Unrelated to story but this is some pretty gripping stuff!

30 minutes and I was sick of it The combat feels so bland and boring when compared to the fast, fun, frenzied and funny mechanics we see in L4D2. It just feels like a shallow FPS lacking in content from the off. I can't see many sticking at it long and I don't think many people will grind out being a monster game by game as that aspect on your own is a yawnfest. £35-50 is a ludicrous price too - £15 tops and I'd still struggle to justify a purchase. If only Turtle Rock were still operating with Valve and the HL dev kits. Shame Valve don't like the number 3 really - Half Life 3, Portal 3, TF3 and L4D3

I played the Resident Evil reboot on there which is where the PC HD Remaster stems from and it was mindblowing back then so I'm really looking forward to playing this on Steam. Hopefully they'll remaster Resident Evil 0 (Zero) which was a Gamecube 'exclusive' back then too - few rumours suggesting this might happen also.

I still haven't bought it! I've never been so torn between getting a game and not especially with Resi Remastered out tomorrow. I desperately want to buy H1Z1 but something is holding me back... I'm sure i'll end up biting the bullet and buying it sometime this week though! -

If you check your Steam library in the client; you'll see that Evolve is available to install for closed beta participation. I think this is running until Monday. I also think this game will be a disastrous flop

Sony are offering refunds already https://twitter.com/j_smedley/status/556142754254704641 John Smedley has really inadvertently shot himself in the foot with that tweet regarding the P2W controversy! Nice gesture for them to do this but a lesson learned in misleading marketing it seems. Still; that should make the community a happier place as people are raging crazy today!

I recommend the old Total Wars Tommy if you want to give them a go. Agree with Bob about the games getting more complex in recent years. Total War Rome or Medieval are perfect games to get to grips with and despite them being older titles; they're the best in the series still for me.

Let us know how you get on Phil if you manage to connect to a server later - 30min to 5 hour wait for most people so far Certainly not the best of launches but I'll be keeping a close eye on this.

We still have Total War Attila next month coming out. Shame they botched up the release of Rome II but the Emperor Edition is supposed to be excellent so I may have to do a re-install. Can't wait for Warhammer - the Total War games at their best and by far the greatest strategy games on offer IMO. The mix of turn-based map management combined with real-time battles on a grand scale is just outstanding. Great way to sink 6 hours straight in a game

You played it yet Phil? A lot of negative reviews coming in complaining about a P2W structure and about devs 'lying'. Gonna have to sift though some first impressions just so I get the gist of it and if I've missed anything that might put me off...

Yep! It was either there or a restricted view in the shelf side - I sat behind the pole in the lower tier years and years back for the Arsenal game and it still cost something like £68 for the ticket I could see probably 30% of the pitch and 100% of the Arsehole fans That's much appreciated Phil - I have the day off but I don't know the crack work-wise next day but I'll keep you posted. If I have the Thursday off; I may take you up on your kind offer but if I don't; I'll have to race back to Oxford; get back at 2am and start getting ready for work Will let you know though
