World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore
IRaMPaGe and 2 others reacted to Middle Class Caveman for a topic
In WoW, every class can learn first aid and cooking, so it's not all bad. However, the paladins, priests and druids who can self heal do have a statistical advantage. I started a warrior on the weekend on one of the realms that is hosting 'hardcore' unofficially (it's an add on rather than a server dedicated to the above rules) and I have to say just getting to level 6 was hairy!3 points -

Kill Confirmed by a long way. It's been my go to mode since BO2. After that I quite like Grind and I don't mind Bounty either. Most modes are OK when playing with friends. Apart from TeDiuM which is just the shittest and most boring game mode going.3 points -

I became a published Author...
jmrandle and one other reacted to Middle Class Caveman for a topic
So, one of the big wins this year is I became a published author! How mad is that, sadly it's not actually for a book you read, but a journal that I created for men - just like us. I've been journaling for about 4 years now and it has been a bit of a life saver. You guys know i've been through a physical transformation from 'fat' strongman to 'tasty' husband and a large part of that is because I learned how to not abuse my body with food. A lot of people who drink, smoke or do lots of drugs (caffeine was my drug of choice) simply need to get some ownership of their life and journaling can be a large piece of that puzzle. Before you click off because you've no interest in journaling, let me tell you that over the last 4 years of my life I have become a better person in every way. Man, husband, father, friend, financially, spiritually, pragmatically and emotionally. A lot of the work I did on myself, I did in my journal. Through trial and error, studying neuroscience and psychology I created a system that wasn't time consuming and was optimal for a 'mans' brain. I then applied my 'creed' or way of thinking to it and got it made by digital media creator. it's called the STRIKE Journal and you can buy it here on amazon: BUY MY BOOK! It is also available world wide on Amazon so if you're not in the UK simply search STRIKE JOURNAL on amazon. Just to be clear, my journal has nothing to do with 'fitness', my goals are set around my wellbeing and physical fitness because I will be dammed if I die of something like heart disease or a stroke, your goals and how you use the journal are simply how YOU choose to embrace your brand of masculinity. What is it? Well here is a summary below: S.T.R.I.K.E Journal Welcome to the strike journal, the premium men’s journal designed to keep you accountable and ready to strike at every moment of your day. After having used multiple different journals available on the market I found that none of them gave me the direction in my day that I required. I wanted to focus on what my needs are as a man and how my brain is motivated – specifically, not generally. Journaling is a tool used by all of the greats (Tim Ferris and Matthew McConaughey to name just two) to focus the mind and set priorities for the day, then to reflect on the successes and areas for development. I want you to use this journal to conquer each day and be the best man you can be. What is S.T.R.I.K.E? The 6 skills that I focus my day around and how I choose to embrace my masculinity in a way that benefits myself, my family, my goals and my communities. This doesn’t mean being a macho robot with no emotions and being as stoic as a rock. Being a man requires balance. Here are the 6 skills a man will use and work on every day: Strength - the strong protect the weak Taking Responsibility – you are the only person responsible for your actions, emotions and reactions Resilience - life is survival of the grittiest, motherfucker! Integrity - if you stand for nothing you’ll fall for anything Kindness – kindness is born of confidence, only a confident person can truly be kind Empathy - you never know what someone else has been/is going through At the end of each day in this journal you need to tick next to each of these skills that you successfully used as a reflection of how often you use each skill, hopefully you can show the balance of all 6. How to use this journal? I have designed this system to be as easy as possible but deliver maximum effect. Step 1: In the morning set your intentions. There are three boxes to complete. Firstly, set out your positive affirmation: Today I am going to be strong/happy/fun/a good dad/a good leader etc. Secondly, set out what you are going to improve that day, sometimes this comes from what happened yesterday or from the S.T.R.I.K.E skills: Today I am working on being calm/resilient/myself/more considerate/a monster! Thirdly, at the bottom of the page set out your non-negotiables for the day. I put in steps, nutrition goals, training and cardio goals, breathing techniques and if I’m doing ice bath or sauna that day. Step 2: In the evening before bed you reflect on your day and put everything to rest. There are 4 boxes to complete. Firstly, what went well today? Discuss your big or little wins of the day, reflect on all of the positives no matter how small. Secondly, what caused you concern, worry or stress? Be very specific about who or what caused an negative impact to your mental health. Don’t hold back, vent. Thirdly, what was out of your control? You have to learn to let go of what you cannot control, name it here, is it the same as number 2? Often times you will find it is and can therefore work on removing the stress in the future. Lastly, what are you grateful for? What or who are you grateful that is in your life? Your partner? Children? Pet? Something that happened? Yourself? Your body and it’s abilities? Step 3: Throughout the day at any point you can reflect on how well you are meeting the skills of the S.T.R.I.K.E journal and your non-negotiables. There are two boxes to use here. Firstly, tick next to each skill from S.T.R.I.K.E that you used successfully that day Secondly, your non-negotiables for the day, have you met them? I put in steps, nutrition goals, training and cardio goals, breathing techniques and if I’m doing ice bath or sauna that day. If I achieve them, I tick it off. It’s as simple as 1,2,3. However, at the end of each day you should feel a sense of accomplishment and gratitude whilst having let go of any of the stresses for the day. Oh, one more thing. Throughout this journal you will find reflection pages, on each page is either an in-depth look at each S.T.R.I.K.E skill or a quote that I find is particularly motivating, moving or useful as a man. You are encouraged to reflect on how this information makes you feel and if you can set an action to implement the ideas within it. Now, go and S.T.R.I.K.E your day!2 points -

I love this mate, only got round to being able to have time to digest it. I did try a High Performance organiser some years ago and it worked for a little bit - I think the challenge with capturing positive thoughts at the start and at the end of the day is something way harder than it sounds, especially if you are a person that wants to maximise everything out of every single day. One day soon I'll try and grab it mate and take a good read. Hopefully it has had a decent start and I'm sure you've helped a few lives already based on the reviews on Amazon so far!! Not really as Pat and James just disagree on a regular basis. You know, you could be right about that! I do see so many kids getting xbox but when they get older all they want is a PlayStation lol. Not sure how the demographic has ended up like that but I certainly hear that sentiment when I speak to mums and dads about all of this stuff. I've got to the stage with this that they should just get on and do whatever they wanna do. I don't think it will really do anything in the next 10 years to gaming if I'm brutally honest. Sony might get hurt in the long term but I probably see it as they have a 10 year plan to make sure they do whatever they need to in order to protect what they have right now.2 points -

Kill confirmed for me. Doesn't require much brainpower and isn't super stressful. It's basically TDM with an additional extra. Still defies belief how many people play this and don't pick up tags right in front of them for easy XP though. I used to enjoy domination but once again, players not playing the objective can ruin the match. Literally no point in going 25-5 if you're team is 30-170 points down.2 points -

Literally the whole of the UK could go net zero this time next week and China alone could absolutely negate everything we do in less than 24 hours by increasing their output by a measly 0.005%. I'm also paying an extra £7,000+ a year on haulage costs from my trade teams yet these vehicles in use 330 times a year not even exclusively to me contribute less than a single plane in operation for a week flying the same amount of time. Countries like China and the US should be setting examples but all that's happened is other counties have made commitments and the likes of China have capitalised on such reductions in productivity by increasing their own and then bolstering their overseas trade back to the countries who reduced their own output!2 points -

So after chatting through game modes briefly last night I discovered there is a reason why Bounty is my favourite game mode, mainly because on this COD out of 44 matches I have lost just one - My other go to is probably Kill Confirmed as it typically means if you are a team full of camping little fucknuggets then you are going to lose 😄 So yeah what game modes do you enjoy the most? I have both and I mainly play on the Xbox because I find that the MS network is by far superior to the PSN one in Ottawa. It was is was superior in California when I was there as well. I never had to complain about lag and network outages. Both boxes are side by side and use a hard wired internet connection with 500 Mbs so it's not my provider. I use to favor the PSN because it started with a free network and migrated to free for free to play games. So DMZ/Warzone is free to me on PSN but not on XBOX. Seems like I get what I pay for You friends list is also considerably better with Xbox. I believe it caps at 1000. The PSN one is now too small for the Warzone/DMZ crowd I play with1 point -

The changes the UK makes will make no difference to longevity of this planet's existence if the US and China do nothing. If its used as an excuse then yes its a cop out. How many people live in China and the UK? How long has China been industrialised compared with this country? You do know that China is the workshop of the world doing our dirty work? Come on mate, how many shitty businesses in this country use China to make their tat? So yes, all countries need to sort their shit out but yeah its called whataboutery and its a cop out when we start the old "it's not just us" game, we practically started it all off 🙂1 point -
By all means however you can't just deny the fact altogether — I was merely highlighting an alternative point, NOT delegating responsibility. And using the US and China as 'cop outs' was not what I was doing. Highlighting the fact that the US and China emit billions of tonnes more than us is hardly 'pathetic'.1 point

AI is scary!
IRaMPaGe reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
I know it’s not just heatwaves and I’m also not dismissing climate change - it’s a combination of media pressure on the public, shitholes like Twitter laden with misinformation, and absolute fucking morons like Sadiq Khan branding people (inducing local Muslim business owners) ‘nazi’s’ for being against aggressive environmental measures which is also proving to be a nice little forced revenue stream for his overseas business ventures. The majority of weather events attributed to climate change these days still remain factually unproven and records demonstrate that such extreme weather phenomenons have existed long before even records began. That’s not to say climate isn’t a factor today but the media are very quick to jump and play the climate change card. When the majority of climate protesters are hypocrites too, it can be impossible to sway other people especially with science still failing to provide concrete forwarding models. Them lot are really cashing in and they have nothing to lose and a guaranteed pile of money at their feet every 5 years.1 point -

Believe me I can't help but think everything is on a downward trajectory — a terrible mindset to have considering everything isn't all doom and gloom, it just seems that way if you tune into the News too much! You could go a step further in saying why are we (the UK) trying to do so much to stop green house gasses when the major contributors such as China seem to be doing so little? Now don't quote me on that as that may also be a media influenced statistic, you never know how much of what they say is actually true or has any truth in it.1 point

AI is scary!
IRaMPaGe reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
I think a lot of it is fear-mongering. Climate is definitely an issue and things have to change environmentally, but there are several hundred instances on record where extreme incidents of weather have occurred that cannot be attributed to typical aggravating human factors. This time last year the UK had a 3 day heatwave where temps exceeded 35 and the record was broken, however 40 years previous, we experienced 15 days consecutive where it was greater than 32 degrees. The media and heavily-funded scientists tried to pin the phenomenon exclusively on climate last summer but it could’ve just been a nice few days of summer on a smaller scale than 40 years ago. It was bordering on Armageddon doomsday according to the BBC though! If there really is an emergency then how about start grounding more commercial planes and private jets instead of rinsing the public for money simply for driving their cars on roads they need to travel down. Also doesn’t help with most protesters being hypocrites and disrupting innocent people.1 point -

Totally get that, and we all know the climate crisis won't affect the rich as much as the rest of us. You're right not to trust media, it's all owned by billionaires, its their agenda and too many people fall for the narratives they create. I don't blame the younger generation having doubts about these things, it's a pretty scary future unless something drastically changes. I'm a glass half full kind of person but I'm very worried about how it's all going to play out...1 point -

Maybe it’s because you don’t like what’s being said but I honestly thought we left the fanboy gatekeeping behind back in 2012. It’s also funny because the last time you accused me of ‘talking out my ass’, everything I said turned out to be 100% correct and that didn’t even stretch to the educated predictions I made after which was a sweet bonus😎1 point -
Microsoft to buy Activision Blizzard?
IRaMPaGe reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
FTC and the CMA were simply acting in the interests of other global companies and the impact such a merger would have. I fail to see why you are so against this? MS were forced into damning admissions to in regards to their overall motive for the move and their knee-jerk purchases of other developers they have locked to their books but fail to support. Oversight bodies are perfectly within their right to raise any litigation or make rejections with credible reason. I find it really bizarre that you are so far up Activision’s rectum with this whole saga - it’s a merger of two multi-billion dollar companies that will have no benefit to gamers or developers and will likely suppress other companies from making independent strides. It’s not going to make Call of Duty any better - it’s just gonna make Bobby and Bill even more money and that’s it. it’s also not in the interests of legal bodies to pursue further litigation because it would simply be too costly and an impossible battle to win against a homegrown corporation with endlessly deep pockets who can easily sway judges who can’t fathom how to even work a toaster. Any gamer and developer would be rather concerned about what has transpired from MS in court.1 point -
Microsoft to buy Activision Blizzard?
IRaMPaGe reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
A terrible result for gamers and mainstream gaming today but an unsurprising one to say the least - a US company was never going to lose on home turf against challenges that may benefit a Japanese one. The good news is that it forced Microsoft into making some calamitously painful admissions in court such as only buying Bethesda (who they didn't even want) to stop Sony getting a one year Starfield exclusive, and the game pass being of such incredibly detrimental value to external developers, that they'd have to own them outright just to make it a profitable move. Also MS have had to make some serious concessions to bulldoze this deal through to an more acceptable standard so smaller companies wont be hamstrung as bad as first feared but it's still yet to be truly assessed. The FTC did the right thing and the case really has exposed MIcrosoft's absolutely catastrophic approach to gaming in the last two generations and their inability to remotely compete with Sony and Nintendo even after trying to buy swathes of the industry to shut rivals out. No matter how much they blow on acquiring another company they probably don't even want either, they will never get their dignity back and a lot of developers are going to think twice about Game Pass publication now.1 point -
Personally I'm so torn about the climate change debate — I believe what the scientists are saying but, the way the media are pushing it and the policies the Government are putting in place only makes it look more like another crisis the rich will benefit from. Telling us we what we can and can't do to help save the planet while jetting around in private helicopters and planes. Can't see AI helping the working class person.1 point

It was ultimate two catastrophic fuck ups - firstly rebranding because apparently 'e' is the buzzword (or letter) and they wanted to go down an eSport route. The second calamity was taking the Fox Engine as far as it could go without having an in-house replacement, so they opted to use the off-the-shelf Unreal 4 engine which gave them the big brain idea of fusing console and mobile gaming for a bumper payday without taking into account how retarded such a move would be going into the PS5 generation. They could've easily made a mobile game and a next gen football title without trying to mould them together so people could play on the move. Who the hell wants to play on a 4K 60fps device against someone using an iPhone 6 ffs lol! PES was always legendary because of its gameplay irrespective of the licence but now they've lost that, they ultimately have nothing and the F2P model does not work whatsoever. There's actually less content in that than what they were releasing as demos under PES!1 point -

AI has really made insane leaps of late and it's crazy what has been achieved. Its also quite deadly as its already been heavily abused. I've read about people being framed for crimes which have even made court, families being conned by phone from who they think are relatives and extreme cases of blackmail. Governments couldn't even understand or control things like lootboxes so I have no hope of this being regulated properly. The US Senate doesn't even fucking know how wireless routers work so chances are AI will probably end up regulating itself😎1 point -

It's an interesting topic, I certainly have no trust in any of the corporations and their plans for our future. AI would be super useful, machine learning already is, but unfortunately how we as a species organise our society, economically, politically and socially is pretty much unfit for the challenges we face. I'd say the climate threat will escalate a lot quicker than ppl realise and if you see how we're dealing with that then good luck with managing AI...1 point -
