How far did you get into the game? The ammo shortages in mid to late game aren't really a thing unless you're just trying to spam rockets all day.

I've now unlocked all the guns and pretty much all mods relating to the guns so it's like having 20 different options and knowing which one to pick in relation to the enemies that I'm facing.

Slayer gates are an absolute blast and pit you against a shit tonne of enemies in an arena setting and all you have to do is to take them out. However the sheer volume of enemies makes it so interesting to how you approach it and every split second decision. It really makes you feel like a total bad ass when you complete these!!

Despite being a cunt with my shotgun I was consistently bottom of the scoreboard.

Also I have no fucking clue what anyone said all night.

It was ace, I needed that.

Certain games are a pain in the arse and not a great deal of fun but some of the gun games on the right map can be and it stops diddums being an arse with his shotgun and ruining it for others. The 3 step back humiliation is a bit much too.

Nice to see some new faces getting involved even if it makes it difficult to get a word in 😂

Well I think tonight we broke the record for a huge FG Friday on MW:R. A full 18 player lobby with even a few having to wait to get in. Absolutely mental.

Shipment Gun Game and Shotguns only never felt so crazy and ludicrous, and even more when we upped the knife kill pushback from 1 to 3. Somehow Tad still managed to win one with 5 push backs and 38 kills. Come to think of it Elliott, Greebs and Stretch did too.

The Norwegian Rage Machine. Rage quit.

Welcome to Paul Slamminbones for his maiden FG Friday - fit straight in getting 13 melee kills in of the first games he played. I was proud of the troll. Jordie was back too knowing, a d sniping his way to the top too.

Crispy was Mr. Sunshine, ofc you never had a doubt that wasn't going to happen, climbing the ladder only to be routed down the leaderboard with knife deaths. Elliott found Ajay's lying prone kill technique absolutely Deplorable- much to the joy of Alex and others for the lolz.

Didds yet again shown how amazingly great he is at listening to what we're playing. Like Rich said, he a totally can pick one gun...just the same shotgun for every single game.

No killstreak, Sniper Only Domination turned into a grenade fest on B. Not to mention the killstreak choppers. FML.

I think we'll need to find a few different game ideas to keep it fresh looking forward with that many people. However, it was a fantastic night of lolz and banter. Great games, great family.

In contrast to James' review, I've actually found this to be pretty spectacular so far.

The ammo shortages add an element of jeopardy and means that you are constantly positioning yourself correctly in relation to the gun you're using and the enemy type you're facing.  The melee options again add a tactical element to your current situation as to how you approach. Low on ammo, get that chainsaw out. Low on armour, use the flamethrower. Low on health, get that glory kill. For me it's a really high paced FPS chess match where one wrong turn can result in death, which I think is something to be commended. All too often FPS games are either far too easy or unfairly difficult. This feels placed in a good way where you'll always have an option to progress but can be brutal in how it punished you.

The variety in the guns and mods also adds another layer to this. For instance, just 1 shot from the modded shotgun to grenade into a cacademon's mouth sets then up for a glory kill. Just using the shotgun alone or the rifle would take a while to get them down to this state. So you can almost then use the cacademon as a pseudo health pack in times of trouble.

Agreed that the platforming changes the pace a little but it gives the secret searching some decent credence rather than just being found on the standard rails. Plus, the game cant be a balls to the wall shooter otherwise it would lose the impact when shit gets really heavy.

I also like the development of the character, guns and mods in the RPGesque manner. It helps to develop your slayer into your play style. For instance the first mod I got for my slayer was to activate the glory kills at a longer range. This means when I'm really in the crap I can potentially move myself quickly out of danger and get myself some health pretty quickly. I'm sure this will change as i unlock more guns and slots but it's nice to get that feeling of developing power over the course game rather than just be the mutts nuts at lvl 1.

Obviously my impression of this vastly differs from James' so it's probably important for you to watch a few vids on this to see if it floats your boat. IMO it's been an absolute blast to play and something so different to sink my teeth into that isn't a looter shooter or CoD. For me, totally deserving of the full price game tag and I cant wait to finish my first play through on ultra violence so I can hit it again on nightmare mode!!

    Day fucking whatever, don't care.

    Shit day!!
So same shenanigans as usual but Debbie had what I can only describe as an episode around lunchtime. She was struggling to find the breath to talk, heart rate jumped up to around 130bpm and was just totally not with it. Called 111 and after a 2hr wait, they advised us that we needed further consultation. After another 2hr wait we were told that we needed to be at A&E within the hr. I was given special dispensation to break isolation protocol and drive us to the hospital on the proviso that we only dropped Debbie off and didnt leave the car.

So this all sounded very slick, professional and by the books. But when Debbie arrived there it just wasnt the case and they weren't even expecting her and they thought she should have actually gone to A&E rather than the Coronavirus ward. After 5 mins of me dropping her off and going home she phoned me to say that it was all wrong and she needed to go home. Another 5 mins later they decided that they were going to swab her and another 5 mins later she was free to go. We won't know the results for another 3-5 days but all I care about is that she's home and not stuck away from me and the kids.

If the past week is anything to go by, the next few days are still going to be hard but I feel like the hardest part is now over. It's now a question of getting used to what we've got in front of us for at least the next 3 weeks

Keep safe all, and please dont be tempted to  break the threshold on this. Seeing what it's done to my mrs and her not be at the harsh end of the spectrum is horrifying. This is a long term change of mentality and it's not something we have to like but it is something we have to do.

I've played a couple of hours so far and it's an amazingly beautiful game however I don't think it is very good at all. I'm hoping things will change but I fear there are too many problems built into the core design of the game. This is Doom by name but not by nature - for some reason they've made ammo very sparse which means you can't go in all guns blazing. Instead you have to conserve ammo and trickle bullets to trigger a glory kill on practically every enemy. The AI is insanely brutal and a complete mess - you can be overran from every direction in places and your health shredded with no hope of defending yourself. The melee function is so weak its pointless and the game seems to want you to use the chainsaw which is hopeless against 10+ enemies and also require fuel. I spend a lot of time evading and scavenging rather than shooting.

The environments are stunning  but bland, and there is now a newly added emphasis on platforming which adds nothing other than more jumps and less open areas. The story is non-existent, the hub is horrible and the user interface is one of the worst I have ever seen - it's more colourful than a rainbow and looks like it's been ripped out of a game from the mid 2000's. Key information is not presented clearly or where you can see it mid-combat. The menus are not intuitive in the slightest and a lot of the story is played out through text logs which further takes away from any action. The game also has so many upgrade systems in play that it's now bordering on being an RPG. I can't believe this game has been given so much praise from the media as it's a terrible Doom game and an awful FPS in its own right.

The developers have basically tried to innovate Doom 2016 but have inadvertently just created another generic modern shooter we've seen so often in recent memory. Why the hell they couldn't have kept it as a traditional FPS is beyond me. Everything about this game feels off, flawed or just underwhelming.

    Day 4

Today was fecking hard. First day of trying to homeschool the kids, looking after the mrs, looking after the puppy and trying to work. Not happy to say, but I got a bit snappy at the kids and puppy. It's just a lot living in a few metres of each other and trying to do everything. I may well have to face facts that something (work) will have to give.

Had a great evening once we switched off from school/work. The local pub delivered me a few pints, @GazzaGarratt delivered me a few essentials as well and all was good.

Debs unfortunately went downhill a bit more tonight though and resigned herself back to the bedroom and has been coughing up until I write this and her temperature seems to have increased. We're hoping it's nothing but you cant help but worry.

Hearing the news today of petty much all service based establishments having to close has really hit me hard. This shit is very, very real now. It's very much a stark reality of how we're going to live our day to day lives for the next few months. I just hope people see sense and stop the panic buying. I'm seeing all too often posts on facebook of nurses who cant get food and new mothers who cant get nappies or formula. It's just wrong on all levels.

Once i can get out of these 4 walls, I'm going to make it a personal mission to make sure these people doing a proper service to those who need it have access to what they need. I'm just worried that in 9 days time it just might be too late.

Appreciate the games and laughs tonight on the PS4. Was thoroughly needed. And we'll all need a few more of those to get us through this period.

    Till tomorrow!!

    Day 8:

As humanity continues to descend in to a primal state of ferocity and self-serving passive aggression, the structures once known as “supermarkets” are evolving in to huge PVP arenas where combat takes place in the form of ferocious tutting and sighing, with some clan members even resorting to the strategic placement of trollies to defend their self-claimed patch of shelving, forever in the hope that another packet of Tesco Value Lasagne will be placed in front of them by the Food Gods of Tesco, enabling them to return to their tribal village, triumphant in their quest to obtain more supplies from the PVP arena.

At the doors of these arenas, the mods are struggling to hold the crowds of undead back, receiving their orders from the game master over a walking-talking device. These mods will eventually succumb to the non-stop pleas of players to allow them to enter which will unleash the tide and the structure will complete its evolution in to a survival deathmatch arena. The mod will be overthrown and will have to enter the Safe Zone behind what was once known as a cigarette counter, only for a new mod to rise up in its place. This mod will eventually dethrone the Game Master and will assemble an army who will construct a vehicle out of trollies. This vehicle will become the new GM’s combat vehicle, propelled by the undead who have committed to a life of servitude in the hope of getting a bite of the GM’s last chicken drumstick which is strategically hung from a rope made of Andrex toilet paper.

Nobody knows where this story will end. The undead are becoming more contagious, slowly losing more and more of the mask they used to cover the fact that they were nothing more than slightly evolved primates all along. The wars will continue. The food will be eaten. The arses will be wiped. But at what cost?

This is the world we live in. Be strong out there. Resist the urge to become an undead and cherish the moments you had with those who are weak of mind and gave in, for they will never get to have a bite of the GM’s chicken drumstick no matter how hard they push that trolley.

    God save us all.
