The Stoicism philosophy is an interesting one. A lot of very right-wing groups pretend to follow it, eventhough their xenophobic politics are contrary to Stoicism.

Stoicism’s founder, Zeno of Citium, described his utopian vision for the perfect Stoic society as a place where there was no hierarchy, no private property, and no money, where there are no churches (temples), marriages, courts of law, or armies. Pretty close to anarchism funnily enough.

Any Aurelius I've come across seems to be standard common sense advice type stuff.

I'd be interested in your takes 🙂

this is spot on @phil bottle and sadly you are right about the right wing groups. What I like about stoicism is that it is very contrary to how life is set up right now.

Most people do not live their life according to a set of values or morals and always seek comfort rather than growth and development. Aurelius was a brutal person but he wanted great things for himself and the people of Rome - that’s what I admire

@Middle Class Caveman is a very decent DM, or was so in the little Cthulhu game we had. He had to cope with the cosmic madness also known as @Diddums

I'll be up for a game but until autumn I'm busy a lot of evenings so not sure about anything more than that.

I've played DnD, Warhammer, Call of Cthulhu and Paranoia mostly but I've never DMd personally and having a good DM is very important imo

Ah @phil bottle you are too kind!

I'm open to changing which night we play, just depends on when everyone is available.

As for a timespan, I'd like to see us complete a campaign and then see where we can go from there. This would probably mean sticking to it for a good couple of weeks — enough time for everyone to get introduced and then have a good go at a quest. Nothing concrete as this would probably depend on the DMs plan for the campaign and how quickly people get used to how things work. Plus I wouldn't want to put too much pressure on people being able to jump straight into it.

Some good house rules for something like this would be to give the DM permission to exclude the people from the quest (through death or other RP mean) if they don't turn up. Pre-notice can obviously help the DM in this regard. Good amount of breaks through the night can help too.

Obviously we're all friends so everything can be pretty lenient but we can't be taking the mickey, and I don't want to be chasing people like I do for MNF.

oh, I wrote my last reply before reading this. I’m happy to run a one shot (one and done) campaign for people to get a flavour but I can’t commit to another evening regularly as I already play every Tuesday.

The lab is a lurvley looking dog (one of my favourite breeds), I don't talk about my dog much, partly because she's a pain in the ass and partly because she is a sore reminder of what we lost. My wife bought her as she always had in her head that we would get our first daughter a dog when she grew up. Obviously we lost our first daughter but she got the dog immediately after and it helped her with her grief, the flipside is for me it just reminds me of the little one we lost.

That said she is a lovely dog just incredibly needy, anyway here is our Luna, she is a toy cockapoo I think?

I love this mate, only got round to being able to have time to digest it. I did try a High Performance organiser some years ago and it worked for a little bit - I think the challenge with capturing positive thoughts at the start and at the end of the day is something way harder than it sounds, especially if you are a person that wants to maximise everything out of every single day.

One day soon I'll try and grab it mate and take a good read. Hopefully it has had a decent start and I'm sure you've helped a few lives already based on the reviews on Amazon so far!! Love seeing you helping others buddy, can't get enough of that @Middle Class Caveman 👊❤️

It's a slow burner at the moment as i've done no marketing - i'm going to launch a youtube for it over the summer as I actually made it to help show the kids how to get a little business going!
