    Ahoy :)

Hi folks, here through connection with @TurboR56Mini . Long time primarily PC gamer and relatively old person, history includes early-days Quake multiplayer, Unreal Tournament, and over... 15? years in MMORPGS (DAoC, WoW), and more recently D2 (pre-beyond light) , Deep Rock, Monster Hunter World and now Valheim amongst others. Happy to get to know folks, and contribute wherever possible! Cheers, Jess

    Coronavirus

Well Iโ€™ve had my vaccine , AZ, and no ill effects at all really (slightly fuzzy headed but difficult to tell from normal!). I do find it almost unbelievable how well the uk vacc programme is going, given what a total shit show the rest of our response has been .

    Ahoy :)

Welcome aboad matey. I love that you used Ahoy, it's so underutilized these days. There are a few folk here on PC. Slowly over time as people get older and have more money or space available, it becomes a thing to build or buy a decent PC for gaming. I have neither money or space, so I'm on PS4 which is all good. Nice that you found it to "The Forum" The place to discuss many different topics with some interesting people. I'm sure you will enjoy it here and fit in perfectly fine!

Welcome to FG Jess, nice to have another PC player in the community we're a pretty decent bunch for the most part except...um ok I just saw the size of my exceptions list, so I'll restart. We're a pretty horrible bunch except, except there's noone at all on that list. Good luck ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜…

  5. god it took so much work because it's very tall and we almost exhausted all our wood/stone supplies but boy is it beautiful, we did fantastic work together @TurboR56Mini and it's been a joy sharing build ideas to each other and thank's to @FallenDark200 for his help with both buildings and the gigantic moat on the mountain, now we need to fill the base and restock our supplies because we can't even build a hut anymore๐Ÿ˜

    Gran Turismo 16 March

I'm almost at the point where I'm comfortable in the wheel now, my only weakness is braking. I also need to learn better composure. You're definitely the better driver but you're just about in reach enough to give me that competition to raise my game. I'm really enjoying it. When @GazzaGarrattgets to grips with his wheel that will be an added challenge. I also get the feeling @crispymorgan is going to show us his speed when hes more used to the game. @LordBaguette has shown he has the pace in qualifying once he knows a track, just needs to push on. Personally I'd keep TCS at 2 judging by all the break dancing you like to do each race. I think everyone that races is improving to be honest and it's nice to see.

  8. Name: Base Camp Location: FG Server, Mountain Portal Hub So it's been a week and @Tar-Eruntalion and I have been hard at work making a new kind of base. I found a mostly sheer cliff and thought it would be neat to build a cliffside mountain staging base. What started off small, became a full fledged base of operations like HQ and Vault. The idea has now morphed into this being the portal hub for all Mountain biome exploring. When we find a new mountain range to pillage and want to suit up, store meads, and just pet a few dozen tamed wolfs (yeah, you read that right...thanks @RenFengge ), this is your base of operations. Plenty of warm beds, kitchen soon to come, working smelter and kiln in the basement, it's a one stop shop for your golem and drake killing needs. So far I have two portals set up, one to the 4th boss (nothing done here) and one straight up the mountain from base camp. It's hard enough to explore the mountains and why work harder to get to the good stuff. Just take the portal to our Snow Lodge, curl up by the fire, gaze at our dragon egg and have a drink. (Yes, @Bluebear in case you wondered who left you your night light... that was me!!). The lodge is also stocked with freeze meads so you can actually walk out the door. Beware, drakes and golems frequently spawn outside, as fix, our friend @FallenDark200 got on and did what he's so talented on...digging BFH around things. So now we have a mountain moat around the Snow Lodge to make it safer. It does work, the golems don't seem to be able to cross it, the black wolf night time thing fell in when it tried to jump us, so it works. As for the drakes, well, they fly so you are shit out of luck. try crafting some obsidian or fire arrows, they seem to do the trick. Ok, enjoy the build shots, and cheers again to @Tar-Eruntalion for the hard work. @GazzaGarrattI mean, we are building ALOT so you can mine some obsidian bud......

Race 1 - Round 3 of the Spring League Autodromo Lago Maggiore Gr3 10 laps Fuel usage x 4 Tyre wear x 6 Qualifying: Lee struggled to set a fast lap in practise and decided to change car right before qualifying which looked to be a bad choice as he managed to spin twice on his outlap. Lee wasn't alone though as Tom, Crispy and Paul also made a mistake to scrap their first flying laps. I cross the line with a new personal best to take provision pole though Kiwi manages a close second with his lap slowed down as he caught up with Phil. Tom manages to get his second lap together and gets himself up to 5th and later improving further to start 4th. Mike initially struggled with his qualifying as he spent too long trying to qualifying for a drifting championship but eventually keeps the car pointing straight to line up 3rd on the grid. Lee continues to struggle before exclaiming he'd like a lap under 2 minutes which he promptly manages as he gets to grips with the new car. Kiwi free from Phil, nails his lap and takes pole position which while I manage to closer I can't beat. Race; I get my start all wrong by getting too much wheel spin which gives the pack chance to close up and overtake on the run to turn 1 which causes me to misjudge my braking and I crash in to Tom who spins. In recovering, Tom gets back on the track and spins at turn 2 also. At the tricky turn 5, James keeps a tighter line and takes advantage of Lee and Crispy running wide to gain 2 places in one corner. Phil gets a better run exist out of turn 5 than me and makes his move up to 3rd at the chicane. This puts Phil on to Mikes tail for the long run down to the chicane where Phil jokes about not messing up his braking point which he then does but manages to avoid running in to Mike. Mike makes an easy switch back to hold on to second though it compromises his exit and giving me the chance of a pass up the hill to retake 2nd place. The nature of the track, the field had already become reasonable spread out by the end of lap 1 and this continues as Kiwi extends his lead out front. Lap 4 sees the start of pitstops with Clive and Paul pitting followed by myself at the end of lap 5 and Phil, Mike and Kiwi at the end of lap 6. The pit stops were pretty even so didn't do much to change the order though Phil was working too hard on his strategy plans made a mistake at his stop and didn't change tyres. Due to Phils faster stop it did bring him out in front of Mike however with Mike on fresher and grippier tyres soon made easy work of retaking 3rd place. Lee and Crispy also made a miscalculation in their strategy plans as they both forgot to calculate in the final lap causing them to be short causing them both to need a splash and dash stop on lap 8 and 9 respectively. On to the final lap, Clive is defending from Lee and spins at the turn 1 / 2 combo giving Lee the place. The race ended with Kiwi crossing the line for a dominate win which never looked in doubt and for this first win of the Spring season. Results; Race 2 ; Nurburgring Nordschleife 1 lap N200 There was no qualifying for this race as we used a reverse grid from the finishing positions of the first. There's not much of a report for this race as it's hard to keep track of where everyone is over a 16 mile lap and I don't know the track sooooo here's the results; Results; Race 3 Blue Moon Bay speedway Gr3 12 Laps Again, the grid for this race was decided as a reverse of the finishing order of race 2. However with an oval where drafting is so easy and so important, qualifying is less important. Race Lee makes a similar mistake to mine in the first race and gets too much wheel spin off the line and manages to spin and spear Paul as he tried to pass off the line. As the pack mostly remained close, there was plenty of rubbing and more than a few people getting a knock in to the outer wall. Mike managed to get passed me through the final corner and had a plan to bump draft Kiwi in an attempt to break away from the following pack though this was short lived as Mike decided to go for the pass rather than bump Kiwi. By lap 4, the field has spread out a little with the lead group consisting of Mike, Kiwi and myself with Phil and Crispy in a pack of 2 close behind with the rest spread out on their own. Over the next few laps there's a number of changes of position as we all draft passed and then re-pass each other with the end game being to be in the best position come the final lap. Mike makes a mistake though on lap 9 by running wide and hitting the outer wall too hard and getting a penalty but he manages to get rid of it so it's a 3 way fight for the lead going in to the final lap with Kiwi in first, Mike second and me in third covered by only 0.5 seconds. I draft up to Mike but hang back to try and get a run in to the final corner where the 3 of us take different lines but all try to occupy very similar parts of the track at the corner exit. Due to the natural line to run wide on corner exit, Kiwi's line takes him wide and across the nose of my car giving him a small wiggle but coming back across the track further contact is made with the front of my car causing him to spear in to the side of Mike slowing them both down and giving me the win. Itโ€™s going to be a while until I live that down isnโ€™t it?! I think Tom needs to work on his consistency as the last few races heโ€™s been pretty fast but even without my help heโ€™s spun too many times. I agree about Crispy too, certainly making gains quickly. Lee seems a but inconsistent with the wheel but some more time with it I think he can match (and beat) his controller times which will move him back to challenging for the podium.

I think @LordBaguette is fast in a single lap but needs to avoid trouble during the opening laps of the races, a bit more ducking and diving or anticipation of mistakes from others. Although there was nothing you could do about @Greboth booting you off! Agree that @crispymorgan keeps getting faster each week and will be at the front of the pack with us before long!

Great racing again last week. The spring race was good, glad I kept hold of P3 and I think that's going to be my realistic target this year, I feel like Phil and I are the red bulls of the pack at the moment haha. Still not happy about blue moon, but I don't know who the point the finger at ๐Ÿ˜‚ Looking forward to the next race tomorrow!!

Ohhh.. How I wish we lived in the age of Star Trek holodecks! I would really never need to leave home ever again hahaha. But, this does look cool, and I would love to see it paired with a running platform: Part of my interest in fitness is that I want to be somewhat capable like how my favorite characters are. Granted, there are athletic feats that they do that are highly unrealistic, but I want to attempt to get somewhat in the range of it. Playing Horizon Zero Dawn re-piqued my interest in wall/rock climbing and learning how to shoot a bow and arrow. Various superhero shows keep my interest in combat martial arts active. Honestly, I probably wouldn't hate cardio so much if I was actually running away from something lol. It's probably the only time you will see me run. Or, unless it's on the soccer field and the person I'm going toe-to-toe with is something I highly dislike.

  21. Astros Playroom is a fun little game to show what the controller can do, unfortunately there's not a lot of games incorporating any of it yet. Demons Souls is great, particularly the 60 fps which I hadn't experienced before enjoy!
