So, I feel I'm objective when I review a game for England - I also appreciate I'm extremely passionate and a half-full kinda guy, just with realism overlaid. Misconceptions of how we play spring to mind. Playing the ball backwards and sideways at the back and midfield isn't negative, they were waiting for the right moment. We always used to bang on about hoofing the ball up was crap and we never had control of the ball. This is just now the New England style and we have to get used to it, appreciates it takes time to though. Imo, we did play Plan B or 1A on how you see it. We passed and controlled the game like usual but would allow Kane and Sterling to drop deep, collect the ball in the vain it would create a gap. So many attacks last night from us came within a few seconds from the back, 3-5 passes and we were creating a chance. We never looked in trouble until the last 5ish minutes but expected as they had to chase the game. Also, playing the passing way we did, you have to appreciate we may make mistakes. I'd rather that than chase the game and hoof the ball. To my knowledge one big mistake from Kyle Walker in the whole game. Solid, great performance. They ooze confidence and patience for me. You can't beat teams 12-0 each week and as for how bad Columbia are, you can only beat whos ahead of you. I actually think the way we set up slowed their play down and we effectively made them look poor. That's testament to that structured, well drilled team. Put in to perspective - First knockout game won in 12 years. First ever World Cup Penalty shootout won. In the last 8 in the world. 9 goals scored. We are just not used to this. So whilst I'm absolutely behind them to bring it home, I'm a realist and Sweden is going to be tough - remember we haven't beat Sweden in many years too. So if we go out, it'll still be a great tournament. You can see the players absolutely play for those 3 lions on their shirt. There's no doubt about it. And playing great football. But we won't lose. I believe in them. And something I contemplated before the tournament is 90 minutes away from reality - can you ever remember saying realistically 'can you imagine England in the Semi-Finals of the World Cup?' Now I can.

Haven't got time now but wanted to say I agree and disagree with points here. Honestly, I think alot comes down to if you're a half-full or half-empty kind of guy. Didn't expect to be that many half-empty people of late though.

Disgusting. How can you respect VAR when that has not been a red card?!?! Pressure of a big game and the crowd against the referees yet again dictate a game. Come on England, we can beat 19 players tonight.

They should take massive learns from how they fixed it. Not the solution but more into the root cause of the technical reasons why it took so long. They need to build in a far better way in the infrastructure of the game so it's easier to make changes. God I hope we're not talking about another simplistic fix for 4 years!

I've clicked to say I'll be there. I need to buy Left 4 Dead 2 as i think most have that. I do have Rainbow 6 too. How many of those games are 4,5,6+ players?

It is a beta I suppose but I was like Phil and hoping for more. Has anyone seen how long it will be in beta and if updates are planned for it ahead of release?

A bit of info came out last week for Crucible and Prestige Raids. Essentially, we're on course for the permanent Quickplay option becoming 6v6 always. Supremacy being removed altogether. Minor changes to rounds and scores for some game modes. Prestige raid lairs will be dropped on the day of the update (17th July) and both at the same time. Ultimate harcore world first teams are abit annoyed but to be frank completely the right call as this is about replayability. Encounters won't change like Levaithan Prestige. It is all about Curated Loadouts where each week there will be a specific archetype to choose e.g. SMG - Sidearm - Rocket Launcher. You can change specific guns at anytime providing that they match the archetype Loadout. Every encounter will drop a Power Weapon that is available upto 400. Also, every raid gun available can now drop from any encounter in the lairs. The Prestige Leviathan will remain untouched. All in all, a neat little incentive to chase ahead of Solstice of Heroes and Forsaken. Great that now Raid Lairs will drop all raid guns. I think this will further cement why Raid Lairs are the right way to go about extending raid content.

Faction Rally and Iron Banner until the Solstice of Heroes event at the end of July. Power obtainable upto 400 too so something to start working towards ahead of Forsaken.

Gutted for Schmeichel! They played well and really nullified Croatia. They seem to be on the way to the Final to get through that game. What a weekend of games. I'm getting hyped for today and tomorrow's games, really hoping we can get through as it'll be a real acheievement to beat Columbia.

Thanks for your kind words both. Yep, it's Summer for sure. That's why I wanted to ask the question and get feedback. If I know we have a month or two before people get their heads back in the game after their summer holidays, it would be nice to have the place ready and raring to go again. Just know that I can't do it on my own. It will require help, even if it's mentioning FG when you're with new people. Superb games today! Pretty difficult to support any of the 4 teams but at least they all gave us a show. Some fantastic goals - Cavani's second was a dream of a goal. If you're a striker, those ones are the best as you role away knowing its hitting the net. I wonder if Cavani is going to be injured for the next game? Gamebreaker if so.

Yeah, the Crimson is a red herring. Its a 3-burst HC so it feels like a high fire rate Pulse Rifle that you really don't need to reload much. Beastly. What's great about Exotics now is the Masterworks. As soon as you drop one it makes you feel like you need to use it in order to get the extra stat boosts. Through that you'll start to learn which ones are more suited to your playstyle.

What's weird is, for me, this is the first time in years I've watched England and in all 3 matches I've been so relaxed when we've either had to defend or play the ball out from the back. It's ace to see they trust themselves with the ball. I think Pickford only kicked it long a few times last night. I feel quietly confident still.

Sorry but I can't have that. A bit of realism is required alongside the actual stats of the game. Stats wise we're pretty similar on possession (48:52) and shots (13:15) and others were on par. They had better chances but felt we controlled overall play without getting excited about much. The realism should be that we haven't won a knockout tournament game in 12 years. We can be positive that we have played well in 2 games and was beaten by a slightly better side in 1. For once it would be amazing to see that we are just happy to get this far and we will give it our best shot against Columbia and have a very good chance, not forgetting if we go out that we've still had a solid and great tournament. I've realised as we get older, the negativeness and criticality of ourselves just gets boring. Let the young lions just play.
