Stole this story from elsewhere but it seems to be a fairly well known one and crops up on Reddit every time the Blackbird gets mentioned.
For those of you who don't know, the SR-71 Blackbird is the daddy. It was the fastest, quietest, highets flying aircraft in its time and was used mainly for spy missions and reconnaissance. They said that if you'd flown a Blackbird, you'd hit the top and there was no higher for a pilot.
When a missile was detected, all these pilots had to do was open up the taps - there was literally not a single missile which could catch it.
