Might hold off uninstalling this a bit longer

Not that I'm not overly excited about this, but I think after everything we have went through, we actually deserve this! Side note: I will be addicted once again when they drop shipment. I'm so stoked!

Hey everyone, So, introduce myself.... Well my name is Tom, I've been gaming since dial-up (that makes me feel old! i'm talking 28.8k and when someone phoned the house the internet turned off!) Started by playing mmorpg's like Legends of Mir, Myth of Soma, Darkeden (2d games haha) and that's when I found my first ever forums, called Leetnetwork. The best bunch of assholes I've ever met lol and coming back to PC gaming I found there's not many community forums out there. "Back in my day" lol forums were the main way of meeting other gamers then adding them on msn messenger :P as a community we helped each other, I learnt Photoshop through them, owned and hosted servers etc. I found that's what I missed the most, I'll be honest I missed out on Twitch, Discord, Mixer and all that stuff so I'm a tiny bit lost! I've been playing on xbox one for a while now and haven't had a gaming PC for over 10 years, so decided to treat myself in the black Friday sales! Built my new PC last night :D Sadly I only have 1 other "PC Friend" lol so i'm hoping to meet some new ones here! Games i'm hoping to play are, Modern Warfare, WoW Classic, Battlefield series, Arma, Escape Takerov maybe a bit of minecraft :P Also love a bit of VR sim racing, iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars etc. I've been doing some research into streaming, dunno if anyone on here does it? I enjoy watching it and playing in a group looks so much more fun! I've been doing some signing up on various platforms (someone told me I could play my Xbox digital games on PC) was very annoyed when I found out I couldn't! I'm happy they're paying more attention to Spec Ops, it was the only real disappointment for me at launch. Wish they'd poll the players if they do old maps and ask us what we'd like. Kowloon and Favela for me.

A terrific game released at the wrong time

Titanfall 2 is rumoured to be one of the games for next month. If this is the case then everybody needs to download it as both the campaign and MP are utterly brilliant. *edit* Titanfall 2 has been confirmed now. Via the FG App

I'm happy they are adding some stuff, old maps or whatever. I will still be happy to play them. Crash was already a MW2 free DLC map, obviously featured in COD4 originally. And yeah shipment/vacant. I want some MW3 maps also. Bootleg, Arkaden, Underground. Hell any of them other MW3 maps tbh. They are presenting it in a "Wow" fashion. Free! Etc. Totally agree with James yet again. Still is very welcoming, would rather play some of them older maps than some of the current.

Nice 🙂 Yeah the VR is amazing. After trying Crispy's PSVR, I picked up one cheap and can use it on PC too. It isn't the best but then my PC wouldn't run the high end headsets anyway. GT3's you say, you'll fit it nicely 🙂 certainly my favourite class and Phil likes it too. Have you tried AC:C? I'm tempted to buy it but hoping it goes on sale at some point. What cars do you build? restorations? restomods? etc. I'd be interested to read more, see pictures of the cars you've built.

I’m not sure that I’d agree about the white supremacy part. Any content created by a culture for that culture is heavily focused on the same. American comics written primarily for Americans are going to sell best when featuring mostly Americans - who are mostly white. It’s like moaning that Chinese movies made for China star mostly Chinese actors - like duh! As for them being for adults not wanting to leave their childhood. Potentially accurate, I’ve seen it mentioned several times that comic book popularity correlates well to depressing and troubling times. The ‘golden age’ of comics was the great depression and WW2. It isn’t so surprising that with some of the shit going on in the world today people take solace and comfort in comic books. Though take out the ‘super’ part and the stories are basically action and thriller stories. With the Marvel movies adding a a hefty dose of comedy in there too. Or are all those genre’s also embarrassing? And finally, who TF cares? What you do in your free time is up to you. As long as it isn’t illegal....well some illegal is maybe ok but nothing too heinous... then that’s none of my or his business.

Welcome aboard! I too miss having a forum to call home. Even though this isn't the most active forum, it feels the most at home I've felt in a long time. I think you'll find that this place will be worth the stay!

So far I've downloaded Modern Warfare and WoW Classic, going back to a keyboard and mouse feels so strange! I feel like my KDR is gunna take a massive hit haha. Man I used to love Delta Force, was my first introduction to playing against hackers lol, they could lay down on the map but aim from the sky lol. I'm pretty sure i'm gunna download Dark Eden just for old times sake, I think I was the first level 100 on Dark Eden (official one, cant remember the name). I'm pretty sure I was playing Legend of Mir when 512k internet came out lol. The VR rig I go on is my boss's, it's in my workshop. Oculus CV1 with a G27 wheel and pedals. We knocked up an aluminium racing seat setup, I really can't get over how good the immersion is with the headset! I mainly race GT3 but I love all the historic racing classes, I build vintage and classic cars as a job so getting to race classics and actually be in the car is pretty neat. I'll check out the guys playing WoW and find out how I can get my activision ID for CoD. Need to get myself a headset as well.

Friend 👍 😆 Welcome to the forum, there’s not enough racers on this forum so nice to gain another one. What set up do you have for your sim racing? Any particular class you like racing? We have a GT Sport time trial generally ticking over for a bit of fun. Though PC wise I know Phil and I have Project Cars 2 so maybe we get some racing done. I don’t know if Phil has any other pc sims though I’ve also got AC, LFS and R3. I’ve got an iRacing account too but no active subscription at the moment. We also do have a Minecraft server running. Currently we have it running the Sky Factory 3 mod pack. We have a section on it further down though know I’m remembering that our server IP address changed and I don’t think I’ve ever updated the thread - oops. If you want to join though, drop me your name and I can whitelist you.

The work that goes into modding this masterpiece is quite amazing years later. It was an incredible looking game when it was released and still today, but the subtle mods really take it to a new level. If I had the time, I would do another playthrough at the drop of a hat!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome 🙂 Not tried AC:C yet but I've read that it beats PC2 in the way the cars handle and feel. I like the graphics from PC2, the force feedback from rFactor and the handling from Assetto lol. Most of my work is purely aluminium bodies for 1930's race cars usually MG's, comes in a bare chassis and goes away an un-painted car, ready for the customer to paint and trim etc. Every now and then we'll take on or do our own full build. The Maserati is a 300s actually built on a Maserati chassis, this was my boss's personal car and also my favorite lol, the polished Jaguar D type was a fun little car, although between that and the polished hot-rod I decided i'm never going to polish another car again. I spent 6 months polishing that hot-rod! Going from an 80 grit sand paper all the way to 1200 and then 3 different pastes haha. The dark grey car was a Jaguar XK150 which was built into a made up special, this was our most recent full build. The last picture is my workshop at the moment, Got a 1930's MG Q Type (full build, painted, ready to drive away) an MGA Special in the background and another 1930's MG Special to the right 🙂 All them nice cars and i'm working on a pair of rusty 1950's Alfa Zegato seats haha. There's some more pictures of the Jaguar and more of a detailed look from the dealer that bought it from us Here and a better write up and detailed shots of the Maserati (same dealer) Here This is an AC Cobra with a bespoke gulwing roof, I was just starting out when my uncle/boss was starting this one (same dealer) lol Here These 3 and the unfinished MGA Special were my uncles personal cars purely made to sell, the dealer has seen the MGA so maybe he'll have that as well haha

Both Crash and Vacant we had to pay for back in MW2 with Stimulus and Resurgence. I can't quite remember the reception back then but I think people were just happy to have new maps regardless on top of what was a hugely popular game at the time. I'm pretty tired of Vacant after playing it in COD4, MW2 and MWR plus 725's are going to be rife on there! Crash is decent but I would've preferred Afghan and Terminal along with Highrise as those have only had remakes in Infinite Warfare which barely anyone got to experience. If it's a choice between more shite new maps or proven old maps, I'd happily go with the latter though! Recycled shite was more unacceptable in Treyarch games as people had to pay for it blind.

Which might be a dig referring to the comic making business, which has been historically pretty shitty for artists and writers, at least in the UK. I don’t know if old Alan is feeling a bit sad about the state of the world and the fact that – in his eyes – adults are more likely to know the ins and out of the Marvel universe than how their own country or society works. Maybe that’s my prejudice coming in too though, as it rings true to me.

So, does he consider V for Vendetta and Watchmen ok for children to read? Not sure the rape scene in watchmen is good watching/reading for a 13 year old!

Although more maps is good I'm disappointed it's maps that we've played in god knows how many games. They have 5 games to choose from for maps (if you include Ghosts and IW) and they go for the same fucking maps again! I'd like to see some MW3 maps return. They had some decent ones in there. Ghosts had a couple of decent maps as well.

Didn't think the ranking system could get any better than Halo 2 already had. It still remains the best ever.

F1 is actually really hard to get into compared to others. Up until recently they were pretty closed off to outsiders other than simply watching the race. Social media was recently introduced and back stage camera work. This is all thanks to their new owner running the show. If you haven't watched it yet, there's a show on Netflix that dives in depth on a recent season of f1 that's a good watch. I wanna say they plan on doing it for every season and you really get to see what goes on backstage. This is part of their effort trying to get the sport out there into the modern world and to help it grow. Those are some solid shots! Goodwood is full of legendary cars new and old. One day I will absolutely make my way there at least once.

Forget every other word other than free before you type. That is a damn good update to get for absolutely nothing.

Started my first online gaming with legend of mir ( Pheonix server ) and Dark Eden also 😱. Good old dial up with the two step lag 🤣 There is a small group of us currently playing wow and I believe there is a post about it. So feel free to join in if you like.

Welcome aboard Impulse! (Or Tom if you prefer that) Sounds like you'll fit in well here. Not a PC gamer myself, at least not since the days of Counter Strike Source 😄 but there's a couple others on here who play some of the games you've mentioned. I know there's at least 5 people curretly geeking out about WoW Classic, I also think there's some people on Minecraft. Anyways, I hope you enjoy your stay and find some people to play with, we're a bit odd, but hopefully that wont bother you too much 😄

I believe each game has it's entire online component available to play. I think there are some changes/improvements to ranking systems too.

I actually think this would be awesome. Imagine them remaking the first matrix, even now (20 years after it launched) with the CGI and filming mechanics they have now.....no more old school bullet time etc. Would be amazing.

It's one of those things that if you're a fan of the genre, you may like it for decades to come just like gaming. There is no age cut-off point with things like that unlike some toys for instance or 50 year old men still playing the likes of COD. A lot of this superhero stuff is quite mature actually, plus there is an appreciation for how production quality has evolved from decade to decade. What becomes embarrassing about it is when grown adults squabble about such things but all in all, I don't think you're ever too old to keep enjoying such material. There is certainly a lot more embarrassing things in this industry right now like all these woke reboots for instance.

Voice chat works fine for me on cross platforms, make sure they're not muted.

This looks to be a very good month. I will skip Outlast 2 though as I'm terrible with jump scares. Nioh looks very good, so I might start that once I've finished Detroit Become Human.
