    Game releases today - doesn't look too bad actually and is only £35 with no subscription model either. Plays a bit like Valheim with a less colourful aesthetic. Not sure if I'll grab it but I can see the game being fairly popular and another potential nail in the WOW coffin.

    Just checked and Eidos Montreal were co-developers on Avengers with CD and Nixxes. Not sure who was to blame with Avengers but hopefully Eidos Montreal standalone will thrive like they did with the Deus Ex reboots. If it's single player then hopefully Square Enix wont botch the framework by adding MTX's.

    It certainly looks better than expected but I hope it's not another Marvel Avengers dogshit live service framework. I haven't really followed this game but if it's anything like the last then it'll probably turn into another post-launch catastrophe.

    PS4 can only crossplay with Xbox One - the old gen is watered down and limited to 64 players. The PS5, PC and Xbox Series X can crossplay on 128 player lobbies. PC will also have extensive dedicated server options on the side which will be limited to just Origin and Steam users. The game will not have a free upgrade either so those planning to get the old gen ones can only upgrade if they buy the £100 Gold/Premium edition otherwise they'll need a new copy on the side.     My extensive test above seemed to work. Not sure what caused that - it happened about 3 times over 3 days on my desktop Chrome. I'll report again if it happens once more.

    Last few days I've had some problems posting with Google Chrome - I go to submit and it just sticks with the button greyed out but nothing happens. Seems to work fine in Microsoft Edge but I hate using that because it sucks.

    I just wished they released an N64 mini. This looking very unlikely now. Oh well, back to emulating the games instead. Screw modern Nintendo!

    Catastrophic server issues just hours after launch. Nobody can connect, characters wiping and now maintenance is happening so online play is not possible until it’s resolved. Funny how the beta was perfect - we wouldn’t dream of accusing Activision of using cheap shite servers for the finished game after everyone has paid...

    Today is the day - Diablo 2 Resurrected finally releases. Funnily enough, this is probably the only game Blizzard have left that isn't heavily tarnished in some way but it's not even a day old yet. From what I've seen (and played in the beta), the game is solid and the developers have done a fine job. The only thing holding it back is the attached Battlenet and Activision bullshit but on the whole, this is about as good as it gets for a remastered game and it'll be interesting to see the overall reception. If the publishers keep their filthy noses out and just let players enjoy themselves then this could be welcome game in what is a tiresome range of Blizzard products these days. It's also on consoles too right off the bat and it seems they've done a good job with controller support too.

    Yeah, it's a shame WW3 didn't make a comeback sooner - seems the developers are hell bent on making it hard for themselves. Seems like they've made some sweeping improvements too but it may not be enought to sway people from Battlefield. A game like that relies on a big playerbase too and the more people apprehensive about jumping on board or coming back, the harder it is to grow and have basically a sustainable population from the get-go. Not sure how they'll go about it but if they can make a F2P model work then it may have a presence in the genre.

    That's really annoying because lots of content creators were saying this was a free upgrade and to celebrate its release on Steam. It probably was gonna be this but they decided at the 11th hour to milk it. Also kinda weird how they aren't advertising it as DLC or an expansion either and are giving the impression it's the base game with an upgrade included. No wonder the devs were being so evasive and I should've seen this coming.

    £31 on Steam which is rather pricey - £19.99 tops would've been about right especially as this game has been given away for free before. Even with a comprehensive update, it's asking too much.

    A new machine altogether is best. You have a fairly mid-range 1080p PC by today's standards I'd say. I'd keep your eyes on the market and if you go in with a reasonable budget of £1500, you could grab yourself a machine capable of running 4K fairly comfortable armed with the likes of a 3070. Individual components will probably remain quite pricey but places like Overlockers and Chillblast can build decent custom systems at great value for money. They know their stuff so you can trust what they throw together rather than these random builds by general retailers designed simply for profit.

    I watched some beta gameplay videos over the weekend and it seems the majority of streamers and content creators aren't impressed at all. Even the paid Activision actors are having a tough time lying to their viewer base and trying to convince them. From the brief time I played and what I saw watching others, the amount of times you get shot in the back and the side is insane. The audio is exceptionally weak and the really simple animations are embarrassing. One of the videos I saw did a basic comparison with MW2019 and it just puts into perspective how much work went into that compared to this especially regarding gun and character animations along with general environmental effects and presentation. Vanguard feels like one of those cheap asset flip rip-off in comparison and it's crazy they are passing this off as a full price next gen COD experience. I can't see how anyone playing this would have fun with its lackluster quality and wayward meta.
