come from our grouping up nights on GTA, Modern Warfare, DriveClub, etc. All games accessible on PS4s. Maybe the PS5 will change where people go next but I'll be damned if I'm leaving my PS4 friends behind - theres too many that dont have PCs currently.1 point -

I'm cynical as fuck, it's a cross I bear. I realised that this was a crock of shit very soon after it was launched, something just always felt off. I always maintained that it was built as nothing more than a platform for microtransactions and even whinged like a little bitch about it on this very forum but not everyone felt the same way and I even had a pop at @GazzaGarratt about it because he's blind as a fucking bat likes to remain objective as far as games are concerned, and lo and behold, I was right. It's a fantastic but sad read that Jason Schrier has done. BioWare made the almightiest of screw ups and after reading all of this and understanding which bits are flat out lies and BS, it feels abit like a miracle that it got to 55 on Metacritic so far. Hearing how hard that EA Frostbite engine is to work with just makes you lose most interest in any updates to the game because the underlying problems cant really be solved. Casey Hudson (General Manager of BioWare) has come out to now acknowledge the report and that they need to and are acting on ways to improve the place for game developers. I think this will also start a ripple effect through EAs games where they use Frostbite as FIFA was already showing major signs of lacking gameplay and this sounds like clearly another reason why people are moving to alternative titles.1 point -

This was an insanely positive patch, like truly solid job from the team. My only gripe is MK17 changes may come a bit too soon rather than build up a few of the other rifles. Urban MDR would be second in line to this but paled in comparison to a Police MK17. FOV slider is amazing. ADS sensitivity is amazing. MOD COMPONENT CHANGES ARE AMAZING.1 point -

Haha I had forgotten about that. In the pack I’m playing now there is no treecapitator. So you have cut them down normally until you make a special ace that does it or an automatic one. I of course went for the automatic route so now have around 20,000 blocks of wood which I think will last me....maybe.1 point -

Full notes: The second Platform Update of DayZ is out on Steam (both the game update and server files update). Along with many quality of live improvements, fixes and tweaks, it reintroduces two .308 caliber weapons and what's arguably the most luxurious transport option the post-apocalyptic Chernarus offers: the mighty Olga 24 sedan. As a member I have the option to go but I might wait until all the fuss has died down. It'll be tourist and fairweather fandom hell for a while. Plus, I'm struggling to justify the spend these days.
