Honestly, the far-near call out works best IMO.  There’s a nice spot to stand on the back wall where you can see all of them perfectly.

Yeah we will be sticking with near-far, Charlie was only joking when he suggested mimicking the sound of each oracle .

I know where you mean on the back wall, and it works pretty well but I’ve also seen teams go to the ‘damage’ platform and call from there, as I think it’s easier to distinguish fear and near from there. Will try it next time I’m there.
Have LFGd this a few times now and come across some pretty odd strategies !! Nothing beats near far, left right middle !!

  2. I think last night we had two problem , DPS and staying alive, esp for a 4 phase.

Actually not sure about divinity, think I do most of my damage with the two supers you can get off, and I think speed to the damage point is probably the key.

Ideally I’d say the home team should be in centre as times vengeance starts, this means calling the oracles and moving. Not sure if one needs to stay on the plate, but I think once the plate is built it’s built. Also send one of the away team back as the third oracles are called. If all these 4 get doubles supers off (or at least 3 of them as ideally one would be well) that’s a ton of damage . I think this speed to damage is the key, we only get 28 seconds so losing 10 is a disaster. Also means we would get a second well which makes supplicant control at end of damage so much easier

I shall read absolutely fuck all in here and then hold everyone up for 15 mins every fight whilst Leigh @GazzaGarratt explains it all. I mean, I could do the research but I prefer to go for the authentic experience.

Instead I shall present you with a graphic representation of what my team mates can expect:

What do you want me to concentrate on? I can play all three and all are well into light level. I do have the top right mod unlocked along with the launcher stun for unstoppable (should there be any). I can try and get the mods for Warlock and Hunter, not sure what the legend sectors are but I'm 1319 now. I don't have the crash exotic either or those Warlock gloves that were OP with the poison. Remember some of us can only be one thing like @RenFengge is only a Warlock. I know you, me, and @Venom  can be anything. Thoughts?

I was thinking me you and crispy as Titans, La as a warlock and aj and Charlie as hunters. It is tempting to have two warlocks though , does aj just play hunter, or have I got that totally wrong?. . @Teenwolf25  would be interest to get your thoughts on team composition ?

  5. Fair points Clive gut I’m hopeful for TG , fully master worked it does a lot of ancillary damage which then held chain the next lightening conductor. I’m not wedded to it but will probably give it a try I. The opening encounter and see how it goes.

RR was @RenFengge’s idea and I think could be awesome as the fanatics drop arc fluid. Again will try it and see how it goes, so much add clearing to do !!

  6. Two days to go !!! Yeah, personally cant wait for 6pm UK Saturday to get stuck into VoG again, and been doing a bit of reading and thinking about strats/ loadouts/ advice / prep etc. This will naturally have some spoilers in so anyone wanting to go in blind, good luck!!!

Firstly  - Contest mode - for those who dont know our light level will be capped at 1300 through out the raid, whilst the Vex will be higher - i would expect they'll start 15 levels above, and by the Boss room they'll be 25 levels above - sort of GM level, but without the extra modifiers that GM's bring. So easier than GM, but not easy. Personally I'll be looking to stay alive as a priority, so things like:

       high recovery stat

variety of solar / arc / void chest pieces to easily up damage resistance depending on each encounter  (think i saw somewhere that VoG is mainly void and solar, but who knows whats changed)

mods like protective light and ability to carry a few stacks of it (, extra charge, stacks on stacks etc)

I'm sure many of us remember VoG very well (and assuming its not changed too much) but worth thinking about things that have changed in D2 which will have an impact, such as:

champions and anti-champion mods. I'd bet my life on overload minotaurs on the 'opening the door' starting encounter, and bound to be a few more throughout (unstoppable wyvern anyone?)

dont forget anti-barrier is not just for champions - Hobgoblin snipers are hopefully going to suffer, the bane of many runs !

swords - werent really a thing back in VoG's day, but potentially super useful now

some of the go to high level supers werent really a thing in original VoG, so well and tether and stasis might help a ton, and thundercrash maybe (not sure about this cos of the Relic)

deaths - 6 revives only, not the constant revives we could do, stay alive!!

mods - the whole mod system is new, warmind cells might be super useful, protective light and powerful friends etc - I'm going to try and get some synergies across my team just to try and keep people on their feet

grenade launchers didnt exist, and i bet Anarchy gets a lot of use this weekend - try to unlock the top right mod on the seasonal artefact, seems to promise a lot of anarchy fun. Rockets dont go through the relic shield, but i wonder if GL grenades do? Can always jump!

Add-clear - VoG of old is very mechanic light compared to todays raids, the main issue was staying alive in the face of huge waves of adds, so add clearing exotics like Riskrunner and Trinity Ghoul might be good calls, and add clearing supers will be helpful for a lot of the early stages

Two other top tips from back in the day

Bubble titan with helm of saint 14 was a total joy in dealing those vex coming up the steps!

At Aetheon, even if your screen to totally black, you can still see your fireteam's names - JUMP TO THE NAMES

Feel free to add more -long time since VoG and I've got the memory of a goldfish !

  7. Yeah I heard stasis in the crucible had got worse as the hunters had a buff !!

I get what you say about the grind and do agree it makes it easier for the more casual player to an extent, but ..... I’m guessing GMs will need 1335 though , so that’s a lot of levelling needed into the artefact and limited ways to improve your base power. That’s another reason why the DSC non-pinnacle decision is so bad, such a fun raid , relatively easy, nice source of pinnacles for most people. I suspect VoG won’t be so straightforward. The power grind without DSC is going to be pretty tough so I’m hoping they reverse that decision.

  8. Yeah I'm a bit meh with it at the moment. I liked the brief bit of story so far, and I think they have got their seasonal story telling on point after last season, so hoping it will continue to build. New weapons seem good and at least they have added quite a few I believe, and really looking forward to the return of VoG, expecting that to be awesome. However the things I'm meh about are:

Transmog - seems to be a big part of the new season and finding it hard to care - clearly been done for Eververse purposes, which i don't mind, it just wont engage me at all.

DSC - not dropping pinnacle i think is a piss poor decision  - esp since the Eyes of Tomorrow drop rate seems to be still terrible despite allegedly being patched, feel bad for those who have run it many times and not got it, hence why i put the Thursday raid up as normal

The seasonal stuff seems to be a copy / paste of last seasons war table/recaster stuff, near unchanged

Override - done it 4 times , here is my guide to anyone struggling with it:

    • load into an area with a tower
    • mindlessly kill enemies until tower goes away (i know there are mechanics, but so mixed up and convoluted just a mess). Helpful tip , kill things with a sidearm for seasonal challenge
    • drop down hole, into horrible jumping section, die a lot until 'joining allies' appears
    • copy/paste boss fight from Battleground boss fight, but best to ignore boss and kill ads with side arm for seasonal challenge
    • pick up loot

Feels like a copy/paste of that public event we had to do a few seasons back (which as I recall was against the Cabal, who strangely are the enemy here again) and then a Vex-themed Battleground boss fight tagged on.

Missing the 50 level grind, always found that a blast and good way of levelling the artefact - given one of the main things to do this season will be gilding the Conq seal, that's essential, but now just seems to be a bounty grind (day 1 of new season, found myself doing Europa bounties, thats not a good sign).

Still we got a new exotic mission to do and VoG to come so stuff to look forward to.

    HELLO!

FYI... We have SEVEN (7) signed up at the moment. Which means that we will be making a second team.

The other group that we dabble in D2 with is also looking for people to do this with. I have 2 from them looking for some people to play with/make a team. This pair (brothers) are based in the Netherlands.

Would everyone be good with possibly playing with a handful outside our group? Aside from our currently running/always public raid team, I don't think it would be any different than other FGers who haven't played with anyone.

If it means we get 12 instead of 10 I’m all for it

  10. Intriguing to see what will change and what will stay the same, hoping some of the iconic weapons come back with the raid related mods but I guess they may be armour mods now.

For those who’ve never been in VoG I guess it’s your call whether you want to try and have a fully blind raid, or mix it up with people who’ve done it before.  We’ve got such a large and active raid group at the moment we need to make sure that as many people as want day 1 experience get it.
