Too little too late maybe? Imagine if they adopted this with BO1 or BO2, or even MW2, please let this franchise die already,, please let this franchise die already,, please let this franchise die already,, please let this franchise die already, or MW3. Keep supporting those games, adding maps etc and they could've ran for years :(

The problem is COD was nicely varied on the old 360/PS3 gen where people were confident in the series every year and were happy with a new game at the time. Nowadays every game they release isn't good enough and can't retain a decent population, so people are always hoping and hyping for the next release so there hasn't been one concrete game that would capture a wide audience for a substantial period of time where Activision could support it for years.

With BO4 being built more around the competitive element when the population is primarily casual; a lot of players have already been alienated at this design focus so once again, we'll likely have another COD game that fails to capture a significant audience and not be viable after Christmas let alone a full one year cycle or beyond.

COD's been so focused on its era and supply drops this gen that it's forgot how to truly innovate in other aspects and now it's playing catch-up and having to poach from other games which are far more established in terms of population, ongoing viewership interest and income. Until the franchise actually produces a good game for starters; only then can they build from that and I simply don't think Activision can trust their developers to do this which is why an annual release remains their strategy.

Rumours are that maps will be free in this game and there may be a season pass but only for Zombies. If this turns out to be true then that's a step in the right direction and makes the game more appealing to me.

Yep and hopefully we get more than 9 pissing maps this time too. It's a sensible decision really if true as the recent COD games have been dead by the time the second DLC pack has dropped. One new map a month or something would be ideal and wouldn't split the player base or restrict matchmaking or map rotation. The standard COD season pass format was getting very tiresome and wasn't worth the price.

I've seen that we will be getting one map a month or maybe even 2. I hope this is true as it will keep the game fresh. Being a Hardcore player was a nightmare with map packs as well as it just made them pointless.

Yep, even the core playlists of TDM and DOM on the likes of Infinite Warfare struggled to get games going on DLC maps because of the low content sales and existing population. People were buying the new maps and not even being able to play on them especially when they were injected into the main rotation.

Back when you had 750,000-1m online at a time, you didn't have to worry and could easily get a game going on any map and any mode at any time but now what's left of the player base is split more than ever with low amount of players, DLC owners and then you have the SBMM also stifling the chances.

Free maps is sensible and long overdue.

I've managed to watch a fair few of the gameplay videos from the event and I must say the game seems to play reasonably well and the maps look good. The trailer certainly doesn't do the gameplay justice. Still not sure if the competitive nature of the game is for me but even with the sweeping changes, there could still be a decent COD experience in there. Be good to see more at E3.

The trailer doesn’t do it justice at all. Watched several videos on it and all people say the same thing. It’s really good but the health regen system sucks. Hopefully they will change that. That said it’s 3arc so yeah they won’t

I don't understand what they are going for with the health system in all honesty - everyone has said that the regen back to 150 is instantaneous and only requires one button press of L1. Seems very generous indeed but I get the feeling that Treyarch think it's harder and takes more skill than the auto regeneration!? Defensive players, headglitchers and campers will have a field day with this especially if they have a team in tandem doing health boosts for them to 200.

Very strange decision and what's happening about non-lethals - is it another button or are we only allowed to select lethal or non-lethal now?

Seeing the Throwback Thursday thread has made me miss theatre mode :(

Anyone know if it'll be coming back for BO4?

I'm expecting it to be as it has been in all the Black Ops games and Treyarch are quite thorough with their features.

Here's hoping! I don't have a capture card or anything so was nice to be able to record/upload gameplays from the past

I see quickscoping will be aplenty in BO4.  Seeing snipers have insta ads really puts me off this game.

One thing I think they should do is make sniper rifles 'heavy', like the LMG's are/used to be. Would be much more realistic and also harder for quickscopers to just run around, jump off stuff etc...

Will never happen though, because as we've seen already the developers are catering towards the competitive side and wouldn't want to upset the OpTic and FaZe type communities...

That's the main thing that killed ww2 for me and with them saying ttk will be slower in bo4 one hit quickscoping could be game breaking.

150 health but snipers are OHK anywhere on the body it seems. Treyarch toned down sniping in BO1 after MW 2 but they upset so many quickscopers that ever since, sniping has been prominent and very easy. Even without aim assist now, sniping looks easy to pull off still.

The one thing that's worse than getting killed by a quickscoper is having quickscopers on your team going 5-23 trying to get that montage clip. The fact that the maps are so fucking small now, there is no logic to having snipers in the game at all other than for the premise of quickscoping which is not using the gun as intended - this was an SOH exploit from the old MW days that for some reason has been carried through numerous COD games when it should have been eliminated and not encouraged.

Most of the quickscope community are now grown up or are playing Fortnite and have long abandoned Call of Duty. They don't need to be catered to anymore.

PS4 has a really good recording option with a press of a button. I also use SharePlay which packages them up and easily uploads them to YouTube.

Surely they'll recognise the body hit can't be a OHK?

I'm excited to give it a go. BO3 had many positives from the maps to the guns. The overall gameplay can't be much different to the previous game by Treyarch.

I watched a video going on about this and they said it's very unfair as it takes you longer to kill players now but snipers are still a OHK. So anybody with a sniper now has a massive advantage as they have longer to get a hit on you before they die.

Exactly. You could land 6 hits against a user with 150 health and not kill them then they shoot you once in the shin with a sniper and you die. They can then press L1 and heal straight to 150 in a second whilst you have to respawn. The quick ADS and high rate of fire on the snipers (lol) will make it easier than ever for quickscopers.

Just imagine having a couple of snipers headglitching using the specialists deployable wall shield over an objective with medic health boosters behind them - they'd be nigh-impossible to kill and any hits you land they can counter with an instant health regen. The amount of potential exploits in this game is very concerning.

Never tried it tbf - ill give it a go sometime :)

So 4 of the launch maps are just remade old maps. Activision are proper taking the piss with this game. No campaign and now just chucking in old maps and yet they're still charging full price! Cheeky fuckers.

And just what in the fuck is going on at Treyarch?! 3 years to make this game and they can't make enough new maps for the games release?

The main attraction for me is to see what they've done with Battle Royale. Seriously intrigued.

I'd expect it will be at E3 Dan. Not long to wait.
