  1. on the one hand we had a pandemic and inflation with another economic crisis looming on the horizon, add the whole scalping/chip shortage thing and things have slowed to a crawl as for content most triple A games have become too samey nowadays, all are cookie cutter and all target the lowest common denominator, i am not saying that good games don't come out anymore but gameplay in general has hit a ceiling since the ps3 era, the only thing that changes is graphics

@Luseth the Xbox store page mentions 'Xbox cross-platform co-op' so I assume you'd be fine to play it with the Xbox? We'd have to try it and see

  3. Something I have thought for a while, I appreciate the pandemic came in at the wrong time but there has been so little true next gen content so far. On the PS5 I can name 1 or 2 next gen games I have played, Xbox has had nothing really truly next gen and it's all feeling a little flat. Have we plateaued for the time being as far as gaming content goes? Almost everything that has been released the couple of years could have been done on the previous consoles with the exception of true ray tracing and the rift warping in ratchet and clank. That's not to say there are not good or great games coming out but there has been little to no innovation. Even looking at Forspoken, as glorious as it looks I am struggling to see it as anything more than a half step forwards at the moment (I hope it proves me wrong). So how do you guy's feel about this latest generation, do you feel you are getting your money's worth out of your latest gadgets or are you in the same boat as me?

  4. Just making sure we have this captured somewhere as it'll be their next title in the series after Mirage. Clearly going to Japan, as a potential Shinobi - something I don't believe they have done before so seems like a great idea if you ask me. When they did Pirates in Black Flag, it really worked due to the completely work away from the usual pattern of stealthy medievel people you played. Similar to Origins in Egypt but I haven't played that one, just heard good things from FGers. Not much more detail I can find just yet, or even a date when its likely to hit us.

I'll play either one gentlemen, although I'd say you'd find Ready or Not less stressful. Tarkov is a bastard 😜

  6. I used to enjoy the series but after playing Ghost of Tsushima I found it difficult to go back to Valhalla (it was an incredibly different paced game). I don't know where I read it but I think I read somewhere that they plan to return to their roots a little and move away from the rpgness of the modern games (which I thought was a good move personally). So I imagine this AC could be a fair bit different to the last couple of games.

If it doesn't it's not an issue as I can install on the laptop just find it harder to game on there with young uns so I would be on less often ^_^ I will get installed on both anyway 🙂

  8. His link-up play and pace is proving a huge threat and he always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He's shredding the Prem even harder than Germany so far which is pretty crazy! Be interesting to see if he can maintain this level along with City as a whole. Also hope England can get the best out of Foden for the World Cup.

  10. Console gaming has gone backwards in some respects with the spate of broken games being released and focus on redoing old games. There's plenty of innovation in the PC world. It's just very expensive and there are less independent games companies these days. Take a look at Star Citizen, plenty of innovation but it's had to raise half a billion to do so.

  11. I've probably used my Playstation 5 three times in the last 6 months and two of those occasions was to do a system update and play a beta for a couple of hours. The most action it's seen is when I played Bloodborne on it back in August of last year. Anyone that's paid a scalper or dedicated days of their lives trying to buy one of these really needs their heads tested because there really isn't many reasons to own one at this time especially with many new games just being old gen titles anyway. I think it will take until 2025 before we really begin to see proper next gen titles but by then, I'll probably be too fed up to care about it. The PS4 did also get off to a slow start and the Xbox One was a pile of shite to start with but it amazes me how every generation transition, we seem to take steps back rather than build upon. Even these so-called next gen games don't really do anything new and that's because they are being held back by a lack of creativity and vision. Companies like Ubisoft will never make a masterpiece because they will forever play it safe and publishers like that only care about the bottom line and not pushing the industry forward. Sony have also made a complete shitshow of themselves with their lack of foresight in the PS+ service and whilst Microsoft start throwing money around to capture any game possible for their pass, they really aren't doing much to grow in-house studios. Google have probably set back streaming and caused incredible alienation because of their inability to captilatise on the hardware and service they created also. With Unreal 5 being widely accessible and impressing, hopefully some innovating devs will do something with that but for the next two years at least, it's more old gen titles and the same old shite. Fingers crossed for Forspoken and Harry Potter but even these could turn into generic flops.

  12. I love how Ubisoft are so shit and out of ideas they have to name about 7 games of the same series just to make up for all the ones they've cancelled🤣 They'll probably announced the next 3 Far Cry games in December at this rate! The way I see Ubisoft; if you're going to play it safe with your usual gameplay template and recycling of old shit, I wont buy your games. 10 years ago, they showed so much ambition with Watch Dogs, The Division and The Crew and now they are just farming out the same old tried and tested games whilst what's left of their original line-up is canned entirely.

  16. So I do have one small gripe but it could be game related. I wanted to push the deck a bit further yesterday and opted to try GTA V, where this fell down is I did not want to buy it again and I have a free copy on Epic that I got ages back. So looking about online, you can install Epic / GOG games onto the deck using a third party launcher, got that all installed and set up and then set GTA V to download and install. Where it irked me is that it took the whole night to download and install, in fact the install only completed as I left for work this morning so I never even got to try it 😄 Now I am not sure if it's down to the speed of the SD card but it took far too long and I fear for the loading times off it! I have also realised 256gb SD card is nowhere near going to be enough so I am going to look at getting a 1TB card some point the next couple of months when I have some spare cash.

Woah where was my invite 😛 I love the premise of this but no one I know is really into these games so I would love to jump on with a few of you. Is it cross play i.e. Can I join on my XBOX or do I need to get the laptop out?

Nice to see so much interest on this! As I believe you play the story progression on whoever is the main party leader, theres chances we can have multiple games going at once which i'm cool with. Its defo a weekend game for me - I'll try and set a few sessions up and lets go from there! Happy to try crossplay too if that helps anyone 🙂

i have been following this game's developments for more than a year and the dev has done some seriously impressive work and his attention to detail is awesome, another good thing is that the dev has listened and implemented some very good suggestions without going full star citizen and promising the stars, i really look forward to the whole thing

    Steam Deck Announced

I put the £5 deposit down at the end of August thinking I could make my mind up nearer the time, turned out it was much nearer than I thought it would be. Got the notification last week and decided to purchase it (only the basic model) and it turned up on Saturday. Picked myself up a £22 256gb SD card and I'm away pc gaming for under £400. I let my gaming computer go about 6 months ago and I have a laptop that's fairly capable but I find it difficult to game on as my daughter wants to mess. So the steam deck seemed a good shout. My first impressions are really really good, it's incredibly capable, runs well and isn't too difficult to get to grips with in terms of how things function and that. I have played just 1 game so far, GTA IV and that played really well. Simple enough to get installed and up and running and now I spend an hour or so in bed of an evening shooting up Liberty City? I have also put a couple of my PS2 games on there, I have had Shadow hearts ready to play for a long time but finding time to sit down with the CRT at my desk is difficult (again because of the little ones) so thought I would add it to the deck and see how it performs so I will let you know on that front if I get round to it. I have a fairly sizeable steam library backlog to play though and I do genuinely feel like it will get enjoyed now. The screen's decent, the device is fairly snappy and simple and though it's only my first game to play GTA IV help up really well and played incredibly smoothly so I can see this potentially taking pole position when it comes to my gaming time in the not so distant future.

  30. And Haaland, for the record, is a joke. Yes, he scores tap ins and easy goals. But thats it - he makes them look incredibly easy. Plus he seems to be partially in a mold like the old strikers as he can handle far more direct football than all the tikki-takka football....although he can live with that too it seems so far. Nice to see a striker in our league that may also be breaking 30+ goals like we used to get back in the 90s.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2021-12-23-swat-game-loses-publisher-following-school-shooting-comments So Team 17 were happy to publish the shooter but because it now contains a school level, that is the reason they've pulled out!? Oh well, that's their loss as this game is absolutely thriving whilst they are virtue signalling😅

Yeah it's been in development for ages. You can access it before launch by buying the super duper version but yeah that's not happening. Still will keep an eye as its getting decent feedback and there's a Drewski video where he plays it with AI team mates that shows it off quite well.

Keep forgetting this game exists - feels like it's been around for years and still isn't out yet. I've never been too keen on the name just like that other game called Nine to Five but I hope it develops into a recognised tactical shooter that's of some quality.
