COD 2020 (Black Ops: Cold War?)

With the rumours of severely troubled development, the whole Cornoavirus business and the fact that we haven't heard or seen anything official, I kinda suspect that this years game is going to an utter shambles at launch.

Then we have rumours like this

Which makes me think it'll just be another RecycledOps game like BO4.

 

Really I think they should have just given us the MW2 Remastered MP this and skipped a new game entirely.

They should just redo release all the MW2 maps instead of another game. I'd love to play on Kowloon on the new engine.

Half the world wants new and fresh things, half the world wants old and sexy things. Whichever way CoD goes, they'll get a backlash, they always do.

 

If they can follow BO3 with a little of BO4 and then throw in MW2 remastered as an addition later down the line if you buy it is that the middle ground everyone wants?

It's looking like a cold war/vietnam war crossover type thing. I wish they would try and 'copy' Black ops 2 rather than black ops because the 2nd game was hands down the best game they've ever made!

I remember when Treyarch used to be the big innovator in Call of Duty - now they just recycle the Black Ops brand and the usual suspects of maps over and over and I'm getting sick of it. I wouldn't care if we got Summit, Nuketown and Firing Range for the 100th time but how about give me 15 NEW maps on top also? 

 

I'm not the biggest fan of MW2019 and IW made so many mistakes in its design but my god did they at least try and do something different and take the series further. Treyarch on the other hand do nothing now - 3 fucking years working on Black Ops 4 and we didn't even get a campaign. Most players hated specialists yet they built the entire game around them because they completely fucked up development for the first two years and then had to desperately claw together any old shit from the BO3 SDK and then brand it a new game. 

 

Let's not forget, Treyarch were brought forward to replace Sledeghammer on this one so they have even less time to concoct something. They did do their best work on 18 month to two year cycles though back in the day so maybe they will have more time to be focused now than a 3 year window to try too hard and mess it up. Either way, I can't believe we'll be getting another Black Ops game - I'd happily take a re-imagining of the original especially 10 years on but we're more likely to get another cartoony type game with recycled assets and painfully old ideas.

Looks very cartoony so yep, I'd say it's definitely Treyarch's game.

Looks ok tbf. Like people said in comments, appears to be no doors and the minimap is there too. Plus colourful maps are always nice.

 

Is it me or does the gun seem pretty big though? 😂

Don't care when it's set, what it's called wether it's realistic or cartoony, has specialists or boots on the ground or all the other bullshit people get hooked up on as long as it's fun to play. If it's not fun to play all.the other shit is irrelevant imo

That's how it was in MW2019 - I don't know why they include it tbh as I've never heard one call out using it!

That's either alpha or pre-alpha footage. So I wouldn't take anything away from it.

They went to this to try an alternative to the mini map so I think now the have the development completed, theyll likely add it in on every game to see if it works. Battle Royale games always have them but not sure if that's a link to one being in this game tbh.

yeh, I use it all the time in Warzone. I’ve never noticed it in Multiplayer lol

Well it is what it is, some people like Treyarch, some like IW games. At the end of the day I think it's unfair to blame Treyarch for a game that's not released or made yet, in which as stated they had to "Rescue" from Sledgehammer/Raven who abandoned/bailed/fired whatever it is.

 

I think people should revisit last October, now MW on launch was the worst ever? They are still fixing things in it, the updates are getting bigger the sbmm feels higher. The game lags more after every update. It takes longer to search for games, I struggle to get a game below 70-90 ping MMS most of the time.

 

As for recycling maps, Crash/Shipment/Vacant/Rust/ Backlot etc

 

So what did MW give us for innovative new maps? Shoothouse fair enough. Atlas Superstore, gee thanks I will just grab a tent and hide in a shelf like the rest.

 

Base maps: Low in numbers and unsatisfying. Picadilly, Azhir Cave, Ramazaa, I would state more but that's literally half of them.

 

Now I'm no anti or pro either developer, but I'm all for fairness.

 

I'm sure IW had some time for MW and didn't exactly blow everyone away from launch. Some people quit at the beta.

 

The newer engine is nice, the gunsmith rocks. 

Took them a ridiculous time to add warzone, which I don't really care for but others wanted it.

 

PS no BO4 campaign doesn't bother me, the game was cartoony, was full of specialists, OP DLC guns.

 

But the maps flowed pretty good for the most part. I enjoyed the game, but probably because I hadn't played in years and it was my first game back.

 

If advanced warfare or infinity warfare were one of the games I cameback on, who knows I might not even be here lol.

I have that issue as well. It's definitely a COD problem. Every other shooter I have under 20ms ping. With COD I'm lucky if it's under 45ms. Usually it's 75. Shit servers.

Hopefully they push back the release to Christmas/New Year time. Would rather that then release a half finished game again like the last 2 COD's...

At this rate they'd be better off milking Warzone for another 15 months and just releasing BO'5' as they would have in 2021. It was tight enough with them taking over Sledgehammer but with Corona on top, it feels like it's gonna be a half-baked product. Warzone has only been out a few months so it would be daft to move players away from that seemingly so soon. 

 

They could probably whip up MW2 MP Remastered too.

That would all make too much sense for Activation though
