Rather than choosing my favourite and most iconic classic, I'm gonna select ones that would benefit and warrant more of a remaster. I'll also avoid games where I wouldn't be confident in finding a developer that could do the original justice.

I'd firstly say Command and Conquer: Generals. Shocked this hasn't been remastered or remade to a degree as it's a rare RTS that combines real world elements and is still immensely popular. EA gave us a solid remastering of the original and Red Alert almost 4 years ago but nothing since. Even a basic remaster with QoL changes and modern support would be huge and a massive win for the genre.

Lastly I will choose Resident Evil Code Veronica. I am confident this will be announced soon and it's the next logical one in Capcom's largely successful reboots. CV was a great game back on the Dreamcast and a huge step up visually compared to the likes of RE2 on the PS1. It had some massive flaws but these could easily be rectified.

Those two I would be very happy with and that's about it off the top of my head. Max Payne 1 & 2 are confirmed in development by Remedy now which is absolutely huge as the series is coming home to a developer who is getting better and better. I would've said that otherwise as long as Rockstar had no business in it but they are in the works it seems.

So, out of curiosity and with remakes and remasters being front and centre of most new releases. If you could have a true remake of any video game (and it has yet to be done) what would it be?

There are 2 for me, Final Fantasy IX (and there are rumours of this) and Skull Caps, the latter being a strategy game that I loved for a spell when I was younger. It was simple and great fun to play!

I do hope they ditch the "tank" controls, and have a more modern movement style.  Much like how Metroid Prime remastered added the dual stick controls, I feel this series of games would benefit from it.

I do want to jump straight on to the 2nd but will be going through them in order.
I'm all for remasters but it's the remakes as I find they have modernised them for today's gamers not the generation that grew up playing them.

Eraser is a classic, not watched it in years.
Seen it many a time, indeed one of Arnies best. Everything about the film is over the top and ridiculous, but in a good way.

Made a thread about this last year but not much new information has come to light since.
It's nice that Embracer have decided not to hold all their IP's they bought off Square Enix under ransom but the interest in this seems quite dry and games like Uncharted have far surpassed in narrative and mechanics. You can also buy the original Tomb Raider trilogy in the Steam sales for £2.49 so this will probably be a hard sell and lots of users already emulate these via Duckstation. It really depends on how well the games are modernised without losing the original feel but I dunno if the OG mechanics will translate well.

I'm personally looking to try and get my PS1 ready to be able to play the original ones again at some point over weekends. They were stellar games back in the day @slamminbones, I agree. For me it was actually the puzzles and abit of the story that sucked me in. I remember once as a teenager being stuck on Tomb Raider 3 round my Nan and Grandads house and all of a sudden I had my Dad, Grandad and Uncle trying to help me get past this certain bit to know where to go. Ahh the days before YouTube was a thing 😄

@WelchyTV, I think it is hard to like remasters if you never grew up with them as I feel like they are always targeted at the crowd that played them before. If you like puzzle type games and work past the graphics (because obviously it won't look and feel the latest gen), then I'd say its a cheap pick up to say the least. Also depends how much you enjoy playing those older games too. I think you have to have a certain brain now to get past the graphical side as lots of younger games switch off if it looks old, which you would expect some of this to be that way.

I personally don’t have any nostalgia for the Tomb Raider games as I never played them when I was younger. However I know they are beloved games and probably ones I should at least try! I will wait and see what the reaction is when they release, we all remember the poor launch of the GTA remasters!

On February 14th the first 3 games are coming out for ps4 and ps5 the price I think is pretty reasonable at 24.99.
I'm pretty hyped mainly for the 2nd game.
There's not many pictures and only a short clip so not much to go on.
    Anyone else picking these up.

I've don't think I could name 3 games coming out this year so I'll just see what drops. I'm mostly planning on playing older games - currently going through Uncharted 4 again, then will probably do Monster Hunter World and after that it'll be No One Lives Forever, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection version and then the PC decompile of Zelda Links Awakening. I've even got Blade Runner installed to go through again at some stage. Looking forward to saving another £300 on not buying new games!

It’s one of my favourite games of all time, any excuse to playthrough it again is great plus it’s only £10 if you already own the original game.

I’m also really excited for the new No Return mode they are adding, their take on the Rogue Like genre. I love the gameplay on TLOU2 and think it will suit the Rogue like genre well!

For me I think it’s going to be a year of catching up on my backlog of games! There aren’t too many games confirmed to release in 2024 that I’m excited about, off the top of my head it’s these:

    - The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
    - Hellblade 2
    - Avowed
    - Star War Outlaws

Suggestions are that the Indiana Jones game will release this year, but I’lol believe it when I see it! There’s also still a lot of games releasing that we didn’t even know yet, so here’s hoping it’ll be another great year!

I believe they called it Squadron 42 because that's how many years it was going to be before it's released. All jokes aside, that is a game i've been looking forward to for a while.

I feel like there's a lot a space type games coming out and i'm a bit spaced out.....as usual haha

I was looking forward to Skull and Bones but that games had so many setbacks i'm not sure how it will turn out. South Park Snow Day looks great, plus it's four player co-op which could be great fun. Loved the previous two games.

There's a couple of other games but not sure titles or dates have been released yet so will keep my mouth shut haha

Being brutally honest, I need to remind myself what actually comes out this year! 😅 I would love for Destiny 2's conclusion to the Light and Dark saga to be epic as its been 10 years of Destiny and a very good game most of us have played for years doesn't go crap overnight. Would love to just chill and enjoy the different activities on it with others like we used to do.

I'm likely to go back and look at my back catalogue and try and complete some games thoroughly too. Do we know if any of the early access games we've played over the past few years are getting big updates? Would love it if Valhalla got one.

I'm off to check 2024 game releases...
