  1. A lot of math functions are now library functions. People try to no re-invent the wheel as mentioned previously. What you need to learn is how to find and use these functions and subroutines. I've never used code academy so I am not aware of the content but I suspect it can be helpful. My kids took programming in High school with grade 10 math. They did fine with it and had some cool examples. My daughter even created a rather basic video game. I'm not try to brag, but that should give you an idea of the prerequisites in order to be able to code something. Also you are doing this to learn, so as long as you are persistent and somewhat enjoy it who cares if you make mistakes along the way, you probably will learn more from those then getting it right anyways. My opinion of programming is that you get good at it by doing it.
  2. That might even attract new members. I think Dave was considering it for the PC but so few of us play on the PC it was pretty difficult to get buy in. I'm still looking for a friken PS4 so I'm no help at the moment but I could be fun. I guess the problem would be NA vs Euro server also. Hopefully I can find a 1,000,000 ticket Metro Server so I can get that Dam F2000 assist challenge done Get a server for 3 months with everyone chipping in and see how it works out. I would be game assuming I can eventually get a dam PS4 I'm not bitter ...
  3. You'd have to be pretty strong for scientific applications but thankfully that isn't the majority of application. You don't have to be able to figure out the dot product of a 3 dimensional vector matrix to make a bird flap up and down
  4. Here you go me working. Be jealous of my superior good looks and beard. That hardware was demonstrated at public seminar I did. I would be capable of supporting internet traffic for about 8000 us ers.
  5. I'm really sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will all get better.
  6. I've played it and there are some better things and some that are less preferable so it balances out depending on what you like more. My biggest complaint about hardcore is spotting. It doesn't seem to work unless you are a recon. I suppose they do it that way so that each class can perform their intended roles better but if I see a guy running around I should be able to spot him at minimum for myself and my squad. I tend to prefer the gun play in HC. The guns are much more effective. There seems to be fewer servers however which is already a deterent playing out east. Our sever count already seems low and I have to play with west or Euro servers often
  7. So you know Kent, I have a PhD in electrical engineering and I do a lot of programming as well. I've also taught programming in college (over 20 years ago). I've programmed in 10 different languages (that I can think of anyways). My suggestions are based on a novice wanting to learn to program. I wouldn't recommend attempting some of the "sexier" more modern languages until you are comfortable with the programming. the two languages I suggested do not require a compiler which speeds things up considerable as you are simply trying to learn If you do want to start with a useful "structured" language then C++ it the one to do. Patrick
  8. you might want to look at this as a resource: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_software_development If you have never programmed before and want to learn to program first I would suggest you look at PERL and Tcl they are script based programming languages and tend to be free. A lot of the fundamentals are the same regardless of languages so it would be a start to do things that sorting lists, printing, handling variable, lists and arrays. JAVA would be the next one.
  9. Can blast barrels and shit with a tank. I started a number of fires without even knowing how. I've been in battle tanks however try to get another assignment done
  10. Not particularly but at least they work and I don't feel like throwing my controller at the TV because of connection issues
  11. Rank 39
  12. SA seems to cause stability problems. I was having a horrible time with SA. I finally said enough of that and played China rising. No problems at all. So I'll be playing CR for the time being, might try base game also to see. So the PC might be having the same problem I have been having on the PS3
  13. If you are going to ask a question like what is wrong with Ghost on a forum where clearly most of us no longer play you should expect comments you are not going to like if you happen to like the game. I believe that everyone that made statements about the game purchased the game and played the game. None of us said anything negative to those of you that still play the game before you went and asked what we thought was wrong with it.
  14. You have to scroll down and it isn't very visible
  15. I do have both. Can't remember when I last played or felt like playing Ghost however. What's wrong with Ghost, it's the same thing day after day after day. It doesn't take very long for it to get too repetitive and boring as far as I am concern. Why do I compare to BF4, because that seems to be the FPS game that most people on the forum have taken up instead of Ghost. GTAV would also be completely different, but people never seem to talk about that game anymore. I don't think anyone talks about that game being boring either
  16. Cod is always the same boring try to kill the other guys and camp to get my killstreaks shit. Games like BF3 and BF4 are more versatile where even if you can't constantly kill the enemy go can contribute and perhaps even lead your team to victory. You can heal, you can supply, you can repair, you can blow the hell out of vehicles, you can order the squad around and you can play the objective. You are actually rewarded pretty well for doing that. Often better than simply getting a kill. Spawns can be way better because recons can place a spawn point. You can spawn on teams mates, you can spawn on objectives (cause good players to play the objective to have the spawn point and make sure the enemy does not). I think I got to level 23 on Ghost and was totally bored of it. I know I can't play for more than an hours without being totally bored so why bother.
  17. Wow that 2nd phantom task is going to take forever
  18. Since you seem to have some support from your parents and you seem responsible enough I would suggest that you try and run your marketing business idea and see how it goes. Give yourself a timeline to determine success and if you meet it great if not reconsider. The internet is a beautiful tool if you use it well and you could create a sample portfolio and post it. Then send out links/information to different companies and see if there is interest in your work. If you are creative and people like what you do you should get some leads out of that. People will not necessarily know at that point you are just a young guy without a formal education. I would also suggest that you take some college classes. It will give you some contacts and it will hopefully give you some additional skills. It will also leave the door open should you decide to get a degree. I personally am in favor of degrees however. I have several and so does my wife. There isn't a one person in our entire family that doesn't have an advance professional degree and it's worked out marvelously for us. However I do understand that cost and the employment situation has changed drastically for young people. My son is planning for University next year and my daughter should follow in two. There are a number of jobs here in Canada were you simply cannot be considered unless you have a degree. It's something that you need to consider in the future.
  19. GOLD! Enough said
  20. You were saying The way your men played today our Girls could have beaten them
  21. Nope. Some of the maps are discounted but not premium. I think the are discounting the games and hoping to get additional revenue from the DLCs. I noticed the PS3 and XBOX version are cheaper as well on the store.
  22. It's on sale until Feb 28th if you happen to want to give the game a try on the PC.
  23. Play DOM or TDM?? I haven't tried it but that should make the map "smaller" to do it
  24. Unlocked forever. You should have DMRs also (unless you unlocked them all already)
  25. Go into battlelog, select store and download in your case. They were available in the store on the PS3 as well
