So we didn't have any backups yet, we hadn't hit the time frame where I felt it was needed yet. They are active now however. The particular issue we are having isn't fixed yet, but I know not to attempt to sort out the permission again. Once our current ticket is closed I will open a new one based off of this error. (TL;DR I learned from my mistake) I don't mind putting in the work to make a nice place, as you all have probably noticed I feel passionate about these things, and will try to make everything look nice, clean, and inviting for others.

So, as a group lets work on this. Trying to not be as strict as most servers, and not as freeformed as others Clearly mark your build area! Respect other peoples build area's. Don't just wander into someones house. Ask first before you build within sight of someone. Don't destroy the terrain just because you can. (Example: Dylan liked to set trees on fire to mark the way to his house....) Replant Tree's - unless its in your build area. If you can't replant the massive trees that are everywhere because you dont have the saplings, don't chop them down. You will get the recipe eventually. (NOTE The saplings you get from logging are not the ones you need to regrow the larger massive trees.) No Single block towers No single block wide bridges/ roads in the sky Be careful with the pranking and trolling. It sucks to be working on something niceonly to have your neighbor building a massive Pikachu in the sky. Don't kill Villagers! People can trade with them Don't build Villager Farms. They crash servers Don't build mob spawners. Unless handled right, they crash servers. I will work on one at the spawn once everything else gets sorted. Don't build massive animal farms..... See above If you loot from villagers, take the chest as well, so others don't think stuff is there How's this look to you all?

I flew around and generated all this Where I spawned is marked Spawn. Its in the middle of a massive forest. I moved the spawn to a better spot for you all to get to a mix of biomes, also near a massive tree. It is marked New Spawn. I am going to build the spawn base around the tree, so please don't chop it down. I have the coordinates and can show people how to teleport to the old spawn. The grey mass on the map to the west of that spawn is a mass of mountains that go passed the build height limit. I can't even imagine building in them, you will be mining non-stop The white lumpy island south of the Mountains is a Witchwood Forest. Witchwood is used in a lot of end game recipes, so be careful chopping them down. South of the new Spawn is a some flat lands, and a nice wasteland as well as the green water to SW corner is another wasteland. North is an Ominous Forest. What this means is that the sky is always dark, and that the water is poisonous. If no one builds there then at some point I might add something there. Lastly, in the far SW is a village that is jacked up. If a brave soul wants to go down and help rebuild the roads and things, the villagers will pay you in emeralds. With my having flown around and generated the chunks, you guys should be able to get to stuff fairly easily without issue. I am going to work on laying out town. If you see a spot you want to be in, let me know and I can try to teleport folks there tomorrow, or tell you how you can do it yourself.

Hey guys. Not sure if you've heard of this, but there's a new tv show on Dave HD where they have guests playing old games and just having a laugh. I caught a bit of an episode the other night and they we're playing crash team racing in a 4 way split screen. Probably worth setting on your sky Plus box as it's an easy und enjoyable watch.

I'm sure I am missing something important out as I am doing this from memory. Things are a little easier being is an online server as other players can give you things which speeds things up however the basics are still the same. Basic controls; Mouse - move your aim Left click - perform an action (punch, dig, mine etc) Right click - place / use selected item W,A,S and D - move Ctrl - Run (though I think run can be activated by pressing W then press and holding it) Shift - Stealth / crouch Space - Jump E - Open inventory Numbers 1-9 at top of keyboard - select things from your quick inventory (the line of items at the bottom) Q - Drops one of the current item stack your holding. If you want to drop a whole stack, left click and drag it out of your inventory. J - Brings up a full screen map. In your inventory; Left click - select everything in that stack or if holding items place everything in that stack Right click - pick up half the stack or if holding items, place 1 of that item Crafting; You can craft on the move by pressing E however it is quite limited in what you can make. To craft most things you need a crafting table (I'll get on how to build one in a bit). To craft anything you need to places the right items in the right order - with one of the mods everything is on the right and side and searchable to find out how to build it. First things first in the game, being survival you need to survive - mobs spawn in dark places on the map or at night. The best way to avoid these at night it to sleep through the night which stops any spawning. On the server every player will need to sleep to skip the night. To sleep you will need to make a bed and to make a bed you will need a crafting table and ideally to have a crafting table you will need to have a house. So first things first; 1. Build a house - if you want to keep it simple (which I do just to start with) is build a small house (the smallest you want to build internally is 3 x 3 and 2 blocks tall). 2. Build a crafting table - find some wood and cut it down, you will need 1 blocks. Bring up your inventory by pressing E, place the blocks in to your crafting and it should come up with 4 planks. Place the 4 planks in a square and it will give you a crafting table. Select the crafting table and right click to place it. 3. Right click on the crafting table and you wil get more crafting options to build stuff 4. To build a bed you will need 3 planks (crafted from wooden blocks) and 3 wool collected from sheep. Place 3 planks in a horizontal row with 3 wool above them and you have a bed. Select the bed in your inventory and right click to place it. 5. A basic set is complete now build and do whatever you want. One of the most important tips I can think of is, if you crouch (by holding shift) you wont walk off the edge of blocks which is useful if you want to look over the edge of cliffs or if you want to build out with nothing underneath. The other most important tip is don't mine the block you're standing on or the one above your head. Not often but this will lead to your death at some point. Being survival you have health and need to eat. Heathwise long falls will hurt and mobs will hurt you too. Food wise, to eat select an item of food and right click to eat. As a general rule, cooked meat restores more of your food meter than fruit or vegetables. If you need to heal you will automatically do so but only if your food meter is full.

yeah that could be a problem! So move the big tree to one side, maybe plant a second one too? As I think it could look unbalanced with just one huge tree. Then have a little pagoda thing in the middle?

I didn't mean have a multicraft world, just a building like it with the exists going North, South, East and West. Something like this is what I was thinking: My scale is all wrong hence I gave up with half way through but you get the idea. Obviously too don't just need to use plain stone, grey was just an easy colour to show the design. Housing could then go around the outisde of these walls, like you get with towns around the outside of castles sort of thing.

If you guys want to start a "Tips/ tricks/ Help thread" I will answer anything I can. I listed the mods we are using, and there are really amazing youtube guides out there. Also, tomorrow I will most likely build the portals to the other worlds at the spawn. That way you guys can get a feel for them as well.

So, some folks build a column of dirt way up above tree's, and then build a single block wide road of dirt stretching across the sky. Its hard for mobs to spawn up there, so I get why they do it, but it really makes things look like shit. Thats what I was referencing in the rules. Most roads that I build are 5-7 blocks wide. 5 would be out and about in the world. 7 if its a main highway, or if its in town. If people want to build branches off of it, or have me do them, thats fine. I will just do the main ones as its a ton of work, I will do it in creative mode, and if it follows a pattern then it tends to look better.

Yes. Think of it this way. Minecraft is a community/ neighborhood. If you are looking to buy a home, and the neighborhood looks like crap, then you won't want to live/play there. If it looks nice, then you want to, and whats more, is if its really nice, then you might want to spend money on it.

I started on the very very early versions of Minecraft on pc. Moved over to Xbox then ps4 with Alex. Looking at the pc version now, it's bat shit crazy how much stuff there is. It's daunting at the moment, but love the community feel already.

I will try to answer your questions here. Everything is nerfed and different across the versions outside of the PC version. What this means is that the sky is the limit on PC, but on other versions you are seriously hampered by what you can do. My opinion: Since I have always been on PC, I think playing on other versions is a waste of time. Ipad/ PS4/ Xbox version cannot connect to PC, they cannot be modded, so why play on them? To a point I actually really feel bad for people on those versions. (We bought it for my son to play on his Wii U. It is still in the shrink wrap. lol) Mods are ONLY supported (currently) on PC versions of the game. There is not a playable demo. However you can find pirated versions out there that cannot connect to servers, but you can explore the game If you want to play this with us, you have to get the PC version. If you're looking at something like that for centre spawn, I can help build it as I've got a hectic week this week but from Sunday / Monday I should be off work and have plenty of time to build plenty. Obviously this is assuming we have a plan for the spawn so we can both work to a common goal. Which on that note, scrolling through those images it has given me an idea of what we could build. I'll have a go at planning it out later, like a quick aerial drawing or something.
