The problem I see is where Sonic ended up. Nostalgia wise he is super close to Mario in those regards as I've always found Mario games to be easier than Sonic but the games past Sonic & Knuckles, actually Sonic 3D Blast I enjoyed; have been heaping piles of garbage while Mario continues to print money on solid titles. (not a fan of the latest paper mario) I vote Mario.

Ocarina of Time and Link to The past were the best two. I also really loved Twilight Princess and Windwaker HD.
