I will always play a BF game. 2042 was pretty bad at launch, but its a helluva lot of fun now

Agreed, it was a really bad expansion, only did it on one character and that was because of the armor bounties. Still though, if you can get in near the keep, the Public events were wildly popular up until I stopped playing.

I did the Shadowkeep campaign earlier which took about 4 hours over a couple of days. I completely forgot about this back in the day as I did a lot of activities on the Moon but didn't actually buy into the expansion itself. Kinda glad I didn't pay full price for it when it released as it's largely just a load of busywork. The location is great but the story and quests are absolutely mediocre and progress being tied to bounties sucks. I can't complain too much as I got to experience it for free but this pales in comparison to the work and structure that The Witch Queen had. Beyond Light was even a solid step up although still lacking in some respects.

I can't even remember the names of the weapons anymore but the Grenade launcher that leaves the puddles that damage folks, and the Crafted SMG that poisons, really made that place easier.

Just need to switch them out.

I want to say my first legendary run in there I was using the crafted SMG, a Gunslinger hunter, and the Calus Mini-tool with the maxed out incandescent. None of which helps you anymore, sorry man, just reminiscing lol

I'm really enjoying this campaign - just finished the Savathun's right hand mission which was bloody challenging on solo legendary and took me well over an hour. Beyond Light I seemed to fly through in about 6 hours even with 34 quest steps but this one you really seem to get bang for your buck as every mission seems detailed, challenging and lasts longer than 15 minutes.

I didn't mind the Final Shape, but there was zero chance I was doing it 3 times. The story wasn't bad, but man was it tedious at times.

I enjoyed Beyond Light but I think the Witch Queen was my favorite.

I played it a few hours a week up until about 3 weeks ago. I just can't do the grind anymore, its pointless, and not really that much fun anymore. (For me, not others)

Bungie is way to focused on Marathon, and them killing everyones light level back down to 10 again just seems really lame and an easy way out for Developers.

This steam review pretty much sums it up for me:

HOLY JUMPING DREIDELS BATMAN! bungle is releasing a new DLC? AND the servers are going to be busted for at least TWO DAYS!?! AWESOME!!!! what's that? they're also rolling out another round of sunsetting, removing hundreds of hours worth of game missions, grind, activities, a handful of unique areas with narratives and quests, AND all the loot they contained, despite over FIVE years of negative feedback and complaints?? sounds like a BLAST!!! i can't WAIT to have to explain to new players about what happened in the Season of שקל!!
wait, say that again?! they're going to make nearly ALL of my armor and most of my guns OBSOLETE by POWER CREEPING them?!?? TAKE MY MONEY!!!! huh, there's more?!? bungie fired ALL of their good composers, so nearly 40% of the soundtrack is just REMIXES of songs we're ALREADY HEARD???? truly a MASTERCLASS in RECYCLING!!!! wait, you've got even more?!? you're telling me the new destination will have NO lost sectors, only THREE armor exotics on launch, in addition to neglecting gambit and crucible for ANOTHER year?? YABBA DABBA DON'T MIND IF I DO!!!!!! I LOVE GIVING BUNGIE MONEY FOR KICKING ME IN THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that its a game best played with others, but that being said, I spent the vast majority of my time solo in both games.

Regardless, Bungie making Kepler a solo space is such a weird choice.

So I picked this game up about a year ago, and it's somewhat usurped Minecraft as my go to game when bored at work.

The basic premise is you are a convicted criminal thats exiled to a planet and you need to terraform it in order to survive.

You have to gather ore's in order to build drills, shelters, generators, food growers, etc...

Starting off you need to increase pressure, heat, and oxygen. This will in turn melt the ice that is everywhere and start the water cycle, from there you gather materials to start getting moss and grass to grow and spread. From there Tree's, eventually you hit insects and then animals.

The thing that I love about the game is that it runs in the background, and based on how many of each type of machine you have, you get a real time countdown to when the next planetary phase unlocks. The more machines the faster it is, the less machines, the slower. So I can fire it up, sit in my shelter, and work, but the game just runs along happily, and as long as I have food, water, and oxygen in my pack my convict jsut hangs out.

It was made by a small indie dev team, and it shows with some weird clipping when you get close to map edges, but other than that, its one of the best games I have played in the last year.

@Sennex I appreciate Gran Turismo 7 isn't really an open world racing game - however, it can be quite therapeutic to drive around a few different tracks just in time trial mode (so essentially free play) and mastering the turns, braking points, etc.

Elsewhere, you could arguably try Mafia 2? As plenty of time to do open world stuff. Just stick the limiter on and play in easy mode and cops aren't a concern.

Are there any games where you can just drive around and not have to worry about missions, or police, or any thing else. Just explore cities and countrysides?

Every now and again I play Microsoft Flight Sim, and just being able to explore is pretty cool. I was hoping there was something like that but driving.

I picked this up last weekend, and WOW is it good. The storytelling is actually really solid, and seriously creative. I need to do a deep dive on Creole mythology and cryptids. I don't want to give anything away, so this review will be short.

The color and animation in the game turned me off at first, but it soon grew on me, the controls are really tight, but tend to loosen the faster you move. Which is a good thing as there are a lot of wall running sections, and running away from larger enemies and spirits.

The enemies are creative but repetitive. Its okay for the most part because it makes sense that they would be.

The main story, and the side stories were great, and really sad in most parts, which is also the point.

All that said, the game was short, it took me about 10 hours to beat. That being said I think the $30 - $40 price tag works well for it. If they tried to sell it for $60+ it wouldn't be worth it at all.

Or just get gamepass and play it for free

I loaded a save where I still needed to investigate a few areas off "map". I am sitting there and just letting my population build. I am back up to 7 teams now, but I want 10 because of the swarms and animal life.

Once I have that, and I have a few more walls and towers built, I will start messing with the objectives. Currently I have 2 rings of towers and walls, with 106 guards, but I want at least double that. I also need more cars!

Everything is researched that I can possible research, except a cure, and the Turning prevention.

The amount of ads on it now is abhorrent, and it won't really change until enough people fight them on it.

So its a population control game, so every time you need another squad of soldiers, you need to have 4 people sitting around unemployed.

Survivors wander around and they either attack you, join you, or run away from you. Your citizens can have kids, which grow pretty fast, I think a full year (12 days) gets them to where they can have jobs, this is helped by having a school set up. The most I have had so far is around 300 people, which took around 80 in game years. I am well on my way to more, but the swarms of zombies hitting me are slowing me down a lot

I would have said Forza but when I played the last one (my first experience of Forza) it felt a little overwhelming with races and events everywhere, that said the cars were great in it. I have been wanting a steering wheel recently and contemplating where to go with it. If you are happy to go a little bit older I think Test Drive unlimited was quite open for exploration and just going for a drive or I think I would second James with The Crew. If you wanted to go a little bit different play Red Dead redemption, get to the point where you get a horse and just potter around on a horse instead?

    Forza Horizon 4 or 5

You can do stuff if you choose, missions, challenges etc but you can also just cruise around. Both  are great games 🙂

4 is set in the UK and 5 is Mexico.

Think they're on PS5 now as of quite recently

Oh the one I progressed the most with was the one where I pissed off the military, they killed everyone and destroyed the whole camp 😂

Been a while since I played, got pretty far doing a save in my home town but I’ve now exhausted all resources as it’s not got that many buildings and my looting crews keep getting destroyed by zombie bears…

Okay..... Edinburgh might have been a mistake..... apparently the scots really like to turn zombie. I've never seen hordes this big in game before.
