Quoted for the truth. SBMM has it's place but it shouldn't be the defacto matchmaking. SBMM was introduced as a way to increase enjoyment and stop noobs getting stomped but all it seems to have done is make sweatier lobbies. Sure in the (original) MW and MW2 days you'd get stomped occasionally but equally you would occasionally stomp too so it all evened out.

How about simply having connection based matchmaking and then a ranked playlist?

FIFA 23 will be EA's last branded game because they want to retain the greed all for themselves an instead we have EA Sports FC and this very well could become a F2P ongoing live service. After Konami's spectacular total fuck up I'm not too keen on that model however it wont be anywhere near as ass as what they churned out. Wonder if there will be any takers for the FIFA brand now...

Sorry, I meant I get that why companies would cash in - this is more just the moral side of it, which will never win out 😄 As of now, 3080s cost around £100 more than a current gen console. That is the graphics card alone. I suppose my point is, like many that we have here, people want to play PC games but PC bundles just aren't as accessible to budgets these days. And when you get one, they're so worried about games not being able to be supported. A console is plug and play, and far cheaper. From a gamers perspective of course as there's many other reasons to have a PC too.

I agree with a lot that's being said here. Especially @techno for the game should always be about connection rather than ability. Was great way back in MW2, BO1 and 2 when you built up a nemesis and trying to top the lobby when it didn't used to disband after each game. Felt like something else to play for like a side or mini game. James makes some excellent points about SBMM. Having played a lot of the recent Cods and experiencing affected gameplay. I remember on Cold War in particular doing really well and I swear this is not bullshit. Playing really well at the start of the game and then dying. That's not the part, after respawning after death I charged back for a revenge kill. And this particular incident happened 2-3 times on separate occasions. I remember launching a semtex and I swear as I threw it the aim gittered off at the last second and hit a wall and nearly got me killed. I wanted to blame it on stick drift or give the benefit of the doubt, but it happened in a few selective circumstances after I was decimating the other team and then suddenly I don't know how to use a semtex. I can launch a semmy on raid across the map and stick people successfully and consistently off the rip at the start. I'm well aware of aim and distance, but just these incidents were extremely fishy. Other times I've noticed aim or bullets going off for no reason at all, or losing a crucial gunfight I thought I was going to win 100% Definitely a lot of manipulation going on to stop you having "Too good a time". I think I noticed it in Cold War the most out of the last 3 titles. I don't mind getting whooped if I deserve it, but please don't punish me for doing well... That's beyond ridiculous behaviour!

Yeah it is hard for the setting and time frame to suit the game. I dunno a playable Winston Churchill slide cancelling with an MP40 would make me piss my pants laughing. Herman Goering? 😂

'Budget' isn't the problem though, the RRP of GPU's honestly isn't too bad with a 3080 only being ~£100 more than a 1080. Third party manufacturers have always been more but the problem is that even the "budget" ones are £150-£200 over RRP with some getting close to double RRP. Yet a lot of cards are out of stock because people are still buying them. So make an actual budget card, or price as such, when you can double your profit on all your cards.

Not had chance to try this out yet. @Macca89 said it was in a separate BR mode with 60 players rather than 150. I was hoping it would impact the full 150 players but I imagine these things are massive and cause huge disruption to the map. Anyone else tried it yet?

We do get to the stage that people forget we don't have to make every game into a movie or series. I think RE on a TV screen actually works better with the animated movies personally. Some of them made are pretty solid watches, better than some of the ones made with Milla Jovovich (even though i'm a sucker for these films! 🤣)

I feel like we've met the full circle moment where everything will (hopefully) start from scratch again, especially if you see all the deals being done by clubs and sponsorship deals with the new and upcoming football games. We used to have so many football games back in the day, I think its a huge potential for any game producer to grab right now. We clearly feel that EA Sports FC will be just FIFA 22 rebadged, which I don't care if they do unless they try and ask us to blow large amounts on it. They need to tap into the gamemodes that people really REALLY love out there but clearly they don't see it can't be a goldmine, which I believe it could be and then we all win too because we get updates to them. And imo, those gamemodes that tons of people have loved for years are Pro Clubs from FIFA and Master League from PES. How good would it be to be able earn your way to create your own Pro Clubs badge or play a full Online Master League with other people. Confuses me so much that this is right in front of their faces and they can't still see it.

I didn't think of it like this but now you mention it, you could say that PCs are going the way of pricing themselves out of the market of the core gamer. It is far cheaper to buy a PS5 or Xbox, even if their prices feel quite high. And with many top end games needing later generational cards to get the graphics that people wanna see it does make me wonder why they haven't made a kind of 'budget' graphics card that could be very marketable right about now.

Yeah, Spurs beat City home and away this season and LFC couldn't get a win against Spurs either. But yes I agree, they're a dodgy lasagne away from CL now...but I'll wait to see what happens 🙂

Well, after some shitty internet issues and a few bits of mis-communication, I finally have a full Vow completion. Hey there, FG friends! Is anybody else interested or planning to play Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising? I have been waiting for this! Of course, the main attraction is Eiyuden Chronicle which comes out next year. Deemed as a successor to the Suikoden series, the guys behind the beloved JRPG series formed their own studio and launched the development of the game with a successful Kickstarter campaign. They now have the funding and we'll just need to wait for the main game to come out next year. Rising is a prequel game and combines elements of platform and city building. So far, it's fun. You'll probably dislike it a bit if you hate fetch quests, which the game is mostly built upon (for the first hour, at least) but the game is reminiscent of simple PS1 JRPGs and I think that's the main appear for me. It's currently on Game Pass (I know there are lot of Xbox gamers here, too) but it's also available on Steam/PC, PS4/PS5, and Switch. So far, it's only digital, but if a physical edition comes out, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. XD

Was leaked a few hours ago and although I take things with a pinch of salt, alleged images from the new Silent Hill were copyright struck by Konami themselves which suggests it's real.

Kinda old news now, wondering what people think of Snopp Dogg as an operator in Vanguard and Warzone. Hardly a realistic WW2 setting throwing Snopp Dogg etc into the game 6 months in. 🤣🤣 Usually, i'm not overly bothered by skins tbh, providing they aren't overly whacky. Its a game after all, you're supposed to have fun with it, even if it doesn't match the surroundings as much. Its more if it was a brightly coloured fortnite character in this which wouldn't go at all with the theme or style of CoD.

Its a horrible but necessary balance from an environmental standpoint, agreed. Just something makes me sad that we literally have to get rid of everything in replace of a digital cloud. PCs will remain king for many years though with young folk looking at Cryptoballs and YouTube rendering.

I see less hardware in homes going forward in general, with Xbox and others letting you play via games on TV app. etc Which, environmentally, is no bad thing tbf...

I also forgot to mention that Activision even blocked their API because users were reverse-engineering match data to determine the algorithms in play for a specimen pool of users. Not only was their framework blocked, that information was also bound to a desist order. Basically Activision going to extraordinary lengths to cover up their matchmaking processes. MW2 had the best matchmaking because it was random and based purely on connection. I loved going into matches and not knowing what to expect. Black Ops 1 was also very good with the extended option of choosing locale only. Developers have claimed that these two games also had SBMM but that's total bullshit as my lobbies were always varied especially in BO1 when you could literally see leaderboards going into games and combat records too. Matchmaking should be simple and to benefit connection as a priority but Activision make it all about money and psychology. Sadly it works.

I defo think we need to explore more and get to grips with a few bits and pieces before modding this. Its nice to know there's been randomers already on the server too. It really adds to the suspense of everything. A tiring way back from where I met Crispy on the way North West to the current camp in Stary Sobor. Clearly even with the complass it was hard to work out where I was. So much so that I ended up getting battered by a few Zombies, passing out and having to take my own shirt off to just make some rags to stop the bleeding. Freezing much, yessssss. 😅 I ended up going so far that I worked out finally I was at the Airtfield above Stary 🙈. @phil bottle had to keep shooting random shots when i got near Kabanino so I knew where he was. No food or water left, blood on empty after another battering from Zombies. It took me best part of an hour to stop fainting and get into the town. Somehow i miraculously stayed alive and got my blood back up to yellow (half-full). Mental game just to get back where I was before the massacre that we didn't survive the other day 😅Lovely. Really want to get into some base building again. And then finding some car parts if we can.

A few of us have had some random conversations about this PSOne classic as of late. For those that don't know, Vandal Hearts was a top down Tactical/strategy RPG that had a really good cast of characters that each had their own different skills and abilities with a great story and some good gameplay. They did make a few sequels but neither one really stood up to the original IMO. However, I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations for games that have a similar style? Pop your suggestions down below.

That's what they want people to think but it's actually a form of monetised matchmaking that manipulates gameplay and your connection to either get users spending more on microtransactions or increase player retention. SBMM did live up to the name a few years ago but now it's all about fake ping, phantom connection issues, inflated lag compensation and heavily curated lobbies that will always disperse once a match completes. Cold War showcased this the best for me - I'd have one epic game, a good game and then an absolute nightmare. I could go 40-5 hitting everything and then 7-28 not being able to land a shot and feeling like I was always behind the play. Just when I was ready to rage quit, I'd have a blinder and then continue playing only to get trapped in the cycle. Other players get roped into buying P2W guns and are deliberately matched into lobbies where users might be using them. There was patented concept sheets leaked a few years ago about this that people have forgotten about and it's already well in motion without most realising. Only way to really get round it is tank your K/D with a burner account and then join it with your main to reverse boost like every YouTuber but that's no fun. Connection-based matchmaking will never return with Crooktivision at the helm. Matchmaking and matches in general are rigged which is why the fun is sapped out of many of the games in recent years. Activision even DMCA'd most of the videos that studied extracted datamined material of their matchmaking processes and from what I remember, skill is literally the last thing that matters now unless you are a gutter-ability player.

I like the way Rocket League does it — they have a Casual match making playlist and a Competitive one.

Perhaps a better Skill-based match making system could help? I've never though COD has been great in that department.

Ngl, its pretty weird seeing him running around in the game. I suppose its hard as after launch, what skins do you bring into a game to make it fun and worthwhile? Clearly people bought into it, although i'd say the new Godzilla one looks better as it looks like you are also in full camo, which adds to the feel of the game.

Here's some of the info and screenshots for the new quest system. Looks like new grunts too that will have weapons now, which defo adds a new dimension to the gameplay. Here's the developer stream too that goes into better detail on what's coming in: Seems to be replacing daily/weekly challenges so definitely a very good first step into adding objectives to when you are playing each round. Hopefully they can expand on these Quests to eventually have multiple step quests with a big reward at the end. This game still has a great intense feel to it.

Totally get you won't be on your own for this one and I won't derail this thread for this...does make me think of a separate thread about unpopular opinions 😄

I thought it was a really great considering some hadn't done one for a few weeks and some hadn't done a full run in a complete run. It really is a fun raid and still challenging which can lead to it being abit longer as each phase feels pretty long, especially the first one. Great feeling when we nailed it though. Top 4 race has turned spectacularly! I can still see Spurs losing 1-0 away at Norwich on the last day though🤣 Been such a strange season as I don't feel anyone outside of the top two have done all that well - no consistency anywhere and plenty of silly results. Glad Spurs have turned a corner and are beginning to form some identity but they need to seal that final spot and then really back Conte through the summer. Bet Arsenal are really regretting giving Arteta that two year deal last month! I've had money on Leeds going down all season but there could be even more twists at the bottom and top too so the weekend should be very exciting!

Yeah, the puzzles were always fun in all the previous games, although did get frustrating at times 😂😂 Yeah, you can play as Red Hood, Nightwing, Batgirl or Robin, and im sure there is a co-op option so you can have up to 4 players at once

I think this will be the start of many as it happens to all consoles eventually. I even looked last night and its quite difficult to buy a new PS4 now anyway. The game itself does look great. My son absolutely LOVED these previous games and I recall playing the first one years ago and enjoyed it too, especially the puzzles in it. How many characters can you be in this one? Has it been confirmed anywhere?

Yeah, one of the long term benefits of owning a PC was that over it's lifetime, while the initial expense was higher than buying a console, the cheaper availability of games made it affordable. I don't know about that any more. When I get my Steam Deck I will consider how I go about future PC upgrades, if I even continue. Will see...

I'll start looking at a few things once we establish a good place to make a proper base. Should start looking at finding cars to get on the road too. But there's nothing to stop us in the meantime looking at which mods to install. The Expansion mod for certain and maybe a trader zone but I'm open to what people would like. When we get to that stage I'll also change the name of the server to FG and then advertise it on the DayZ forums, where I have a 10 year old account and where i met my darling Diddums. DayZ is played differently by different people. It uses to be a hero and bandit system. Some ppl like roaming the coasts murdering new spawns, some make bases and raid other bases, some like to kill the bandits and help the new spawns. Some just like to live in the deep, deep forest away from humans. Long term I'm also waiting for the Taviana map which us under construction, a great map from the old dayz mod, and bicycles. I hate that they were removed. @TurboR56Mini if you install DayZ SA Launcher i can also show you some modded servers and we can jump in so you get a flavour. But yeah, have a look at what mods we want, check out the Expansion mod for an idea of what's in that. Let me know if you need links.

It'll be interesting to see who tries to get that license. I remember for the longest time, a lot of folks though PES was the better than FIFA on so many levels. I wonder if a 2K developer will try for it?
