  1. I just think value for money should be championed as a criteria for overall quality rather than just what's on offer in the time you play. I have certainly played my fair share of shorter games in the past and have really enjoyed them but I guess I just expect more bang for my buck these days. I played and finished Heavy Rain a few years ago when I borrowed my mates PS3 and it was a great experience and a one of a kind game that just had that something special in terms of the concept and movie-style presentation. I think I got about 12 hours out of it and that would be an exception if I did pay the full £30 price tag at the time but a game like The Order that has been developed for 5 years, had a nine-figure production value and can only muster a duration lasting one sitting in some instances; it just seems lackluster for 2015. I think value for money will certainly be something of a major consideration before people purchase and how the mainstream will judge the game.
  2. I pretty much operate on a £1 = 1 hour ratio when it comes to games and nowadays I don't look at games on overall quality, but what they actually over in terms of value for money. I bought Dying Light a few weeks back for £30 and got a return of 45 hours on campaign completion and I can still see another 15 hours left on side quests and achievements. I think that's a fantastic return for my money and the fact the game is of a very impressive quality is a massive bonus on top. I recently saw feedback of The Order 1886 from a YouTube uploader who got the game early. He was quite damning about the game as he finished it in just over 5 hours with key cutscenes also included in the time. For a game that took 5 years to produce and a cost of £50 to the player; this is a pitiful return for the game in lasting quality and value for money. It makes you wonder why they bothered producing the title. It equates to £10 an hour for the gamer and 1 year of development = 1 hour of gameplay. Pretty pathetic really especially with today's high expectations. I look back at the older Call of Duty titles and for £40 on each title; I probably had 500 hours of entertainment on each, so I had no concerns stumping up for the DLC as it was essentially bought and paid for and would give even more hours on top. Destiny may have been ridiculed in the media and I don't own the game but for £40 and the additional content; if you get 100 hours out of the product minimum, that is a bloody decent purchase regardless of any issues associated with it. I see people moan about games like DayZ who have 600+ hours on record all for just £20 and they still feel ripped off and letdown. That's kinda sad and maybe they should look at the bigger picture on how much they can get out of a game based on what they've financially committed to it. I once blew £7.49 (half price) on a game called Gone Home which I finished in 58 minutes - I felt robbed that I wasted my money and felt devastated for the people that spent £15 on it full price. This didn't stop IGN giving it a 9.5 as they failed to take into consideration the longevity and replayability. It's the type of game you only visit once and in one sitting so whether you spent £7.49 or £15 on it; the return rate is despicable. In this graphics-emphasised era of gaming; it seems so many developers have forgot to give us worthwhile games that represent a worthy purchase. It doesn't matter how good a game looks if it has no meat to it and with the lavish prices we have to pay; I think value for money is something that needs to be highlighted more than visuals and gameplay within the few hours on offer in certain titles. I can also spend £3.50 every 30 minutes down the pub and have a headache the next day so really; if a game can offer a lasting experience; I'd trump this aspect ahead of other criterias that may overlook value at the end of the day.
  3. I've just seen a few walkthroughs of the game from people who picked it up early and apparently you can finish it in 5 hours and the game is riddled with quick-time events and cutscenes. I seriously don't know why developers use quick-time events as they are painfully boring and 5 years of development for 5 measly hours is pretty crap in all honesty. At £50; not great value for money. After paying £30.80 for Dying Light and have had 45 hours out of it so far; that's a great return and what should be expected of all games these days.
  4. Dunno if anyone saw but Ubishafted confirmed yesterday that The Division will be released THIS year along with RB6 Siege and AC Victory. I expect we'll start seeing an aggressive promotional push of The Division in the coming months along with a centerpiece exhibit at E3. Really didn't think it would be out in 2015 as information and footage has been rather sparse but assuming there are no Watch Dogs-style delays; it'll be interesting to see if it can live up to its early hype.
  5. New trailer out today Cannot wait for this game! The scale is going to be amazing
  6. Woman aboard a plane orders flight to return to airport after being served nuts in a bag instead of a bowl. She was jailed for 1 year for her actions http://news.sky.com/story/1426058/korean-air-executive-jailed-over-nut-rage She must be 'nuts'; excuse the pun
  7. Yep! Grabbed the first two from Bundlestars last year. Didn't get Clear Sky though as I heard it wasn't as good but I may grab it if I can pick it up on its own. Cracking deal for those games though and I'm sure a few who haven't got them will be very interested
  8. Lambert sacked from Villa. No surprise there really. Team scores about 2 goals every 6 games and he decides to send Darren Bent on loan!
  9. Really good midweek sale on Steam at the minute called 'Mystery Midweek' - plenty of old-skool adventure and mystery titles along with a few new ones and classics. Picked up Gemini Rue yesterday which is supposed to be incredible
  10. Old thread resurrected http://forevergaming.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/946-favorite-video-game-music/?hl=soundtrack#entry28693
  11. Cannot believe Activision will charge $4.99 for the Atlas Gorge Map! It's a great addition to the core playlist but the price is a kick in the teeth. Nuketown 2025 and Free Fall were free a few months after release but this microtransaction is taking the piss.
  12. Championship is really entertaining at the moment and it'll be interesting to see if Bournemouth can maintain their place at the top as the season progresses. They've definitely impressed this year with some massive wins and a quality team. Derby have a cracking squad with considerable depth so they'll be prime contenders for a return. Middlesbrough have played some incredible football from what I've seen on the TV and they are another team that are right up there for a return. You can't even discount the chasing pack especially at this stage of the season. This shocked me earlier http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31359331
  13. Harry Kane on the left... ...
  14. Kowloon was amazing for Domination! My first match on there we won 200-199 and I went 49-39 or summat crazy and I was sweating come the end of the match especially after a tense finale where we nicked the middle flag with seconds to go. Also had a 200-14 win on there once where it was so easy; I had time to roll a cigarette mid game and still went flawless
  15. You also get random discounts on games but it's nothing on par with the Steam sale. It's stupidly good business from Valve because they just make a mint out of nothing and take a cut on every transaction in the community market. I went to sell a gun I earned from CSGO for £50 but the transaction value for the buyer would have been £57.50 so I then had to reduce it to £43.50 to make the price adjust to £50 meaning on that deal alone; Valve made £6.50 for doing sod all The concept is deeply flawed as well as the 'investment' and loyalty aspect of it. I'm just happy I've ranked without going out of pocket unlike this guy http://steamcommunity.com/id/palmdesert- he must be spending £50 per level now. The Gaben has him by the balls that's for sure
  16. 1. Black Ops 2. MW2 3. COD 4 4. World at War 5. Black Ops 2 6. AW 7. Call of Duty 8. COD 2 9. COD 3 10. MW3 And Ghosts doesn't even get on the list
  17. I'm boosting....legitimately Can't believe I reached level 50 just buy wheeling and dealing and it hasn't hardly cost a thing If you get your hands on some good items in certain games; you can flog them for quite a bit and use that as collateral to rank up although it is a bit pointless minus the few perks. I do however find the concept a bit stupid. I actually complained to Steam about this a while back after seeing the FAQ and they didn't respond unsurprisingly A snippet from the leveling section of the FAQ:- ''The Steam Level is a quick way for users to see how much someone has invested in their Steam account. We have just a few different ways to get badges right now, but we hope to expand that to include all the different ways users contribute'' So basically what Valve are saying; crafting badges demonstrates more of an investment than actually BUYING GAMES! I spent £70.00 before the Xmas sale on 3 games and earned 3XP for my troubles but on the same day I spent £0.25 on 4 trading cards to complete the set and earned 100XP - basically this seems to mean that the 25p I spent on cards is more worthy in their eyes and on my profile than investing in 3 games at a far greater expense. Also this means that 1,000 games at a possible cost of £30,000 equates to the same standard of investment as someone that can spend £2.50 on trading cards and still have the same level of loyalty - that's a £29,997.50 difference but in Steam's eyes; both players are equal They seriously need to address this bullshit system. My wallet funds are almost exhausted now so I'm done with ranking up and I don't have much in the kitty in terms of decent items left to flog into the community apart from some Black Ops 2 foils who's value has shrunk of late. I'll flog them in the next auction methinks!
  18. Good stuff! I charge for requests such as this so that's a tenner you owe me Have a read of this when you get a chance so you can decide what to do with your inventory if anything http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=145245037
  19. Mmm on the face of it he seems legit but if he wants ALL your Steam cards for just a few poxy backgrounds and emoticons; I smell a potential scammer or someone after something for practically nothing. You have about £10 worth of cards there and I can't see what items could compensate those in a trade - also you'd be exchanging about 100 items too plus the fact the emoticons are worth sod all so he'd probably have to give you 200 of them just to balance it out. I'm not sure about this Phil and you might end up getting the raw end of a deal. I'd delete and block personally. You are sitting on quite a few items in your inventory and you should sell them for wallet money or craft them into badges on set completion
  20. What's his name Phil? I'll see if he's legit. Don't get scammed though
  21. Unbelievable video
  22. Great to have Top Gear back! Loved the number plate gags in tribute to the Falklands saga on Sunday's episode
  23. Decent game tonight I thought. Bolton played really well and deserved the lead although the little shit dived for the penalty Red card changed the game and Liverpool were always going to win after they scored. Great goal by Phil Cooteeneeo to nick it. Bolton did defend we'll second half but it was only a matter of time until they were breached. Ref was dodgy throughout too
  24. Some footage has finally emerged of American Truck Simulator - the sequel to ETS2 which is one of the most successful and highly rated games on Steam. It's still in alpha and has no immediate fixed release date but it does seem to be coming along nicely. Not sure if the UI and menu is a placeholder or if they are going to keep it the same as ETS2 but either way; it'll be extremely polished when finished.
