Time Trials Season 2 - GT Sport and Assetto Corsa
phil bottle and 2 others reacted to Greboth for a topic
Welcome one, welcome all, Speaking with Phil the other day about AC I suggested running an AC time trial and Lee said he was thinking about reviving the GT Sport time trial. So in the immortal words; why not both! I'm thinking a similar format to how I did the GT Sport time trial before - a week running Monday - Sunday, I use a randomiser to select a car class and a track and fastest time wins. There will have to be a few differences with AC, as AC doesn't have Balance of Power that GT Sport does. So GT can be done by class and any car of that class can be used where AC will be specific cars. I can't see why AC on PC and PS4 would be different and as George should soon have my copy of AC, opens it up for him or anyone else to join in too. So, specifics - I'm thinking for each round GT Sport: 1 Track 1 Car class - open to any car of that class. Balance of Power (or BoP for short) enabled Everything else free to do what you want - set up, tyres etc. Assetto Corsa 1 Tracks 2 cars - Can't run classes really in AC unfortunately so will have to be specific cars. I'm thinking 2 cars as opens up for one car to be a challenge and the other to be a little easier to drive. As with GT Sport, everything else - set up, tyres etc. to do with as you want. I'm thinking round 1 to start on Monday 22 June but posting now to get peoples ideas if they want changes to above made or have something specific in mind? @phil bottle @GazzaGarratt @G_dub52 and anyone else that wants to join in.3 points -
Assetto Corsa Competizione

Standard AC is a great game - it's got everything a racing sim should; a decent selection of tracks with car spanning the years from road cars, to GT and single single seaters. Where AC really shines though is on the PC as you can mod it - Not all mods are free but a lot are and those you pay for are usually pretty cheap. It isn't only cars and tracks though they add a lot - mods have been created to effectively update the game - adding more varied weather types, better shaders and textures as well as hosts of other QoL stuff. AC:C is very similar to AC in look and feel but limited to only the GT cars and tracks of the Blancpain GT series. Currently this is only GT3 cars but there will be GT4 cars coming in the future. If you prefer your GT racing then ACC is the way to go.2 points -

I've had mine about a year know I think and there's literally no sign of wear, the cushions are still solid and you can sit in it for hours at a stretch and still walk when you stand up!! If you're unsure about it, when the 'Rona eases back, come up the A12 and try it for yourself2 points -

Well, in hindsight I should have bought one 14 weeks ago because i've been spending 8+ hours a day at my dining table and these are not comfortable chairs. I have a habit of breaking chairs because of my weight and this particular chair i've been sitting in has certainly taking a beating. They aren't designed for this type of use I don't think lol. Hopefully the secret lab ones come back in stock soon as I need to set up an office space moving forward for work, gaming and TTRPG2 points -
Battlefield 3 Remastered

I probably didn't start playing it properly until 18 months had passed. The initial netcode plus the invisible barrier glitches were tragic. Thankfully they really turned it around - had it launched as stable as it ended, it probably would have caused huge damage to the likes of Ghosts, Advanced Warfare and even going into Black Ops 3. Large conquest matches were epic fun as were the battles on Locker and Metro.2 points -

I would not buy a 'gamer' chair. Find yourself a nice office chair for a fraction of the price that will provide better support.2 points -

I got me one of these .. HERO Black / Black WWW.NOBLECHAIRS.CO.UK A real hero! No matter how difficult the battle or the stressful day, you can always count on him. Sophisticated details and an impressive form. due to my height, don’t know your weight / physical dimensions but there’s plenty of width to the seat. Bloody thing weighs 30kg but it’s well engineered and a lovely bit of kit. I don’t regret a penny of the price tag 10/102 points -

Comes out June 23rd. Only stumbled on it when looking for AC for PS4. Can someone explain how this is different to the standard AC game thats already out? Is it a brand new game or the same game with extra content? Didn't even know the AC franchise existed before Greebs started talking about it here.1 point -

Event Title: Sunday 21st June Call of Cthulhu FG Taster Session Event Author: Middle Class Caveman Calendar: Community Calendar Event Date: 06/21/2020 03:00 PM Hi folks, I have been commissioned by @Diddums to lead a taster session for a different type of game. As you all probably know I play a bit of D&D on a Wednesday, I absolutely love it and it's really immersive and fun. So we are going to try the table top role playing game style here at FG. Using Discord and a little bit of preparation we will be able to go on an amazing journey of the mind! Call of Cthulhu is a HP Lovecraft inspired adventure game (think Scientology.....yeh that guy!) which is based on mystery solving, the occult and mythos. Games are generally story driven (rather than battle driven like D&D) which allow players to be more immersive in their characters and skills. To give you an 'idiots guide' what will happen is that I will lead a group of you on a 'mission' to solve a mystery (kind of like scooby do!) based around a certain time period, event or creature. An example of a previous campaign i've run is that of the Mary Celeste and some spontaneous murders that have occurred. My group of characters had to work out what was causing the murders (ghosts of the Mary Celeste) and how to stop that (spectral mirror to let the ghosts know they were dead and to fuck off to the after life). The big 'fun' of CoC is that the more you learn about the occult and mythos, the more sanity you lose....this creates a unique challenge because the more you know, the less you can do (as a character) so you have to become creative. All we are going to need is 4 - 6 players, you have some a choice from there which I'd like to comment on below. You can either create your own character or use one of my pre-made ones, let me know below if you intend to play and what you'd like to do visa-vi character. You can either buy some cheap dice from amazon or use an app on your phone, i'm not really too worried about that. We are tentatively going to say next Sunday 21st June with a 3pm kick off time, the session will last 3-4 hours as i'd like to get you through a full short campaign. Peace and love Elliott Sunday 21st June Call of Cthulhu FG Taster Session N.B. If viewing this via the FG App, please visit the Calendar event via browser to RSVP. Thanks.1 point

Map and potential spawn points.
GazzaGarratt reacted to J&B for a topic
Thought this might help some, if you decide to run any matches regarding player spawn points. But if you just remember that someone could spawn to the left or right of you at the start of a match, you should be ok. Myself and Aaron have been caught out before which ended in a good fire fight. We have also taken advantage of this and caught a couple of Duos off guard as well. Happy hunting.1 point -

PS5 UI Will be a Complete Overhaul, Sony Exec Says - IGN WWW.IGN.COM A Sony executive shared how the PS5 UI will be a complete overhaul over the PS4 OS. I'm glad they are doing a overhaul as the PS4 UI was pretty dated, quite messy and awfully clunky at times. I hope they don't go too far into Microsoft territory where the interface is needlessly bloated and complex though. A responsive, functional and visually clean one is all that's needed.1 point -

Hi folks, ive decided to set up a small desk/office space in my house as I’m currently set up at the kitchen table and it’s getting old fast. Can anyone recommend a decent chair for a heavier man? I’ve been looking at the Secretlab Omega series chairs as they do a cool batman one! However, I have no real experience of them: Omega Chair Any advice is welcome!1 point -
XIII Remake
Riff Machine reacted to GazzaGarratt for a topic
OMG. This game when it came out on the original Xbox was one of the greatest cel shader games i've ever played. The story was absolutely brilliant throughout and I was totally expecting sequels to follow and left disappointed that they didn't do any. I would absolutely pick this up again. Its one of those games that doesn't get old due to how it was originally made. The gunplay was so good back then i really hope it doesn't lose anything buying being remade for this current gen.1 point -

This is probably the most sensible advice but I'm lost when it comes to chairs.....any advice?1 point -
I knew you'd like this! For me, Cthulhu is a really easy game to start people off with in terms of playing a character and a DM. Unlike D&D the 'home-brew' stories for Cthulhu are so much easier to put together as it's not super combat heavy at all (and it doesn't have a million books with stats etc to complicate it all). However, there in lies the downfall of it as it's easy for it to be a bit too story driven and not action driven. I've not run a game in years so will be interesting to see what happens.1 point

Battlefield 3 Remastered
J4MES OX4D reacted to uberwarrior for a topic
BF3 was my first foray into the Battlefield series and had stuck with everything BF related until recently when I start playing CoD again after a long time. I wouldn't have a problem with them remastering this game tbh. However, BF6 needs to be as good as or preferably better than BF4 (which will be a hard act to follow), either way. If Dice get their shit together, I will be all over this when it comes out.1 point -

BF4 had massive problems for nearly a year after release with net code being a massive issue but they put a lot of resources into and opened a new studio in LA to assist. In the end it was a very good game and the community maps were a great touch. Still personally prefer BF3 as I went from playing on Xbox 360 to PC and it was like going from night to day. Top offer @Greboth, absolute legend of a cunt man 💛 I actually didn't even realise AC was on PS4, was thinking about resurrecting the time trial stuff because of how good GT 7 looked. What made GT stand out initially as a series was the detailed yet easy to understand customisation of the cars and the vast campaign with multiple classes to go and accomplish. I really hope that the campaign they are promising delivers, it looks stunning.1 point
