Artesian Builds
phil bottle and one other reacted to J4MES OX4D for a topic
This was an interesting saga that ended almost as soon as it begun - Artesian Builds is a fairly large and widely recognised custom PC building company with links to Intel and some of the biggest streamers. They ran a giveaway in which a small streamer won but they decided to go back on giving away the prize because the winner was deemed not big enough for advertising/exposure purposes that the competition would bring. This generated a massive backlash from customers, the community and even Intel themselves resulting in some spectacular negative publicity globally. The CEO who seems to be an absolute dick gave the most shambolic 'apology' and has since been placed under investigation for tax evasion. Not only this, the company has essentially suspended its operations and will likely collapse with around 50 employees affected. What an absolute shit show - refuse to give someone a PC worth $2,000 that they won legitimately because it wont give your company wider exposure and then have the organisation nuked a couple of weeks later whilst also drawing attention to some internal corruption on top which could lead to federal charges. How hard is it these days to not screw up so spectacularly!? Artesian Builds Shuts Down Indefinitely After Backlash From Twitch Streamers WWW.TECHTIMES.COM Artesian Builds has now shut down after intense backlash for criticizing a small-scale Twitch streamer's following.2 points -

I think a wheel will always be better simply by the fact of the range you have in pedal and steering input over a controller. However from an enjoyment perspective, having a full rig is far more enjoyable than desk mounted. By the time I went Fanatec and a full rig I’d been sim racing about 20 years and had a wheel for 15 years of that. So for me it was a relatively easy purschase but I do find it harder to recommend to others because it is a big investment. However feel, and a sense of speed, is something you’ll always miss but good ffb does help. It’s a different feeling as it’s all through your hands than your ass. But you get attuned to the feeling what the car is doing still. Oversteer is always the obvious one as it forces the wheel to countersteer. But you also get to feel understeer, the floaty feeling when you’re right on the edge of grip etc. It is the one area I’m struggling with GT7 is getting attuned to the cars and the ffb. Most of the time I’m alright but occasionally I get a snap of oversteer which catches me off guard and I can’t react to it. That isn’t to say it’s bad, it’s just not great. A bit off topic really but Live for Speed still shines for me as fantastic force feedback. Getting the feeling and judging the balance as you get just the right amount of lift off oversteer to help turn in your fwd car. Or turning in your rwd and then almost holding the wheel straight as you play with the throttle to keep the car rotating. Raceroom is supposed to have fantastic ffb too but I’ve yet to try it.2 points -

Nintendo Switch Talk & Friend Codes
GazzaGarratt reacted to Spacedeck for a topic
So as I've mentioned before, I now own a Switch. I haven't gone down the route of PlayStation or Xbox due to most games being released on PC nowadays. I know Switch has been out for years at this stage, but I jumped in on the OLED scene, the new screens look amazing! After getting it, you can really see where this little beauty shines. It's very family orientated, small and compact design, looks sleek, detachable controllers, dockable screen for TV and handheld play, amazing first party games. Downsides is first party and exclusive games being stupidly expensive, even years after release and you see very little sales on anything official. Online chat is none existent outside of the phone app or any other program you may choose to use. Coming from the age of Steam and digital games (over 1,400 on Steam and many more through other platforms), I was conflicted once again between choosing physical games or digital. Nintendo push for digital sales, but I still prefer physical media with a physical device (Steam is only an application), part of buying digital sort of feels wrong on a console. Mostly games can be bough cheaper too second hand, most are £25 at the minimum but you'll be looking more at £30-38 for most games. They do continue to use a stupid amount of plastic for such a small cartridge. So I said I was a new Nintendo Switch user? Well, here's all the goodies I've received since buying the console. Nintendo Switch OLED White Nintendo Switch Pro Controller PDP Pull N Go Case Elite Nintendo Switch (should arrive Saturday) Pokeball Thumb Grips from Etsy shop (with postman) Games: Animal Crossing: New Horizons *Hollow Knight The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Mario Party Superstars *Mario + Rabbids® Kingdom Battle Minecraft Pokemon Legends: Arceus Pokemon Shield (including steel tin) *Snipperclips Plus Due to cost and the idea Nintendo hate selling games, I'll use a combination of physical and digital(*) media to build the collection. First party games I'd prefer physical if they can be had cheaper, otherwise for indie / smaller titles I may end up digital. It is a very addicting little device, it may not be powerful or have pretty graphics, but being easily accessible and portable makes up for it. I don't know if anyone here even bothers with the Switch anymore but I thought I'd try here to see if anyone wanted to be added as a friend. Even if just to increase my friends list beyond just my brother 😅. Nintendo Switch Friend Codes: SW-0680-6510-2826 - Spacedeck1 point -

I'm pleasantly surprised to see people picking it up already. We'll definitely have to sort out a night or two on it. No plans for a FG league yet until everyone has got their bearings but a race night for the lols can be sorted easily 🤗1 point -

The whole thing is so bizarre. It's such incredible short-term thinking and so self-serving. What if with this new pc the she would have been able to play games that require the type of system they can make and from that she develops a bigger following. If they're able to foster that type or relationship she could be like, "hey, these people helped me with they're awesome builds!" It would only look good on them to help a smaller streamer and not always be about those that regularly have several thousand viewers at a time. But no. Let's act like the douche bag Noah looks like.1 point -

Yea, I'm either going to go full out with a wheel, pedals, and chair setup or stick with the controller. I know I'm decently fast irl but much of that is the feeling of being in the car. It's a visceral thing. A wheel by it self like sitting on a couch or not seated properly in general along with no pedals in the right position is honestly no better than a controller imo.1 point -

I’ve got a full Fanatec setup though different wheel and pedals but I would recommend them. I’ve got the CSL Elite, the belt driven predecessor to the CSL DD, so I’ve been keeping an eye on reviews of the CSL DD. In short, if you’re buying for your first wheel it’s a fantastic bit of kit. To come across maybe a little snobbish, GT is good with a wheel but if you go for it I’d recommend trying some ‘proper’ PC sims to see what it can really do.1 point -

It sucks when a game is delayed, however I would rather more time given to hopefully sort things rather than the half baked release. Especially these days with the likes of Cod, BF, Cyberpunk etc.1 point -

Dear God! S10 is difficult! I think I clocked over 120 miles around Spa but only actually managed to complete 3 or 4 laps. Still, I got the gold in the end so that’s all licences gold for me. Which thankfully means, I never need to look at the bloody things again 😄1 point -

Knowing most of the tracks definitely helps with some of the challenges. Although I did have to make one race 'medium' difficulty as my car was simply not keeping pace. It also took me a while to realise if I want to change my power output to get my PP down, I have to buy a mod for each car that enables that option in the tuning. It's been great so far and I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm switching between this and Cyberpunk as my main games right now.1 point -

It is definitely fully fleshed out thats for sure. You don't actually unlock the Multiplayer until you finish Menu Book 9, which I think looking back is a good thing. Usually if you just pick up the game people don't fully understand everything that's going on, so this early learning as the game flows you about everywhere is really helpful - and it means you have a good bunch of cars to start your collection too. Looking forward to going back on soke licences and circuit experiences to see where I land in the FG pack as I've usually just tried to get gold and then move on so far! Oh, and it definitely feels more challenging to drive the cars. Haptic feedback on a PS5 controller may have something to do with that.1 point -

It does look decent mate, great little videos to share. Its weird, I think they'll need to do some form of Marketing campaign to get people back into it. If it doesn't go free, looking into a few freeweekends where they can get a deal on the game if they play.1 point -

The gameplay itself is fine in my opinion now, especially that they fixed the weapon bloom. I don't usually use vehicles so i can't comment too much on how they play. Any type of Armoured vehicles are a pain to deal with as there are not enough options to take one out by yourself I would consider myself an OG of the Battlefield franchise so i understand why people are upset about essentially removing the class system which encourages squad play I can't give up the advanced mobility that Sundance or McKay give to use other specialists 🤔 I think people have a bad taste from launch which wouldn't help the player count . Also people taking others opinions as gospel and making a decision not to play the game for themselves now .1 point
