I didn’t think of it, it’s a design that has been around in minecraft for a long time. I believe it does work for pigs and sheep too but cows are useful to get the leather to make books for the enchanting tables. I was messing around in creative and designed a way to auto kill and cook the steaks too so will add that at some point. As we have the chicken farm already I think I’ll rebuild the kelp farm first. I’d like to build an iron farm too but I hate transporting villagers long distances.

The technical side of minecraft is far more interest to me than the mining or building. So I’ve watched lots of videos on things and spend quite a but of time in creative getting redstone circuity to work. As for how quick, I did it all in survival but not that quick. I think I already have 12 or so hours play time on this server 😮

There is the chicken farm by my house which you can take from. I also have a cow farm too by the nether portal but you would need to breed them first. Flick the lever and the cows will bob in the water breed them and flick the lever to stop them bobbing. All the babies will fall underneath and you can go down the ladder under the trapdoor.

The down one works by the water at the bottom stopping your fall. You just need to dig a hole all the way down, place a sign and a bucket of water above the sign. The sign stops the water running out and the water breaks your fall. The up elevator takes a bit more work, dig a seperate hole all the way down again. Place signs on the wall to stop the water running out. If you don’t have blocks around you can use fence gates too. Then place a bucket of water at the top block of the hole so it runs all the way down. You’ll then need to grab some kelp from the kelp farm, place it at the bottom of the solid water column and place kelp every block up the water column. This will turn the running water in to water source blocks. Then go back to the bottom and destroy the bottom of the kelp and it will break the column of kelp. Finally, mine the block at the floor level of the solid water colum and replace it with soul sand. This will create a bubble column which shoots you up quickly.

Try the one behind my house by the kelp farm. Drop down the hole in the ground and walk in to the water column to get back the surface much easier than stairs.

At level 20, dunno whose that is as mine is around 12. Though I’m all for sharing a mine as there is only a few of us ever going to be on. If you want to dig a water elevator for your mine though feel free to take the soul sand from my house

Gave it a few more laps this afternoon, got my time down to a 2:16.441. Though all my best sectors together make a 2:15.6 so I doubt I'll ever get such a perfect lap but maybe high 15's is possible.

Nice time Phil, is that still with automatic gears or have you switched to manual? I guess I know what I’ll be playing today as it would be a shame it someone were to beat your time

So with the help of Alex, there is now an enchanting house. It has all the nexessary book shelves for level 30 enchants and I’ve dropped a stack of lapis in there too. I’ll add an anvil later but don’t have anywhere near enough iron for that yet. I finally found some soul sand in the nether as well as a nether fortress. So I built the water elevator to the mine I dug. If you want to use it, it is behind my house by the kelp farm. Drop down the hole to get to the mine and walk in to the water column to get back out I did a bit more mining and have some more resources so I’ll probably rebuild the kelp farm next. It’s producing but not fast enough if we all want to smelt with kelp.

If you harvest the kelp, smelt in a furance and craft it in to dried kelp blocks it can be used for fuel. Where it gets good is coal smelts 8 items, a kelp block smelts 20. So 8 coal smelt 64 kelp for 7 kelp blocks. Those 7 blocks smelt 140 kelp to make 15 kelp blocks. 15 blocks smelts 300 kelp which makes 33 blocks. So basicaly free fuel The farm is slow at the moment as it’s only based on 30 kelp plants. More mining for resources the redstone could be compacted and I think you could probably get 90 kelp maybe more in the same size build.

You don’t want to try manual gears, Automatic gears are faster ...... honest ..... would this face lie to you? I think a low 2:18 is possible, maybe even a 2:17 on a perfrct lap but I’m someways off of that. Edit: For Lee, I’ve done a high 2:18. I think 2:18.7 but need to check to confirm.

Nice one Lee, glad you got yourself a gr.3 car. That is a pretty decent time too for your first few laps. I’m wondering if I need to do a few more laps and set a faster time.

As Plumber said that’s a Nether portal and I suppose the nether is sort of a minecraft hell. It isn’t too bad to be in, you just need to watch out for all the lava and huge holes. Though if anyone goes exploring in the nether and finds any soul sand can you grab me a block. I did some more mining yesterday and found my first diamonds I only did a little mining as spent most of my time building a kelp farm. It’s only small farm for now and due to not having enough redstone it’s bigger than it needs to be. However it gets us going and I’ll rebuild it when I have more resources.

Yup, it wouldn’t be so bad if you could sell them for credits. Even if not full value but some value. Oh well, I’ll kick your assess in whatever car I’m driving

I only have the Jag as I bought it so I could make the Silk Cut paint job. I don’t play it every day but do play it reasonably often. I just seem to get a lot of duplicates, I think I’m up to 4 or 5 of some cars

Giving away all your secrets Phil I’ve been using the Jag F type simply as it is the only gr.3 car I have. I did a few laps (think 7 or 8 ) yesterday and set what I think is a respectable time. Though I know I cocked up the last corner on my fastest lap and lost 3 or 4 tenths to the finish line. So a faster time is definitely possible

All seems good from playing a few hours last night. I got a basic beginner house built, a mine down to diamond level but really only dug down and not done any real mining yet. I also built a small automatic chicken cooker if people need any food. It doesn’t produce that fast but it should always be running while one of us is around loading the chunk. Next thing I want to add it a water drop and elevator for the mine to make it easier to get up and down.

Sounds good to me, I logged on to check it works the other day. I’ll try to get on in the next few days to give it a proper go. Probably when I rage quit from the other server by being killed by a guardian for the 472nd time 😡 Also, are we planning any sort of community build / area or just going our own seperate ways.

As a general rule to go the quickest you want to turn off or down as many aids as possible while still be able to keep it on track. From memory I have ABS on, TC at level 1 and manual gears.

Username is Greboth same as here I do play quite a bit of MC, It’s just I started on a new server a week ago so still grinding .... I mean mining all the resources I need for my build on that server and unlike our resident Plumber, digging big holes isn’t really my thing I’ll still hop on though, I’ll just be in no rush to get my diamond gear or start a big build. As you said you haven’t played in a while, for your new house press F3 and in the top left you’ll see your co-ordinares so you’ll never be lost again. Edit: F3 + G is also useful as it turns on tool tips (or something like that) which shows the durability of your tools. So you know when they are going to break.
