  1. FG has form for building our own machines so I will encourage that😁 My advice is to first decide what display you want, 1080p, 1440p or 4K. That will determine which GPU to go for. Personally I'd go for 1440p. It's the sweet spot between lovely graphics and high frames. There's some good GPUs that will give 1440 and all the fps, that won't destroy your wallet. Then we need to decide AMD or Intel. @Diddumswill be better suited for that advice as I'm Intel only.

  2. £1500 is a decent budget - a rig with a 3070 would be a fantastic entry point and it'll already get you ahead of the PS5 for the entire generation. This could handle 1440p like butter and would be great for 4K gaming for years to come. Trouble is you'd probably need another £500 on the side for peripherals and a monitor. If you aim to spend £1000 on the device and £500 on the side, you'll probably restrict yourself to 2K gaming and then have a pricey upgrade route going forward if you wish. It will be perfectly satisfactory though and still offer a great gaming experience but for just a few hundred more, you could literally put yourself in the high-end gaming bracket and get the best out of what is technically possible. It's a great time right now to be getting a new PC and there are some excellent pre-built devices available in the UK at exceptional prices. 2K would offer the best value and see you comfortable for many years and with a 3070, you'd get all the extra visual effects. 4K would be more demanding as time wears on but right now, a card like that should be comfortable at maxing out games at 60fps.

  3. Out of sheer laziness of not wanting to do a blog but still needing a place to hold myself accountable, this is going to be my place to track myself in my 2021 health goals (in addition to doing some online "bet" with a large [like couple of grand] winner pot). What will be in subsequent posts: Workouts. Goal progress. Random babbling. Fair warning, I babble online a lot when I have an online outlet. I prefer writing. Background: I have struggled a lot since I can remember on physical weight and perception. I'm Asian, and I grew up in a culture that prized women to be as skinny as possible and as fair-skinned as possible. So, between my mother commenting on how fat I was (when in reality, I wasn't but I did not realize that at the time), to my father doing his best to undo the mental damage of that whenever he was home from business trips, let's just say I had a rather unhealthy relationship with food until I was 20. I barely ate due to being afraid to eat and also not having much money, and if I did, it was not the best thing, but it was what I could afford or what someone gave me. Unintentionally, I developed much healthier habits when I was stuck in the Philippines for a year. Between combat martial arts training and just eating real food, I found a sense of peace in it. Nutrition is a rabbit hole I can dive into for hours and days. So, I've gone back and forth between being relatively healthy and being utterly lazy. Basically, when I stop fitting into my clothes comfortably, I start getting back into my health routine. I've been getting back into it since August of 2020. I have two doctors who keep tabs on me. One who I see on an almost weekly basis. Two coaches who really hold me accountable on not slacking and putting in the work. And, now, this plus my year-end goal to complete to move onto my next goal. The goals are related. I can't do the next part without completing this. Current: I'm starting today with the initial weigh-in. The online bet has a 6-month goal of losing 10% weight. Based on what I know about myself, I can safely and mostly easily lose that. The next (final) 10% will be more difficult, but it will be a healthy weight. Overall, I'm more focused on measurements than weight. I had a doctor in my teen years who noted that I was at a perfect weight based on medical knowledge, but it did not physically work for me (body fat percentage was too low). Exercise Programming: HIIT workouts 2x a week (social) Boxing workout 1x a week (social) Weights 1x a week with some added cardio (home) Nutrition improvements: Intermittent fasting with an 8 hour window to eat Keto/carb cycling for my sanity (keto-paleo fan, but I've learned that I do a lot better when I cycle it) Keeping the dairy but lowering consumption Focusing on high-quality versus quantity

  4. I found this space so useful to track my training. Spreadsheets are fun and all that but there’s nothing quite like some words and feelings!

  5. Pics and videos? Lolz. I don't even let darling husband take photos of me hahah. I have also actively stopped in the middle of a movement if I saw my trainer trying to do either to me hahaha. Also, did the thread because I figured I would join you in this!

  7. 1/2/21 Workout *Note --> none of my workout posts will include warm ups and cool downs. My warm ups are specific to my issues like right shoulder knots, lower back tightness, calf tightness... in addition to usual warm ups. Functional focus with some cardio Buy In --> 100 single unders (or 50 double unders) 5 Rounds Forward Crawl 10 feet Reverse Crawl 10 feet Right Lunge 2 Air Squats Left Lunge 2 Air Squats Reverse Crawl 10 feet Modified Gorilla Crawl 10 feet Walk back 10 feet High Knees 10 feet Reverse Crawl 10 feet Cash Out --> 100 single unders (or 50 double unders) Last Call --> 10 push ups, 10 sit ups, 25 air squats Thoughts: I truly hate cardio.

  8. As part of looking for something to entertain whilst stuck in the house this year, i've really started to get into my board games as part of having something different to do whilst stuck in the house. The general feel for these have been to either be single player games or decent group games that aren't too difficult to get to grips with so the kids could join in easily. We've really enjoyed these so far and i thought it'd be good to share the experiences of these games with you all I'll continue to add to the thread as the collection grows as i have no doubt it will! So here goes!!! @GazzaGarratt - Told you i'd make the thread eventually!! 🤣 Edit: To be clear on the Stretch rating, i'm using a proper scale of 1-10 where 5 is an average game not poor

    Trials Games

Does anyone own any of the Trials games? The main ones being Trials Evolution, Trials Fusion and Trials Rising? I love these games, easy to play but in my case, very hard to master. Extreme tracks still kick my arse. I wondered if we had enough people to do a Trials based challenge in the way the old GT Sport Time Trial was done. It would be completed in your own time, however many times you like. I know not too long ago EpicGames had given away Trials Rising for free, so maybe some of you picked that up? I've included a poll to select (if any) of the games you own, this could be done on any platform too, be it 360, PS3, XBX, PS5 or PC.

  11. Well after that 56 minute, no wipes , run I’m sure we could all get this title . If we could drive sparrows and jump we could probably go flawless !

@GazzaGarratt - I might, again, need to ditch out during final encounter. Depends on how quickly we manage today. So, maybe you could hop in if I need to leave?

Came here to say i'd be struggling just because of stuff I need to do but looks like you already have 6 which is ace to see. Lets see how the pattern works out here on out as i'm sure we can get some times even when you're both back at work @RenFengge 👍

  17. I think we said we'd do Bluemoon this Tuesday so I'll put that in the calendar. Next week's daily races are funny because there are two Gr.4 races, one at Monza and the other at Tokyo. Which we've just done ourselves😁 The third race is Gr.3 and Interlagos, so we'll go for that I imagine. Any requests, suggestions, let us know, I'll add to the calendar.

  18. It's a fantastic machine. I had to do a double take on the brand, then looked it up that Sage is the same as Breville here in the US. We have the same machine but an older model. I think it's about 10 years old now, come to think of it! Looks like they improved the grinder too on your model. Enjoy it! Don't be afraid of it. I sure was initially lol. But, it's so awesome to be able to have properly brewed espresso at home. I haven't gotten the milk foaming and steaming down perfectly, but just because I can't draw a swan in my drink, doesn't mean it isn't good!

    PC gaming for noobs

When I mean "pre-build" i mean like getting it from a PC builder. Here in the US, I bought my laptop from Maingear. My desktop is coming from Xidax. You can customize your build with them down to the thermal paste... and get service and a warranty. I think one of the builders you have in the UK is ChillBlast? I would try going to a PC builder and discussing what you need with them. If you're concerned about upsell, I think there's plenty in the clan who would review the specs for you. My rule of thumb when I look into building a PC is that I do not cheap out on the stuff that is difficult or time consuming to replace (motherboard, GPU, CPU). I'll save coin on going from 64GB ram to 32GB ram knowing that I can add ram later. I'll save a bit on the hard drive from the builder since that's a relatively easy swap later or I can add storage space as needed. Power supply doesn't have to be the most watts initially. Again, something easy to upgrade. If you're going to overclock, then get the better thermal paste if it's an option. If you're not, then don't waste your $$ on it... even if it is like a few dollars more. However, in my experience of graphic arts, gaming, and such for computers, you're going to want a powerful GPU and CPU. Monitor quality is going to be super important for your photography if you are hoping for super accurate colors during editing. Calibrating your monitor is a whole other discussion. I know you said about looking at resources to go through for researching this? I skim pcmag and tomshardware. I tend to read a little in PCGamer. But, I do take all that information from everywhere on the web and basically bounce thoughts off others in like Reddit. £1500 is a great starting point budget for a PC. You will get something very kick-ass in that range.

  21. Spend the bulk of your budget for the PC on the GPU for gaming. Then, spend a hefty amount on the CPU, that will help with gaming and your photography.

    PC gaming for noobs

Having spoken briefly to @Diddums he suggested at least £1500 which is the ball park I was in. @RenFengge as I have no clue I was thinking I need someone to build as I'd guess you don't want to go pre-built

  23. Well this Christmas Day run was... interesting. This will be the first time, in my 3 years of running, where I've actually fallen over! I was running on a byway, around 3 miles in to the run and I somehow either tripped or lost my footing on a rock. It's very uneven ground but also a path I've run many times before. Anyway, not to be defeated. I checked my foot over and felt like I could carry on. So this actually was my present to myself.
