Going Manual - Tips & Help
GazzaGarratt and one other reacted to Mikepjbell for a topic
I may also give this a try and map the buttons to X And [ ] It's remarkably easy in real life because I'm fine with putting my car into manual mode and using the paddles but in the game there's so much more to contend with and things are happening much faster.2 points -
Going Manual - Tips & Help
Mikepjbell reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
I've been thinking about trying out manual gears for some time now on Gt Sport as I know its generally faster times you can get however at the best of times there's a lot to concentrate on, let alone then change gears as you race. So are there any helpful tips on what to look out for, how to change gears, etc. I appreciate I know how to do it in real life but racing in a virtual world is very different to the real thing! Likely to start out on controller but obviously tips for people with racing wheel's are welcome too as I'd love to own one in the future. Cheers all!1 point -
Resident Evil Village

Another thing that has me worried is the series seems to be drifting away from Science Fiction and heading more towards fantasy. Agree with Lee about it being in first person too - whilst it is immersive, the mechanics aren't solid enough especially in regards to the combat. I think the more traditional 3rd person is way better and would be more suitable here. Resident Evil 7 was a great experience but it felt like I was playing a first person mod of a RE game and it looks the same here. Visuals do look fantastic though.1 point -

I might have to push on with going back to remastered RE2 & 3. I think it looks great but I don't think FPS with RE games is for me. I like how theyre incoporating decent additions to previous successful games but i'm totally with you both on the price so far. Not worth £65. In fact most PS5 titles aren't worth 65 squids!!1 point -
Simple high fibre and toning health plans
RenFengge reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
No, i didn't get anywhere really in terms of fibre. All i've done in simple terms is try to eat less shit. Basically less chocolate and biscuits. Also, try to not drink too many beers really late, which i've swapped out many nights for a few cups of tea. Oh, and also not to try an eat that shit far too late. I get hungry really late on gaming so that where a cuppa comes into play which stops me eating. I still need to find more stuff. In the mornings i'll try and switch to these shreddies with raisins in them as I know that will have fibre. I'm also always better when I can get my blowout running around a football pitch for an hour a week. Unfortunately lockdown has scuppered that so i need to force myself out to run at some stage. I'm just struggling in that department due to how busy our life is with the pups, home schooling, work, fg, blah, blah, blah, etc. Consicous i don't wanna say that all the time as it can easily become an excuse not to do the above stuff - but I just need to balance and sometimes not be too harsh on myself. This year has so far been a way better start for me physical health wise. I just need to balance that out and give mroe time for my mental side of things for a few weeks I reckon. Your Fitness PPR though has me back thinking about HIT programmes so might try and make one for a weekend day perhaps at home.1 point -

Possibly the Nurburgring Race track perhaps? Don't think i've really raced that at all. Maybe for one of the following weeks it would be good to go back to Kyoto but with Gr.3 cars. I think i'll struggle but faster cars on that winding track might make for plenty of passing and opportunities for an interesting race.1 point -

GTS tips and etiquette

Anyone can add to this but here's a few things for new players to take note. First some tips, them some etiquette. Tips Cars cost money. Money is gained by driving. Simple. In Campaign you can choose between GT League, Driving School, Mission Challenge, Circuit Experience. I'd do Circuit Experience first as it provides money. Mission Challenge and Driving School will give you free cars after various stages. Every day you play the game, you will be given a free car, so long as you drive a minimum 26 miles. Etiquette There's a quick tutorial in the Sport section. It's a requirement before you're allowed to race online. FG Etiquette Don't be a cunt. That's all. Ok... If you bump an opponent unfairly and it costs them time, ideally you should slow down and wait for them. Try not to dive bomb unless you are abreast or close enough to make it legit, then you are within your rights to try a pass. Try your best not to ruin anyone's race. We play tough but fair, its not GTA, even if your name is Mike.😁1 point -

You won't win the race in the first corner. Aim to stay out of trouble in the first corner, pick a clean line and allow other drivers to make mistakes. This is particularly relevant in the public online modes.1 point -

Watch out for early braking. If you're in someone's slipstream and you're approaching a braking point, consider that you'll already be carrying more speed than the person in front, and that person my not brake as late as you. Sometimes it's best to lift off slightly before the braking point if you don't intend on overtaking the person in front, and instead aim to take the corner cleanly so you get a good run out of the corner.1 point -

1/21/2021 Workout Buy in: 500m Tabata Row 18 Minute AMRAP 10 push ups 20 high step ups 1 heavy deadlift at 90% of 1 rep max (185lbs lift for me today) Cash Out: Dead Hangs at 3 second increments for a total of 30 seconds. Thoughts: Switching gears from being at a gym outside my home to working out constantly in my own home gym takes... effort lol. There was a year where I was pretty consistent on my own when I gave up on the gym scene here. I basically also harassed husband in the middle of him playing Battlefield and D2 to spot me. Anyway. When I saw this workout posted at my gym, I thought, "DAMN IT! I WANT TO BE THERE FOR THAT!" Then I realized that it's very easy for me to do at home. I swapped out the 20 box jumps to 20 step ups using my bench. Ooohhh.. this was a little tricky in my small space, but I made it work. I wanted to quit after 5 minutes. Then at the 10 minute mark. I wasn't sure if I could mentally push myself to finish at 3 minutes left to go. My brain just isn't wired to do HIIT by myself currently.. But I got it done. And I was just as out of breath and sweaty as if I was at the gym. As for the dead hangs, I added those. I need to get back to having a decent grip strength. I can't do pull-ups if I can't hold on.. and I can't go back to rock climbing in this state lol. P.S. I'm officially down 5lbs since Jan 2. This is where it starts to get hard. We're past the water weight loss. Now, it's to balance out the fat and muscle...1 point -
Some Changes...
techno reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
Cheers all. I know most aren't into feedback and all that jazz but I really do appreciate it. Anything constructive too. We can't make our FG better if we don't know how everyone feels. Its a radical change but we've needed some of it for a while. It also means alot of space for scope because some things are technically 'unfinished' in my eyes so room for all your ideas and - hopefully - some type of support that you all feel like you can get involved in and do yourselves to make this place even better. In short: Brand New Homepage - better ways to not lose sight of the fact our place here is way more than just a forum now New Game Hubs Page New Patch Updates function - to be introduced for games of our choice Opens up more multiple pages of stuff to be added - which could be literally anything Merch updated with a few things we've previously ordered and know it works Brand new Polls page - wrapping up every poll across the entire site in one place Articles to be used as a place to better show off our FG game night stories - and everything else blog like and clearly loads more potential extra work went into to make the views work for desktop, tablet and mobile views Just keep talking up and sound off. Its been a great start to 2021 for FG with all the things going on so far; obviously i'm a little busy atm with 5 more little crazy ones to look after for a while but i'm doing what i can to make this year a fucking great one. Heres hoping theres some inspiration in there that you too want to jump on the bandwagon 🤠 (no horse and cart emoji, so you get a cowboy smile instead)1 point -

I have to say mate you were very unlucky with your auto shutoff. Mine turned off as I went into that long left handed and miraculously my guess at where the track was worked out whilst I wrestled with the controller. Still not sure what was up with that last track as my optimal time was near as damn it what Greebs did, but for the life of me I just couldn’t get the sectors hooked up resulting in a fastest lap that was seconds away from what I could have done. Just a disappointing race from my side unfortunately1 point -

Was a good bunch of races. I got my strategy wrong in the first race choosing a car that was awful on fuel but really enjoyed the longer distance. The second race was full of mistakes, braking too late mostly, so happy with 4th in the end. Lee getting stuck in cockpit view was amazing 😅 Final race both Kiwi and I had TV shutdown messages literally within minutes of each other. My message telling me I had 60 seconds to stop shutdown obscured the whole screen and I went headfirst into a wall. This happened the previous week so well done me, I got what I deserved.1 point -
GT Sport - FG Races
GazzaGarratt reacted to Greboth for a topic
This weeks races were a good selection @phil bottlemixing up fast and technical across the 3. Race 1 - Blue Moon Bay oval 30 laps Gr.3 We raced this track a few weeks ago but a much shorter race and without tyre wear or fuel usage. I'd used the GTR before and thanks to my Not Matt Racing livery I was going to use it again. I done a little practise to know that 10 lap old super softs were still faster than fresh racing hards and with fuel in the GTR only lasting 11-12 laps I'd settled on doing 3 stints of 10 laps each. My strategy was a gamble though based on an assumption others wouldn't be running super softs meaning I could lap quicker. Though it was risky as if I got caught in the pack then the tow would nullify my tyre advantage and 2 pitstops meant I was open to being challenged if someone eked out 15 laps of fuel and doing 1 stop. Phil had left fuel and tyre usage on for qualifying so experience and tactics came in to play, burn as much fuel as possible then pit for new tyres, no fuel and then go for a qualifying lap. Again this was a gamble as a tow helps but catching people at the wrong point of the oval does cost time and I'd only have 2 or 3 laps of actual qualifying. I got a good first lap to get provisional pole and was going better on my second but messed it up allowing Kiwi to take provisional pole. I knew a faster lap was possible so a quick dive in the pits for another new set of super softs saw me take pole. On to the race, the first corner was going to be a big deciding point of the race for me - you start getting a tow around 1 second back in GT Sport, if I could break that I was going to be in good shape. Thankfully I nailed T1 and staring at the gap to second; 1 second, 1.1 seconds, 1.2 seconds. I'd nailed T1 and got a good enough run out of it that second place wasn't in the two. After this it was a simple case of drive as fast as possible and I pulled out, I think, about 6 seconds over the first 10 laps and sticking to plan I pitted. This dropped me to the back of the field so it was now time to see how everyone else's pit stops would fall. Over the next few laps everyone pitted giving the lead back to me though I think some had stretched to lap 13 or 14 which was a concern if it could be stretched to finish without another pit stop. Lap 20 came and my second stop, this dropped me to 4th but I was gaining enough on the cars in front to know I could catch them before the end. Though without pitstops I doubt I would be able to break the tow so it would then be free for all for who could get the best tow for the line. Thankfully my gamble paid off as just as I caught up to, I think, Mike he pitted, then Kiwi pitted leaving me to chase Lee. I think I got within a few seconds and then Lee also pulled in to the pits. After this it was just keeping it clean to take the win. For all the only tuning left jokes, it ended up being quite a tactical race and one I didn't know how it would end up until Lee pitted near the end. The highlight of this race though had to be Mike asking me what tyres I would be using for me to say round ones 🤣 It was also good to see @Misneach_ bagging himself another podium. Race 2 - Sardegna Track A 7 laps Gr.4 ...or the Peugeot convention. In the quick practise going in to this race, I got the fastest time but Kiwi was close behind. Come qualifying I did a Bottas, I set the initial pace getting provisional pole but though I'd gone faster in practise I bottled my lap whereas Kiwi nailed his to take pole by just over 0.1 seconds. A few hiccoughs with getting the race started but eventually we got it sorted. From practise I knew I had the pace to get passed Kiwi but equally I know how well he can defend and it's easy to lose time and not be able to get passed. I think it was lap 1 Kiwi made a mistake on the fast left hander running wide giving me the easy lead but a mistake at the last corner allowed him to tow up behind me down the straight meaning a battle was on my hands. I left a little room open going in to the hairpin in the middle of the lap which Kiwi took taking the lead again. I think at this I followed Kiwi for the rest of the lap eventually getting passed again going in to the last hairpin where Kiwi ran a little wide giving me a gap. I think a few more mistakes from Kiwi left me unchallenged for the rest of the race. Race 3 - Kyoto Yamigawa + Miyabi 5 laps Gr4 We'd done quite a bit of practise of this track on Friday after GTA so most of us knew the track quite well. Both Mike and Lee had gotten close in practise prior to Tuesday so I knew I couldn't rest on my laurels. Come qualifying though I think both failed to nail their laps giving me pole bu ~1.5 seconds. With my pace and a short number of laps it was going to be relatively easy win so when Lee told me slow down the end of lap 1 I did...well that was a mistake. This put me in the pack with Lee, Mike and Kiwi meaning I couldn't run me normal lines or normal pace. Due to some battling at the start of lap 4 I was 3rd about 1.5 seconds off Mike in the lead but at this point I'd managed to drop Kiwi a little. Over the course of the lap both Lee and I caught up to Mike with Lee taking 2nd and me taking the lead at turn 6. With lots of corners to go I was counting my chickens just yet but sadly Lee got a penalty at the double hairpins giving me a little breathing room and allowing Mike to get 2nd right at the end.1 point -
GTS tips and etiquette
GazzaGarratt reacted to Greboth for a topic
TCS is a good idea to begin with but when your comfortable with it’s worth turning it down. Depending on the car, I’d say off or 1 should be the aim. The only tip I can think to add is turn off cones / markers / racing line. They can be helpful if you have no experience of a track but quickly become a hindrance as you don’t actually learn a track. Drive the first few laps with it on but note where they are using the marker boards or things around the circuit such as the marked holes in barriers, start of kerbs, flag indicators, trees etc. You can also combine these to build up a map of the track in your head giving you a better idea of braking points if your in another cars tow or off line trying an overtake or defending. It will also help when you drive a track you know in a different class.1 point -

Did you ever get this figured out? Curious on why you think it's a fiber necessity. Interestingly enough, finding a food lifestyle that works for you tends to help with so many health issues. For example, when I'm really on my game for food, I especially do not think about fiber. It sort of just happens with what I'm eating.1 point -

1) The minimap seems ok to me. I have not notice 2) Ghort seems ok still, don't forget - Paranoia, helps you know if someone aims at you - forward intel, helps you know were the enemy will respond - tracker tells shows you the enemy footsteps - field mic, helps with sound - a lot of barrels improve enemy detection So there's a shitload of ways to help detect the enemy and many are immune to ghost. I warzone, tracker is probably the best perk to run. I don't even look at the minimap and often ambush someone with the help of dead silience. 3) I have notice that too.1 point -

The Mac 10 is a very good SMG, probably similar levels to MP5 when Cold War first came out maybe slightly better. But the DMR where you can just spam as fast as you can with a 30 round mag and kill in 2-3 bullets is mad 😄1 point
