I would be upset too, however the draw of battlefield (much like COD and such) has never been the single player....

The rumblings come out of play tests and such are quite positive on the multiplayer front and I am decided on picking it up. I can't see them getting it as wrong as the last game, it won't be quite Battlefield as I have always loved it with the obvious influences from ex Call of Duty people and such but I can see it being a bit of a fairly enjoyable middle ground and certainly better than the rubbish that the latest Call of Duty is looking like.

I miss the days when developers would just throw all the content in day one and people would be happy playing for months. This seasonal shite is so tiresome now.

you need your herbal tea grandpa :D. (I totally agree with you 🥷)

By the way, that reminds me that I'm waiting for BULKHEAD's game. They're developing a game similar to BF.

They already released Battalion 1944, a game similar to Cod 4 Promod, which was excellent but unfortunately died a while ago.

If it could be a future competitor to BF, that would be good !

I still haven't pre-ordered. It'll probably go down to the wire. I have very little hype for this but a part of me knows there isn't many good games coming this year and it'll be a good time filler that is popular. I also have a bit of money left in my Steam Wallet that could go towards it. Think I could probably get satisfactory return on it even if the campaign is another miserable half-baked effort but I'm also worried for a lack of content. Everyone else seems really pumped for it but I'm just not.

I am cautiously optimistic, I want it to do well and I want it to be good however we obviously had our fingers burnt last time around.

I have intentionally bought physical on PS so I can sell it if it turns out crap.

That said my beta experience it felt like a middle ground with battlefield and COD so not quite Battlefield as I have always loved and enjoyed it but it has some of it in there so an improvement on the last game.

You say that but gamers have changed. They gorge content and their brains can't cope if the game looks the same as Day 1. They need/crave change. Its unreal to the extent this happens. People are quick to move on to something new so I get why developers release content over time. Also focuses the mind to build up to certain dates and events with friends. This ain't gonna change anytime soon given how long it takes to make a AAA game now.

I've ordered the game, comes tomorrow from Amazon. I like the amount of people talking about this of late. We should embrace that and try and get behind a solid game like this and give it some airtime. Don't think I've played another BF game where the gunplay comes anywhere near BF6.

5/10 for the campaign and I must admit, that's actually higher than I was expecting.

Battlefield 6's campaign is a safe, dull reimagining of what the series once was, rather than a bold reinvention of what it could be.

Probably shouldn't have bothered with it really. I also don't understand why they take this half-baked direction and have done since BF1. Just like MW3 2023, it's just generic and has no substance. Not even sure how developers concoct such pointless shit.

You never know, it might be half decent. There's no guarantee the IGN reviewer even bothered to play it 🙃

I did pick this up, but I'm trying to finish Ghost of Yotei first.  I'm actually shocked the file size wasn't as big as I thought.   Now, I will read the rest of this thread.  Lol. Sorry, I've been MIA like a mudda fugga.  🤪

I grabbed this in the end and they made some good changes since the beta. It's been quite an enjoyable weekend with no real server problems or any major complaints. Not sure how much staying power the game will have with this pool of maps but there is just about enough content and stuff to do. The progression and unlock system is a carbon-copy of Call of Duty and the gunplay seems a mix of COD and BF. This is definitely the easiest Battlefield game I have ever played and any experienced FPS player will absolutely shred most of the time. The maps are all decent enough but the bigger ones really shine. The New York ones are decent too and hopefully we'll see naval and more snow ones coming up. Operation Firestorm feels off though and a bit unbalanced which is a shame though. Game runs pretty well which is a bonus too!

I am having a lot of fun with this game, it's not quite old Battlefield but it's got some of the good aspects of it.

Firestorm is one of my least enjoyed maps purely because of the snipers sitting on the fekkin tower. I think they should increase the bullet drop on sniper's to add some more skill to them and that would probably help resolve my gripes with it.

Generally the maps are pretty good, I really like Manhattan with the bridge and generally the gameplay is pretty good, I am finishing in the top 4 or 5 spaces most matches so I haven't lost my edge with the Battlefield games which is always a plus. I have not used tanks as much as I did on the past few games either. I think you can see a lot of COD players on the game, the way they move, the lack of utilising the classes, videos online moaning about mines and such and there is often a lack of thinking about how you play, understanding that taking bases closer to enemy HQ in some game modes pulls enemies towards them allowing your team to recapture bases and such.

In addition I have also been playing with map editor, it's a bit fiddly but I am getting used to it and despite it's crudeness in terms of just plonking objects down I had my first map published last night so I can now host it in portal. I have every intention to try and create some smaller COD influenced maps just for FG use and maybe we could get them going on FG Friday's if anyone's interested?

I've seen Shipment is already up in Portal lol @Luseth

I've only been playing the campaign so far but I'll try multiplayer once I'm done with that.

I bought the digital copy because game share effectively halves the price.  Not played it yet, but looking forward to getting a regular squad.

I won't lie that video is a hard watch, it's just some guy ranting about a game he does not like and complaining that people are enjoying it...

It was never going to be quite old school battlefield in part due to the people that have recently been employed to try and reboot the series and in part due to gamers wants being very different today. I think the biggest criticism currently for me is the maps, if you compare to old school Battlefield the maps are actually somewhat lacking. Operation firestorm (though I am not such a fan) is much more reminiscent of the series, plenty of infantry combat spaces but a larger map with scope for vehicles to really be utilised. They feel very COD esque generally but I understand why because of the people making the game and trying to lure in new fans.

Server browser was taken out during the last game wasn't it? Portal will help to mitigate that I suppose and the complaint around skill based matchmaking, it is there but games are not prioritised on that. Heck if it was I think Macca, Lee and I would have been bumped right up to the best players last night as we finished 1, 2 & 3 almost every match.

My only other gripe and I had a play with it last night trying to unlock the spawn beacon but the assault class is kind of pointless and the shotgun is stupidly overpowered but then there are always balancing issues when a game like this is first launched so we will see how it is in a few weeks.

I may give the single player a go at some point, I am after a meaty rpg to play at the moment but nothing is really jumping out at me currently.

I get that but regardless he's not wrong we pay more money for less things, things that made the series great. I also think these days we've been given so many crap products we are happy with things being mediocre. It's a shame that as a franchise, much like CoD it's best years and games are behind it.

This is the game Call of Duty should have been in the past 3 years. As a Battlefield game, it's lost too much of its core DNA. It's still a good shooter that both COD and BF can enjoy but it really has blurred the lines and so many of these shooters have lost their identity for money and mass appeal. Once the honeymoon phase fizzles out the lack of content begins to burn here then I think the game will become more strained and people will be less forgiving. We also must not forget that the monetisation framework hasn't kicked in as of yet but that could put a further dampener on things.  Some people are already peeved at how similar to COD certain aspects are particularly with unlocks and cosmetics. EA and DICE have succeeded in what they intended to do though and I feel COD players will be more happy with this game than Battlefield veterans.
