What are your thought on the latest installment to the Call of Duty series. Black Ops 4

I had no plans on getting this at all. However my oldest talked me into it and I’m surprised how well I like it. Played it about three hours tonight. Probably four MP games a three or four Blackout games. Bkackout is good. Like really good. I’m not into Battle Royal games at all and I really enjoyed this. He and I finished fourth in one match the eight in another.

MP feels solid. Still haven’t gotten used to healing yourself. Takes some getting used to. Leveling seems a little slow to start. Four MP games and I got to level seven. The couple of guns I’ve used seem good. Seem like a typical 3Arc gun play honestly. Score streaks seem strong. I recommend taking a launcher the Attack Chopper will do work if no one shoots it down. Specialist are definitely not over powered. Honestly seem a little weak compared to Blops 3.

The maps are great. 3Arc does the best job on map design in my opinion. Haven’t played all of them but did get to play Summit,Firing Range amd my favorite Slums. I know people bitch about old maps being brought back but they did a great job with these. Three of my favorites. Jungle can fuck off. Always hated that map.

I’ll  continue to play with him when we get a chance. Don’t know how much time I’ll put into it solo but if more people get it here it would definitely be fun grouping up again.

Only played the MP so far and I've already had enough of it.  I don't think I've ever seen a game where matches flow so badly, combat is so messy and maps are just littered with corners, headglitch spots and camping areas. The classic maps also demonstrate for me how bad the game plays when compared to the original Black Ops.  The bullet detection is the worst I have ever seen in the franchise where it takes an age to get a kill but you can get taken down in seemingly one bullet.  Treyarch have really gotten out of jail with this mess thanks to the fashionable Blackout, and I'll be trying that later. If that aspect is good, that's all I'll be playing pretty much.

I only managed to get on for half an hour last night but I enjoyed what I found. It was pretty smooth and I like the maps.

I seem to be in the mood to play COD again.

TTK may be an issue but I'll hold back on that until I get some proper time in.

Looking forward to figuring out the zombie mode.

Hit detection and one bullet insta-deaths are why I pretty much only play Hardcore in COD now. I recommend you try it. Core is unplayable for me now.

I'm probably going to have to revisit hardcore mode for the first time since the original Black Ops it's that bad. Just amazing that you shoot someone 5 times in the head and they don't die yet you can be shredded with 3 shots to the shins with full 150 health. It's borderline bullet-sponge at times.  I've also had a string of outrageous lucky kills which defy the netcode but I'm not accepting that as balancing itself out especially if this BS behaviour is also prominent in Blackout.

I've played about an hour and haven't experienced any issues with hit detection or weird one-hit deaths (knock on wood).

I played some BO3 last night and it's quite the switch from the leaping and wall running but I still think the pace is pretty good.

As always, would like to see more teammates PTFO... geez, the number of times I'm standing all alone defending an objective.

TTK is slower than I anticipated but I don't find it problematic. If anything, it allows me to get out of a jam more often than not. Still using low level guns so I expect the TTK will increase as mods are unlocked.

Family is leaving for the weekend tonight so I'm left to my own devices.  Send me an invite if any of you are online and see me and want to group up.

Yeah TTK is a little long for CoD but I’ve been playing Destiny so it hasn’t bothered me. The biggest thing to me is it rewards accuracy and head shots. You land a couple of headshots and you melt the other person.

Just tried a couple of Blackout matches and finished 6th and 5th with two kills in each game.  I think I'm going to enjoy this mode a lot more than the core multiplayer.  It's not as fast or as erratic plus ironically, this mode is far more tactical. It's also nice to play on a large map as opposed to these 3 lane shoeboxes.  Kills are very satisfying too.  I don't think I could play this over and over like the MP modes but could be great fun in half hour bursts here and there.

Player count seems to be 88 like the beginning of the beta which is great to start with but the mid-game is a bit barren as around 50 get eliminated before the end of the first circle and then you only have a handful fighting on a rather large landscape as the match slows to a crawl.  It will be interesting to see how this mode grows in time - I don't like Fortnite but Epic have done a marvelous job in developing the game from a technical perspective and keeping users constantly engaged with new ideas and appealing features.

Blackout is going to be a test for Treyarch to demonstrate their originality over time rather than just relying on copying other games.  The foundation is definitely in place and it still needs work but as long as it can keep people on board, this will be far more successful going forward than the MP IMO.

I really like it so far. My only concern is like James said are the maps are all pretty small. Seems like arcady to me and there's no choice but to just run around and get involved in the mayhem.

Eg Mw2 and BO you could rush, snipe, play tactical etc, as there was places you could setup with claymores, or flank, or long line of sight to snipe, but on this cod it's pretty much run around mayhem, like a halo type

I'm still enjoying playing it, played about 2 hours yesterday and rank 15 but I won't be able to jump on properly for another session till mid week. Usually id be pissed as with other cods I'd like to rank up quick as possible at the start, but although it's day one, I don't have that urge to jump on and play it for hours at a time

I got to level 19 at the end of day one and my experience did improve over the course of the day but I still have mixed feelings about the overall game. Getting started was quite tough especially against higher ranked players but now I've unlocked a couple of decent AR's and SMG's plus some attachments and perks; I feel I can compete better. Leveling seems very slow so you just have to weather early pressure to unlock the create a class and then some decent guns.

Matches all kinda play out the same though - fast paced, erratic and pure carnage. For a game with such tactical elements; all of those really go out of the window particularly with randoms in the core playlists.  I do miss the variety that Dan mentioned above with different styles of play on each map on the old games but the best way to keep things fresh here is to alternate the specialists and just have fun with those.

My biggest complaint is the spawns are fucking horrible. Like I’ve actually never seen them this bad. What’s the point of a beta?

Another minor  complaint is that SMGs are rather weak. If you run into someone with body armor you was as well kiss your ass good bye. You aren’t winking that fight

What game modes are you playing? I found it pretty one dimensional as just mayhem running around with TDM but after playing some DOM and Control it seems a little better in terms of playing tactical and map awareness rather than just running around. Although sniping as I know (holding down a position or back of map) seems to be dead. Haven't played all the maps yet though so maybe there will be some variation that I'm yet to discover

Spawns are absolutely horrendous to the extent, I'd rather join at a becon with a 'danger' warning rather than trust the standard spawn that the game gives. Even on the bigger maps I find myself spawning in front of people and getting shot from behind.  The kick in the teeth is that the map prior shows plenty of safe spaces which you never get.

@J4MES OX4D are you playing on PC

I'm on PS4 temporarily until my PSN time card runs out and then I'll make a decision whether to carry on with a full PSN membership on a console that hasn't worked properly for years or buy the PC version which is great for Battle Royale but doesn't have a big MP population.  I would like to stick with PS4 in all honesty but I'll probably have to bite the bullet and get a Pro in the sale as the original one is showing its age plus mine is on its last legs as it is!

I've only been doing Chaos TDM/KC but will have to look at the other modes for a change of pace. Just hope I'm on teams where they play the bloody objective - even playing kill confirmed; walking 5 yards to pick up a crucial tag is too much for some players. There's always some douche on the leaderboard who has 34 kills but under 5 tags and is 4th on the team!

I don’t go anywhere near don solo. Mostly KC

Insta death and enemies spawning in my arsehole seems to be the name of the game at the moment. Also getting a number of deaths were the bloke has been shooting my legs but is recording it as a headshot???

Typical start to most call of duties were everybody is sitting in corners as well.

You'll have to add me and play a few games together mate, I hate playing objective games solo [emoji23]

Played a few matches of HC KC this morning just to see how it flowed and felt. Definitely like the feel of it where you don’t have to worry about healing yourself, winning 1v2 gun fights amd the increased health. May be what I play from now on

I played a few games last night. Played the Chaos TeDiuM playlist first. The first couple of games were fine and then I suddenly couldn't kill a single fucking person. Shoot first/die first is back! Typical COD. But I'd say Core is more playable in this game than it has been for quite a long time.

I then tried some HC and it was better. Had a decent game on Summit. Played a match on the Arsenal and some players on the other team were running around with one of the shotguns and they were fucking ridiculous! They jump around a corner, fire in your general direction and there was fuck all you could do about it. So I can't wait to unlock the shotguns! And the Recon specialist is awesome for HC as well.

Although I wasn't keen on the maps in the beta I've grown to like them. Much better than the turds in WW2.

What's difference between TDM and Chaos TDM?

Chaos TDM is a mix of Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed with 6v6 and you can have 2 of the same specialists on the same team. The standard TDM and KC modes which you can only select individually in the HC playlists I think.

*Edit ignore that - I've just seen on a video you can select each mode individually in core also but it's harder to navigate in the packed menus which is why I failed to locate it so far! My game just defaulted to Chaos TDM so I've been playing that and it seems very popular. May try 5v5 later to see how it plays - I imagine it'll be more calm and balanced for sure!

According to thunder 5v5 tdm is where it's most sweaty, he's gone to chaos stating it's more relaxed ?

I just played a 5v5 DOM match with Dan94 against a team of  high ranked g-fueled Mountain Dew Dorito tryhards and it was even more frantic than 6v6.

Chaos TDM may have two more players and be crazy but that is definitely where the pure fun seems to lie. 5v5 is more competitive, objective focused and strategic but you no doubt run into 'pro' teams, stompers and general sweaties.

It was entertaining as we done them 200v199 in the last second whilst they were spawn trapping. I clinched B with a trip mine to turn the game around and then saved it with an RCXD whilst we were pinned back in our spawn again! Didn't help that it was 4v5 for a third of the game either in their favour.

If you're running solo, definitely Chaos TDM is the place to go despite the messy carnage - 5v5 ironically seems even more crazy.

Also dying to someone that always seems to have 10 health remaining quite a lot....

I found that too but I think it's part of the learning curve the game wants to take you through.

I turned it on for the first time last night and had a few games with Euan @Chookes and Alex @D4rk_Uprising01.

Overall opinion is - way better than most people think.

Played some Control and Search and Destroy on Core. Also a few games of Blackout.

Core was actually pretty decent. It does feel like you come off second best to start with but without having a custom class and weapon attachments is probably why it feels like that.

I'm with @TigerBurge when he says it's very rewarding on headshots. TTK isn't too bad as I far prefer Destiny PvP timings so it's now more of just learning the maps whilst finding a gun to warm to.

Blackout really did impress me. It isn't for the aggressive, out and out CoD player that wants action non-stop. It feels like it hits the sweet spot between Fortnite and PUBG. Need to play more to understand menu and UI navigation but all in all, a very solid game.

Reminded me of how much fun we had when we all had BO3 and the potential of having fat more fun on this one.
