I actually did just get done oiling something.... it wasn't a rocking chair though π Range day tomorrow with my Niece's husband.

Callin it a "prop" is absolutely ridiculous , it was a real gun, just because it is used in a movie does not take away that fact and make it a prop then. Its a real gun that is deadly in the wrong hands. Don't assume anything about America and how we are from Hollywood/TV. All of Hollyweird is filled with the most ignorant agenda driven people that are so out of touch with reality it's insane. They don't represent the average American trust me! Its not just "me" that feels that way. Its basic knowledge for any item that is dangerous. You don't pick up something that can easily kill someone unless you know how to safely use it. Common sense, that simple. We will not agree on this so no need to go any further, good conversation, but starting to go round in circles. I've said my piece which is how most people here feel about it from what I have read/seen. We'll see how it all plays out. I'm done π

Dave, you are actually making my point for me. You can not say that someone can't be responsible to know basic gun safety, if they are handling a gun. Actor or not, if you choose to pick up a gun even for a movie, then it is 100% your responsibility to properly know how to be safe with it. We are not talking about in depth knowledge of how to take apart and clean/use/reassemble etc etc. We are talking about less than 1 minute of knowing three things when you are handed a gun which even the most non-gun person in the world can find out easily. They are, check it, know your target and whats beyond it, and always assume it is loaded. Saying because he's an actor excuses him from knowing how to safely use it is not valid. No different than saying... "well I'm not responsible for killing that woman in a car crash because I have never driven before". If you choose to get behind the wheel of a car, then you have to know the basic rules of the road. Just as with any Judge when you go before him in court will tell you, saying you didn't know does not excuse the results of your dangerous action. i.e- ignorance of the law doesn't work as a defense. Again I can understand why you would feel that way, but the truth is, saying he is excused from responsibility just does not fly. He choose to use a gun for a movie, so it is his responsibility to known the most basic of safety or else he should not even use it. They are currently saying there may be multiple charges on multiple people after the investigation, and rightfully so. But most likely just like any time a high profile person has something like this happen. His part will be swept under the rug and he won't face any charges I would bet. Yet if it were you or I or any other Joe off the street, we'd be facing 5 yrs in prison for manslaughter. Also part of the different view on this may come from us being from two different countries. Here in the US we have over 400 million guns in private citizens hands, guns are almost a way of life for most people here so that basic knowledge is expected here if you touch a gun. Might not be the same over there or other places were they aren't such a big part of life.

I understand why you would say that, but as someone that is very much into firearms, I have to disagree with you. It boils down to rule #1 when you pick up a gun. Check it first yourself, never take anyone's word that it is unloaded, or in his case, that it has blanks in it. Would have taken him less than 20 seconds to open the cylinder and make sure with his own eyes that it was loaded with blanks and not live ammo and she would still be alive. With that said, yes, I agree there needs to be charges on other people as well after Alec. The fact that they are saying there was live ammo on set is just mind boggling. There should under no circumstances be live rounds anywhere on the set of any movie. That's an accident just waiting to happen. Sounds like you could not swing a stick on that film set without hitting a negligent person lol Don't ya love how they call them an armorer Tommy lol. Did you see the pic of this "Armorer"? She's some 24yr girl that I guess caused issues on a Nice Cage film set as well when she was firing guns without warning. I'd like to know exactly what qualifications it takes to be an amorer out in Hollyweird...not much from the looks of it.

Okay, well lol... I didn't want to post/reply to this again till I heard more about this, now I am gonna. I have heard a lot about this over the past couple days, here's my take on it. First off, I like Alec as and actor, but hate him as a person. His politics are 180 from mine, and he's done stuff in his past that is just wrong imo, but with that said.... From what I read, he's blaming the prop guy for handing him a "hot gun". He says he did not know it was loaded, he thought it was a prop gun. As a very active 2nd amendment / gun enthusiast/owner. Let me say a few things about that. First off, Hollywood people love to blame the gun, not the person pulling the trigger, that's BS. Why do I blame Alec? Here's why. He is trying to hide behind "someone handed me a hot gun"...well, first off, hot/cold gun is a Hollywood term, not a real term amongst firearm owners like myself, secondly, and this is the biggest thing. When someone hands you a firearm, you "CLEAR IT" no matter who/where you are. That's rule #1 as a responsible gun owner/user. I've owned guns for over 30 yrs, yet just like this year when I bought a new Glock 48 and another handgun, I went to the shop, I know guns in the case aren't loaded to start with, and I also watched the guy behind the counter check to make sure it was not loaded before he handed it to me. Yet what did I do when he handed it to me? I cleared it, i.e- I dropped the mag to make sure no ammo was in it, and I racked the slide back to make sure there was nothing in the chamber. That's just good gun owner ship 101 IMO. That's what I learned even before I took my CPL class. That's the most basic of gun ownership. 10 seconds of responsible gun ownership could have saved that woman's life on that movie set. That's all I will say about that. We'll see how this all plays out for Alec. I honestly don't feel he meant for it to happen. but was just such a lack of basic gun saftey imo.

There actually are some that do that, that was why I included fake guns in a previous post. I can't remember what movie it was, but not that long ago I was watching one of those "how its made/behind the scenes" typs shows and they were using fake guns that were non functioning, then they used special effects in post production to add the muzzle flash and sound. Damnit now it's gonna drive me nuts tryin to think of what movie that was π I remember it was a pretty popular recent movie too but can't recall what one right now.

I think so. I have seen a guy in the past that has done some very realistic diorama type scenes like old gas stations and junkyards withe cars like that. Probably the same guy I bet. His stuff is really nicely done.

Yup prop guns that fire blanks blanks are basically just a brass shell with some powder but no projectile in a real gun in most cases. Which can still be dangerous at close range even if there is nothing stuck in the barrel. I remember back in the 80's that one actor, damn what was his name, Eric something I think? He jokingly put the gun with a blank to his head and pulled the trigger and died. This case with Alec Baldwin is just weird imo though. Because not only was the one person killed, but a 2nd person was injured as well. So begs the question of how could he have shot two people with a gun that was firing blanks. Also odd is that the movie is an 1800's western, so you know with that theme it had to be a revolver (most likely single action) so he had to have cocked & pulled the trigger twice most likely to hit two people. The whole thing just seems weird to me and will be interesting to find out what actually happened there.

After finishing up my giant 1/5 scale monster truck build back in the spring I had told myself that was going to be the last project/build for a very very long time. Guess that idea lasted all of maybe 6 months  I really couldn't help it though. I have been wanting a set of Freestyle Rc axles for numerous years now, but they are so popular with guys in the Rc MT scene because they are so durable that there's actually a wait list dozens of people long at almost any given time. So when these popped up on a FB rc group last week I jumped on them. So starting to collect parts for this project now. Just got the axles and also picked up a set of Imex Pullers tires which I have always wanted to use on a build. Also ordered an RJ Speed 50's Sportsman body for it which looks a lot like a 55 Chevy. Plans are to build another tube chassis out of steel tubing and probably run a Castle brushless system. Will post pics of the build as it progresses.

Saw this last night and a couple things immediately came to mind. I guess it was the director that was shot?....which begs the question, why was he pointing a gun (prop or not) at someone that was not even in the film acting? Sounds like maybe he was playing around with the prop gun perhaps? And secondly, do any of these people in Hollywood ever get any sort of safety training in firearms at all?? Having had firearms/CPL classes myself I can tell you that the very first two things they instill into your head is #1 trigger discipline and #2 Never point a gun (real/fake/prop or not) at anything you are not ready to destroy.

Watched a movie last night called C.H.U.D which is actually a pretty old movie from 1984. It's about homeless people living in the sewers under NYC that turn into monsters due to toxic waste stored under the city. The funny thing is I remember when I was 12/13 yrs old seeing the previews for it and not wanting to see it because it looked pretty creepy. Now finally watching it as an adult, it was somewhat laughable because of how campy it was π
-
Yup, but I think you mean Joel Kinnaman. There is an actor named Joel McKinnon, but he's that more middle aged heavy set guy with the flat top hair. Yeah it really could have been a pretty good movie if the writing & directing were better.

Watched a movie last night from 2011 called the Darkest Hour starring Emile Hirsch. Was about aliens attacking earth. I am a fan of the whole war against aliens type movie, so I really wanted to like this one, but it was just "iffy" at best. Had the feeling of one of those low budget syfy ch movies imo, acting was pretty lame as well. Which I didn't expect to be bad because I really liked Emile in the movie "Into the Wild" that was one of my fav films.

I will have to start reading up on the new Battlefield and watching some vids of it. I actually have not even looked at it yet at all. I only had one Battlefield game some years ago, can't remember if it was the first or 2nd one, but I didn't care a lot for it at the time. Will have to start looking into the new one and see how it looks to me. One thing I really hate about the way COD games are now is the way they do the campaign. I know most guys buy it for the online play, and while I do play online, my real enjoyment from COD games is mostly the campaign. But the last one or two with the way they break the campaign into basically totally different multiple goals and different characters, I just hate that. Doesn't feel like a real campaign to me like the old MW type ones were which I really enjoyed. If they would go back to the normal campaign where you played as one character with a set goal that lasted 6hrs or so, then I would be much more apt to buy the new COD game.
-
Yup that's the one.
-
I'm still tryin to decide if I am going to buy this one or not. Seems the last few COD games I have bought I end up playing for a couple months and then just forget about. I feel like the quality of gameplay has deteriorated with the last few releases, and a lot of the reviews I'm reading here & elsewhere just don't seem to be all that favorable. Plus prices keep going up on games. Not sure if I want to drop $60 on it yet or wait till it's been out for a while.

Watched one last night with Dave Bautista called Final Score. I've never really seen much else that Bautista has been in other than Guardians of the galaxy. His acting is a bit flat at times but he's not all that bad in this. Definitely not an award winning film but pretty decent action flick if you get the time.

About 2 weeks ago I said I watched the worst Bigfoot movie I think I have ever seen, well after last night, I can now say the one 2 weeks ago was only the 2nd worst Bigfoot movie I have ever seen π I watched one last night at about 2am on Prime called Primal Rage....good God that was absolutely excruciatingly painful to sit through π€’ I think a 10 yr old must have been the writer for that one. There were multiple Bigfoots literally shooting bows&arrows killing people, using axes and had shields for armor. Then there was this whole scene with some witch that lived out in the woods, and I think the costume dept for that film got the witches mask at a dollar store. Was bad....very very bad. If anyone remembers Mystery Science Theater 3000, this would have been a perfect movie for them to view during that show π

I am thinking about going to see it soon. I think it just finally opened up here today. If I do, I'll wait a week or so. I'm a huge Bond fan, but I heard it's almost 3hrs long......UHG, that's not just long, that's Dances With Wolves long! lol. No movie needs to be 3hrs IMO π¬

I LOVE that dude!!! I'm actually only subscribed to about a dozen people on youtube, but he is one of them. I check to see if he has new vids every night. His videos are just flat out hilarious, and he's also right on point with his critic of movies as well, I agree with prob 99.9% of what he says about movies. No matter how many times he splices in Jonah Jameson's "You serious?" into his vids, it still cracks me up π That and his well timed comments about "Tatiana" lol.

El Camino as in the follow up to Breaking Bad? If so I liked that one as well. I was a HUGE Breaking Bad fan so obviously no way I could not like El Camino lol. I watched it right after it came out and was a "tad" disappointed there wasn't a bit more suspense/action in it like every episode of Breaking Bad had, but overall I thought it was pretty good. The scene of Walt & Jessie walking down the hallway together again in it was worth the watch right there alone π I watched a movie the other night called The Outpost. Was a true story about a base in Afghanistan that was located in a valley surrounded by hills in basically a big bowl where the enemy had the high ground and they were constantly under attack. Only had one or two actor I recognized, but it was a pretty damn good war flick. I'm a bit surprised it wasn't more well known because I had never heard of that one before.

Figured I'd post this here rather than start a new topic. I FINALLY got this car out for its first ever run today. Have owned it for a few months now but just between my custom rod business being so busy this year, and many other projects I've been working on, I had not got around to charging the packs and taking this one out yet. So finally took a break this evening and got it out. It's what I would call Stupid Fast π¬ Way too fast for the parking lot I took it too. With the current gearing it'll hit 70mph, but I couldn't get it up over probably 50mph tonight because I would run out of room so fast. So gonna tryin find a larger lot to take it to next time. It's definitely a blast to run that's for sure.

Watched another Big foot movie on Prime last night. This one was called "Bigfoot :The conspiracy"...it was absolute trashπ Seemed like one of those low budget movies you'd find on Scfi ch on a Saturday afternoon. Acting was terrible, and story was weak as hell. Don't waste your time if you happen to come across it.

I'd say about 6 hrs total. A lot of that was just laying down the base coat of white, then base coat of the flesh tones. I did the base coats by brush which always takes longer, then the fading and detail work with airbrush which goes a lot faster.

Been so busy with my custom rod business working 10hrs in the shop per day I haven't had much time to do anything else. So finally set a side a few hours for myself this afternoon and got around to painting "Dobby" from Harry Potter that I printed last month. He's about 19" tall. Should look right at home in the theater room.
