Another 1-0 as Spain edge past Iran. Very impressed with the underdogs in this tournament so far - many big teams have got rather fortunate at times with close victories and lucky goals. Thankfully Iran remain in it and could give Portugal a run for their money. Spain aren't guaranteed either.

I went back to MW3 last night on PC just to check it out - never played the MP on PC before but my first two games went rather well😎 Still got it😀

Portugal got very lucky. Morocco largely dominated the game and wasted a shitload of chances. Hope this isn't another competition where the Portuguese scrape through each game either drawing or winning by the odd-goal to win the whole bloody thing. Staggering how Morocco lost to Iran after playing the way they did today but shit finishing let them down.

MW3 is now backwards compatible on the Xbox One and joins COD 1, 2, COD 4. WAW, BO and BO2 on the platform. That just leaves MW2, please let this franchise die already, for the collection to be completed. A lot of people play the old games particularly the original Black Ops which had six-figures comfortably for a long time - it would be very interesting to see how these compare to the latest games if Activision didn't censor the player counts due to the low populations. These old games are streets ahead of COD today and that's not from a nostalgia standpoint either. MW3 wasn't the best for me but I'd happily play that over any of this generation's COD games.

Great win for Japan albeit against 10 men. Honda had a good game but it's a shame Suzuki or Ford Mondeo didn't get to play.

That was hard bloody work! Started well, scored and had other chances but then there was a real lack or urgency for a good hour after the bright start. Not sure why Ali was left on the pitch as he was clearly struggling the majority of the game. The passing was far too sloppy at times and we allowed ourselves to be bullied so easily. Ref didn't help either. Rashford and Loftus-Cheek added some spark but I was very disappointed with Lingaard throughout. Raheem Sterling and the rest of the Manchester City contingent were average - it's amazing how ordinary those players are when they aren't being carried by world class ones on the same team. Jordan Pickford had the game of his life though by only conceding one goal!

Fine performance from the Swiss - made Brazil look very ordinary. I thought it was bad when they had Andy Townsend, Jim Beglin and Robbie Earle but it's even more atrocious now!

Fuck the French. What a joke VAR was - the ref didn't award the penalty himself but then decided to review it when the ball was up the other end of the pitch half hour later and then the system only shows 2 angles which made it look like a penalty instead of the camera which shows that it clearly wasn't. Umtitties should've been sent off for that handball too and then Paul 'poor mans Drogba' Pogba goes and flukes a winner after being shit all game as usual. Lucky bastards!

That was a very low quality game in the end. Russia winning 5-0 but they still look very weak and Saudi Arabia were just god damn atrocious all over the pitch! Tomorrow's fixtures look interesting particularly Egypt v Uruguay and Portugal v Spain.
