Bluebear got a reaction from JBR-Kiwi in FG League - Season 3
Really good race last night! Like I said during the race, I was surprised just how far I could take that 86 on the softs, going well past the halfway lap count and it still being fine. I was in two minds about attempting to go the full hog on one set but with it really starting to push out on some corners, decided against it. I don't think i would have caught back up to @GazzaGarratt and @phil bottle otherwise. Thankfully, I didn't need to take on extra fuel at all, despite hammering the redline like it owed me money, so the pitstop was as short as it could be.

Still flummoxed as to how you two were getting so many penalties because I was absolutely caning it through those fast esses and properly chancing it some laps (especially when I had worn tyres) and never got anything. I wonder if it was something to do with proximity to other competitors ('Is this player trying to gain an advantage on the other' kinda thing)

And of course, Kiwi being Kiwi, I don't think I saw him at all in the entire race 😂

Two good races again last night and I think we had 10 in the end for the first race, so cheers all.
Two more 4th place finishes for me, although @Lurch  was very unlucky at Tokyo and would have been 4th but for his penalty. James, for someone who doesn't practice you are very quick. Please keep not practising 🤗
@Mikepjbell  made me go weak at the knees at the top of Mount Panorama, i never recovered 😆
@slamminbones  and @crispymorgan  seemed less vocal in their indignation with the car, track, themselves than usual, a good sign I think😁
@jordie1892  managed good pace seeing as he got his practice in qualifying 😬
Constantly impressed with what @JBR-Kiwi  is able to do with the Beetle and @Bluebear  too considering he doesn't know some tracks.
Standard of driving overall is definitely improving and races getting closer but @Greboth and Kiwi are still a class apart.

Special shout to @LordBaguette  who managed 1.3 races, hats off sir😅

Weapon changes are something that definitely need to be studied; after having much success with 2x ballistic gatlings and a distortion repeater on my 300i doing bounties, those same gatlings now only have 265 rounds each rather than the 4000 I was used to. I think I'm gonna outfit it with a full brace of laser repeaters and see how I get on!

I also need to study up on power management, as the power triangle now directly affects weapon performance (especially when using energy weapons).

Yep, 3.14 dropped yesterday evening and I played for a bit after midnight. Saw @Bluebear  was already on it 🙂

I spawned in the new area, Orison, and I have to say, watching videos of it do not do it justice. It is truly impressive.

I was only getting about 25fps but it was smooth with no hitches or lag spikes so I was pleasantly surprised.

If anyone fancies jumping on let me know in the WhatsApp, otherwise I'll set up a calendar event for next week!

Watched Nightcrawler last week, as it's come to Netflix.

Really good film, fantastic acting from Jake Gyllenhaal. Gets really dark but I don't want to say much! Definitely worth a watch if you like noir thrillers.

As the title says, shall we have a night in the 'Verse at some point? Especially with 3.14 looming and the arrival of Orison and the Crusader rework.

Absolutely give it a go again. The constant tension in it is immense, and I say that not as a fan of horror or scary stuff in general.

Picked it up in the sale, and forgot just how much I missed it; I had a disc copy years and years ago but for ease I bought the full series on steam for pennies in the sale.

Me and a mate were discussing the AI, and we reckon it's due to games no longer being 'corridor' shooters or having non-static or open worlds. It's a lot easier to implement flanking behavior when the world's layout is 'baked in'. It's still absolutely fantastic to see in action, and as @J4MES OX4D mentioned, I've found myself caught out more than once already.

The sound design of the first game especially is still unmatched. Even the SMG feels meaty as hell. Not to mention the sounds for ambience (that disonnant tone and radio static 'marker' sound before/during spooky things STILL gets to me like nothing else).

I can barely make out how they sound anyway, the sides/distance callouts make far more sense for me when I've been shooting them.

I'm happy sticking with 'near, far, wherever you are'

I think we've officially gotten far enough into the game where exploration is a lot for one person... while I also like to do some other random things!

    Notes:
2 new portals: 1 at @Tar-Eruntalion 's Base; 1 at the place I call Despair If you go to the Portal of Despair, you will probably find a bunch of random stuff everywhere... as I went with the boat, but also did not have space to pick up everything from defending myself. Enjoy the treasure? Next Boss is Bone Mass, and it is south in a Swamp Biome. My focus on the next times I'm in the game will be major exploring, and less "housekeeping" (e.g., feeding pigs, farming, refilling torches)

Bluebear got a reaction from phil bottle in Deep Rock Galactic
There's a special magic when you're deep in a cave system, and your flares finally die down. Just you, a gunner, and your buddy, an engineer, frantically finishing off some pipes going to a pump. The blackness is lit only by the red glare of the searchlights on your engineer's sentry guns, swinging over the empty tunnel ahead. Nothing. Then a noise, and the searchlight swings back, revealing a horde of alien bugs crawling on the walls and ceiling towards the two hapless dwarves in their territory.

"Rock and stone", you mutter under your breath as your minigun starts to spool up.

    --------

Deep Rock Galactic is a team based shooter/survival game featuring dwarves in space. A game where you go America on alien biomes to pump out a load of liquid ore. A game where everyone frantically tries runs rings around a massive beastly boss that is very angry at you. A game where you can drink beer and dance during downtime in between missions. A game where, sometimes, you might just have to leave people behind to the alien hordes.

I picked this up last week and quite honestly, I did not expect to like it (or play it) as much as I have. It's a fantastically well done game, from the ambiance of pooting a flare through a massive cavern to reveal aliens and/or minerals in the moving pool of light, to the synergy between classes and their abillities but yet still balanced enough that you could go ham with a team full of gunners and still get the job done.

There are four classes in Deep Rock; Gunner, Engineer, Scout and Digger. There's miniguns, flamethrowers, slow time grenades, zipline launchers, platform launchers, sticky flares, and tons more. Certain classes and equipment can complement others, such as the Engineer with the platform launcher and the Gunner with the zipline launcher if there was a huge chasm to traverse.

There's perks to unlock to use across your classes, equipment to unlock specific to classes, clothes and beards (literally) to unlock; plenty to keep you going!

    Also the beards have physics.

Can confirm that the game is a lot more stable. Still destroys my i5 from 2012 like (pinned at 100% usage), but at least the game isn't crashing every 15 mins!
