The Irishman. Fucking great... There's a hell of a lot of talking but with Pachino and DeNitro it still kept me intrigued through the whole 3 hours and 20 something minutes.

Yes, it is a loooong movie and again with a lot of talking but this is a masterpiece that Scorsese has cooked up and well worth the time if you like mafia movies.
I'm looking forward to watching it. Seeing Pesci, DeNitro and Al P together, can't wait!

Aladdin (2019).  I wasn't sure what I was going to make of Will Smith playing the Genie, he did give us some laughs throughout.  I'm overall surprised the movie was very enjoyable to watch.  The singing and some songs was a little naff but a very quality live action.

I watched Heat again last night - a long movie but a spectacular one with one of the strongest casts imaginable. Some great action and a lot of the movie inspired GTA V.

Great film, I remember the build up to it being made, as it was rare for Robert and Al to be in the same film. Some quality performances.

The Lion King (2019), arrived on Now TV today.

I love the original, first movie I ever remember being taken to the cinema to watch and my favourite Disney movie of all time.

I'm bitterly disappointed, this movie is better when you completely forget about the original.

Voice acting is subpar, lacks any real emotion that is felt through the original, the songs / singing sound weak, the first hyena scene would give a kid nightmares. Really poor attempt to cash in on an iconic franchise.

The CGI looks pretty good, they just look weird as it isn't as I remember them.

This movie is clearly going to be decent for newer generations who hadn't grown up with the originals. Just isn't for me.

Not impressed 4/10

Their problem was they wanted it to look so realistic that they screwed themselves when ever the animals talked. You'll never be able to get realistic animal faces portraying emotion, our brains won't allow it. But hey it's like the saying goes, "Mo' money, mo' money" (Disney adapted the saying as well)

Independence Day Resurgence was on last night and I have to say that it is one of the worst films I have watched in years, on par with the god awful fifth Die Hard film.

The original Independence Day was an absolute blockbuster film and bloody entertaining but I can't believe how badly they did with the sequel. It's sitting at about 32 on Metacritic and I'm just wondering how it managed to get such a high score😎

Pikachu Detective as it's just hit NowTV.  I actually enjoyed this.

Caught half of it just now and kids seemed to enjoy but I'll have to rewatch from the start.

I started all the Marvel Cinematic Universe since I got Disney Plus. Last few days we've watched Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America and the First Avengers just this morning. Have tons more appreciation for how they made the initial movies. I even forgot Kenneth Branagh directed Thor. Such a shame Hulk didn't get a proper first film with Mark Ruffalo. You can also forget how much Black Widow played huge roles throughout the movies.

Iron Man 3 next I believe.

Sorry the only trilogy star wars movies worth watching 😁

If you haven't already, I'd recommend looking in to Harmy's despecialised trilogy or Project 4k77, Project 4k80* and Project 4k83.  Harmy's trilogy is 1080p HD while the obvious named project 4k are 4k.  They're both taken from the original original trilogy film reels - so no added scenes, CGI bullshit, Han shoots first etc. - and cleaned up, colour corrected etc.

* Project 4k80 isn't complete yet but the others are.

I've been doing the exact same thing since Disney+ launched.  I've been watching a movie every night so far.  I've watched the following;

Captain America: The First Avenger
Captain Marvel
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
The Incredible Hulk
Thor
The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Thor: Dark World
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Captain America: Civil War
Spider-Man: Homecoming

Are you using this guide for which movies to watch in which order?

Here’s a chronological guide to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

Love Iron Man movies, first Captain America and The Hulk are some of the weakest. I enjoyed Captain Marvel and Ant Man is pretty decent.  Guardians of the Galaxy are great movies.  Age of Ultron I didn't feel was all that great, just mostly great to look at.  Civil War I liked and Homecoming is great.  Love the Thor movies but Thor's universe is the one I feel is the hardest to get a grasp on understanding.

Little thing to note also, The Hulk, Homecoming and Far From Home aren't on Disney+.  Currently you can watch The Hulk and Far From Home on NowTV but I don't think Homecoming is streaming anywhere.  I ended up buying it digitally on Sky Store.

I think I’ve watched all the Star Wars films including rogue one and Han Solo, and all the marvel films upto and including Spider-Man far from home (which if I’m honest i was a little disappointed with the mandarin level bad guy and why I actually prefer the animated Spider-Man:into the spider verse film) since the ‘great lock down’. Think Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones will be next.

Also need to watch the Irishmen

Not watching Hulk because i've never felt its part of the MCU. Funnily enough, I couldn't remember Thor: Dark World and was impressed by it, probably more so now i can understand all the connections throughout the films. Even if you don't like Marvel films, you have to give them huge credit for how so many things that link up in such a smart, subtle way.

We've just watched Thor: Ragnarok (again) as we were up to this one in the release order. Such an awesome film, the sarcastic comedy makes it stand out as one of the best. Korg is class:

I'm hoping we can use a weekend day to watch Infinity War and Endgame altogether, with Captain Marvel thrown in there to watch quickly, cos we're not a fan of that one anyway.

Since the begining of march i have watched.

TV series'

Battle star galactica the remake tv series which i watch at least once a year some times twice a year.

Mortal kombat conquest.

This is so bad its good and can tell it's amed for males due to the fact the females in it are wearing next to nothing and the sex slaves love the fact that they are sex slaves 😂

Mortal kombat defenders of the realm

Just a cartoon version of what happend after the ML films.

Films

Gangs of new york.

One of leos better films

Rocky all 6 films then followed by bother creed films.

Love thes films can't get enough even if they are dated.

Scum

An old film from in the 70's based in a borstal and this is one film i alway tell people to watch.

Dog pound

A remake of scum and a very good one at that and its almost the same as scum with only small changes

Prometheus then alien covenant

A great way to start how it all started.

the 4 alien films and after each one the directors cuts

The 5 original planet of the apes films then the remake and the 3 rebooted films

One of the best films sets out there IMO.

Ad astra

i rather enjoyed this its not the normnal bard pitt film more like he has daddy issues but non the less a good film

Annihilation

Its a hit and miss this one you either like it or love it story can be hard to follow.

San andreas

My wife really enjoys Planet of the Apes but I struggle to get into it - I think its because its very post-apocalyptic in a bad way for us humans. Probably why I dislike most disaster films too.

I heard mix reviews about Ad Astra but you've twisted my arm to take a chance on it.

You will have to let me know what you think of it.

Today i put on battlestart galactica blood and chrome.

Really good back story even if it is a filler and bleeding the TV show to the max but the ending is almost the start of the skin jobs.

Robocop. Love the religious symbolism of death and resurrection realized in a science-fiction setting. I also like how Robocop / Alex Murphy liberates himself from his programming and redeems his humanity. It's a true psychological parable transmitted as an action flick with satire and social criticism.

I enjoyed the new Robocop but in a weird I kinda didn't like how much of him was left. And i'm not sure why that bothered me much, maybe because I wanted him to feel and look more 50/50 human/robot type of thing.

I re-watched Jack Reacher - Never Go Back as its on Netflix recently. A bit more of a raw action hero which I tend to like because it shows he has his weaknesses, like Starlord or Indiana Jones. Well made, Tom Cruise is definitely a little different to what we usually see in Mission Impossible films.

That's what I like about sci fi when its done well, it should be thought provoking. You find that more in the literature though. Ray Bradbury's stories of humans visiting Mars are incredible for their critique of the human species, considering the times they were written, as one example of many, particularly the early sci fi writers.

I always have to watch a film series so I'm going through the marvel MCU set and I'm 17 movies in with 5 to go ending with avengers end game.

There is 1 film after end game but as there no connection to end game really might not watch it.

My next set is my zombie film collection.

I'm help run a movie group on Facebook which I've told them I will do recorded reviews and I'm thinking about uploading them to YouTube which I'm not sure yet what's your opinion on that.

My zombie film collection so far.

I think there's just over 100.

I say why not mate, nothing wrong with sharing your opinion out there. I think the FG Film Club shows that something a little different and fun around all the games we play (and isolation) is good when people interact and mention what they liked/disliked about it - usually watching things years later can give you different perspectives and pick up extra little added bonuses. You doing something similar may help peak interest in other films people may have dismissed in the past. You can always help support me pick some films for future weeks at FG mate. I'd love some support on it.
