  1. I thought I'd create a thread for any games you deem overrated past and present. I can think of a few off the top of my head that have achieved a ludicrous level of plaudits which I think were undeserved. The one game that really sticks out for me is Grand Theft Auto IV. I absolutely love GTA and to this day; SA is still one of the greatest games ever produced but IV really pained me. I desperately tried to get into it and enjoy it like past games and despite the huge graphical jump at the time on the 360; the more I played; the more I disliked it. The story was reasonable and a bit different from past games but the characters were more irritating than humorous. The side games with your cousin where extremely weak and annoying especially when he plagues your phone with calls. The missions themselves were really forgettable apart from the Three Leaf Clover bank job which was a brief highlight that landed you £250k in which you had little to buy with. The character mechanics were very cumbersome particularly in combat and the driving physics were far too heavy and just zapped of all fun. Liberty City did look stunning at the time but it's just a shame the vibrant city was bland and empty. You could get into a few buildings like shops but most were just scenery fillers. There were no gang territories or any extra gameplay layers to hold long term appeal and bringing back the girlfriend aspect just killed parts of the game as they desperately tried to add features aside from the main story. It didn't feel like a true GTA title which was redeemed years later with GTA V but even back then; I expected more as most positives from the series were not taken forward. The Ballad of Gay Tony added some colour and humour to a dreary and bland backdrop and was very enjoyable for a separate DLC narrative but the core GTA IV game was exceptionally poor IMO. I wouldn't say it's one of the worst games I've played but certainly one of the most disappointing. Even as an early gen game; it was exceptionally bland and didn't exceed the expectations or depth that San Andreas delivered.
  2. Champions League draw today! Funny how a select few of the teams in it are still breaching the FFP rules but it's all gone quiet in that respect
  3. Easy win for Burnley
  4. I've had a reasonable play-through of The Crew and it's a bit meh to be honest. It's a cheesy arcade racer with a lame story and really confusing interface. Very ambitious title but it's hard to follow what's going on and what you have to do between races. Go here, go there, go fucking everywhere, do this, do that and try and keep up else you just get confused and enraged. It may be an alpha but I can tell the optimisation is going to suck along with uPlay as expected. £49.99 on Steam is also extortionate.
  5. Neil Warnock named as Crystal Palace manager..again!
  6. I didn't realise that all the AW alpha gameplays taken from Gamescom were from a PC and not an Xbox One. Also the players were using the One controller but aim assist was disabled which is why most of them were struggling with accuracy. I know companies usually showcase games from a high-end PC but I thought COD was all about the Xbox and demonstrating games on there just like the E3 presentation?

  16. I think he's a bit past it after last season at Chelsea. He kinda belongs at a club like QPR who are willing to shell out money for shit *cough *cough Rio
  17. Can't believe Everton are signing Eto'o on a two year deal! Surely he'll have to take a 99% pay cut so they can afford him?
  18. Hope not! I think it will continue as normal with the public free streams but Amazon will probably add their own TV and movie streams on there too which may require a fee or subscription.
  19. Man Utd have agreed a £59.7m fee for Di Maria. His wages will further burn a massive hole and set a huge bar for future players coming in. Could also alienate others that are there on significantly less money.
  20. Googl.....Amazon WTF!? Didn't see that coming. Glad it's not going to Google though - they seem to own a piece of everything these days. They will probably be looking to expand their streaming on YouTube instead. $970,000,000 is a hell of a whack but could prove a popular move for Amazon in the long run.
