Thats basically it. Whether they did it because they knew Activision/Blizzard was being bought is kind of irrelevant right now.
 
More backing in terms of financial and reputational support will always mean good things.
 
All you can do is base it on experience for now because stuff won't change overnight. Like La @RenFengge said, Sony DO have a good track record of letting studios do their own thing and release incredible video games.

Sony isn't EA, so I'm not exactly "worried." 
 
Then again, while I play D2, it's not a game I cherish... nor do I think there's anything really to ruin by this acquisition. We all know the general grind for D2. And, the story is like background noise if you haven't played since D1. D2 is straight loot shooter. Any RPG elements that made it unique and interesting was left in the D1 era.
 
I would be more "concerned" if Microsoft bought D2... Sony actually lets its developers go do their own things (in general) and not dictate nonsense (RPG developer - yeah, you don't do that anymore. You do loot shooter).

I'm briefly stealing my friend's thoughts on the matter posted on our chat group, but I kinda agree with this: The move feels retaliatory on the part of Sony, like they weren't really planning on this and if the Activision-Blizzard acquisition didn't happen, this would probably never happen too.
 
It feels like Bungie wasn't really set on being acquired and would still like to produce games everywhere, but when Sony pushed for their acquisition and saw Bungie's stance like this, they probably just completed the deal to primarily appease their fan base and kind of disregarded not being able to get something substantial out of the deal. Perhaps they thought they would make money out of the Xbox releases by Bungie, anyway, so it's not a total loss.
 
But being an Xbox gamer, believe it or not, I'm happy for Sony even if this pales in comparison. More competition means better things for all of us.

I'm sorry I didn't do this sooner. I am actually embarrassed to these usually (lol even on the internet hehe) but upon the encouragement and also because I feel like this is a great place, I thought I'd do this.
 
I also want to share something and I hope this is alright. There are actually two people on this account. We'll be using nicknames but don't worry, this isn't too far from our real names.
 
I am Ryan and I share the account with my younger cousin Ellen, or Ellie. Or eL. Ellen comes from the Facebook generation and we're 15 years apart. I'm trying to teach her the ropes about forum communities which is incredibly alien to her lol. Anyway, she had a run in with some bad folk on some Facebook group who asked her too many personal questions, I wouldn't detail it here. I thought she might need a breath of fresh air and since she's a gamer, she'd also fit in right here. Sorry about this weird bit and I hope we're not breaking any rules but yeah, that's about it.
 
And oh, she plays on Switch. I play on Xbox Series X. We usually swap consoles from time to time.
 
Anyway, sorry I rattled on too much about me (err us?). I just want to say that we plan to stick around and engage in conversations, as well as share our own gaming experiences.

I actually think Bungie need a kick up the arse because they've been very reliant with Destiny 2 and Microsoft could've given them that nudge and provided elite technology to assist them. However I didn't think MS would ever consider working with Bungie again but I also didn't expect them to buckle so quickly operating as both a standalone publisher and developer after breaking from Activision. I'm not even sure if Bungie are good, or ambitious enough for Sony when compared to their other in-house studios but I hope this wasn't a tactical move and Sony have spotted something they can work with going forward.
 
If they remain doing Destiny 2 expansions for the next 5 years on 15+ year old technology then it's just a waste of bloody time for everyone minus Bungie who will be living the life of luxury an in security whilst other studios push boundaries and innovate. I hope this is the start of Sony making moves like this though as there are quite a few studios out there ran by garbage publishers who are being held back no end.

So @Diddumsinspired me to do a solo hoard base. I took it a bit extreme and went ahead and built a hoard base island in a lake, with a double drawbridge to a larger island in the same lake along with another drawbridge to the main land! (This will also have a tunnel up to grade for easy traveling!). Have some punchy punches, some shotgun turrets, blade and dart traps all on my little slice of death island. La and I just did HN448 and it was...boring actually. You can go unload your colon while the turrets and traps cleaned the few zombies who gave a fuck to swim out to you.
 
There is a nice little control room with two switches, one for the blade and dart traps and one for shotguns and spotlights. We are also sporting a fully incased mechanical room with vault hatch in the blade room so all the bits are safe. As expected, all wiring is fully concealed and this bad boy is all steel, had to use all those free steel blocks from crates some how!!
 
Working in the water is peaceful with 180 seconds of air. bridge building is easy and fast. My next thought is OCEAN. I'm pretty sure I can build an "oil rig" at sea with a ladder down to a mine through the water. I'm pretty confident I can remove the water from a structure using buckets and dumping them out. Although this might be a bit tedious, an underwater ocean lair/mine sounds too god damn tempting not to have a go. 
 
All in all, a productive day off I'd say.
 
 

So there is no functionality behind this other then being able to spy on people on what there playing!? I want ps users to be able to use discord so I can stop using remote play on my pc just to talk to people it's ridiculous imo Xbox is setup is easier with pc players its like why can't we have nice things from sony

What? Maybe I'm getting this wrong but is this simply about Discord knowing what game you're playing? Not actual functionality of being able to communicate with people on Discord? If that's all it is, pointless.🙃

Anyway.. You know I'll be there to cover you! While Charlie and Carl do lots of the heavy lifting 😄 

After convincing/challenging Carl @TurboR56Mini  to make the entrance underneath the OG base, we've now made huge progress to the underground network, connecting it fully to the Big Base, Horde Base and work has started on the tunnel to the Bad Place 😄
 
We've toyed around with the lighting and came up with a snazzy Lamp Post effect, that is inside the walls. Carl has been incredible on it, and its been a pleasure working it all out with him. I've also started on the huge space of nothingness in the Big Base so we can make more of it, adding a slanted roof. However, as the Stability has been creaking, we needed to start getting rid of the remaining rock underneath the surface. This led to a bit of the existing part falling down (@crispymorgan  - your Plane Tower took a hit) but if we don't do it now, we won't be able to build anything in that area. I'll grab some pics when I can.
 
I also think La and Carl should share pics of the Bad Place as the house looks great and its a great place to chill out and mine underneath too! Penis Ball Art FTW 😎

I have these. There's just a wire that goes from the controller to the headset. The sound is excellent and I've never had any complaints about voice comms.

Sorry for reviving an old thread but I have so much love for the Arctis 3 (the cheaper version of the 7), I've been using mine for 2 years so far and the sound quality is just superb. I'm no audio enthusiast but it's a great pair of cans for Xbox gaming and Spotify sessions on the good ole mobile phone.
 
Plus really, it's super cheap. Became even cheaper now that there are better Arctis out there so if you're strapped for cash, don't disregard it completely yet.

What does that mean for our server group? (Indifferent to me, but I know everyone put in a lot of work into the bases...)

I understand that the tinned food recipes give lots more health and whatnot, but the effort to get the tins for our group is higher in the effort than making things like Hobo Stew or Meat Stew. We have ingredients for those in spades. Every time we hunt for fat, we come back with hundreds of meat, which we can sell half and keep half.. and we still have like a shit ton of meat.
 
The cooks and the farmers of the team (me, @GazzaGarratt, @tronic44) can stretch the resources better than non-farmers/non-cooks. The harvesters/hunters (like @TurboR56Mini ) always come back with so much meat and bones when hunting for fat.
 
The amount of time it takes to get the ingredients for meat stew or hobo stew is a fraction of time it takes to accumulate the same amount of tinned resources for equal amount of health in tinned food vs. non-tinned food.
 
Obviously, I will always bring back any canned food I find, but more often than not, I can make 30 meat stew for the team as opposed to like 2 tinned-recipe foods for the team.

Also, agree with @phil bottle regarding the comedy aspect. I have zero desire to watch the movie because it's not my preferred comedy style. Plus, while I enjoy thought provoking movies, I need to be in the mood for them... especially if it is not a comedy style I enjoy.
