  1. I got to be somebody's hero today. Just a right place/right time thing but I was glad to be there to help. I kicked up a pursuit of a clown car full of robbery suspects. 5 were apprehended at the termination point, more fled. Seriously, clown car shenanigans. What I should have done is stay at the termination point and do sergeant-y stuff. What I did was snatch up my rifle and go with K9 because I'm fucking retarded and can't help myself. As we were walking over an overpass the K9 handler turned his head right and the dog jumped left...right over the barricade and into empty space. I saw the dog jump but before I could even open my mouth it as gone. Luckily the handler kept the end of the leash wrapped around his wrist. The weight of the dog jerked him up against the barricade and he was off balance. I was able to run up and grab the leash as well and help hoist the dog back up onto the overpass. I don't know if the dog would have survived the drop but the handler said even if he had he'd probably have to be retired. He offered to buy me dinner at whatever I deemed to be my favorite restaurant but I told him snag my outstanding suspects and we'd be even. Two bit bad guys later I think we're good to go. The termination point was just short of the county line and we had multiple agencies respond. I've never seen a better example of teamwork in law enforcement. Us, park rangers, two sheriff's departments, two neighboring districts, three dog handlers, and investigations all responded and took care of business. I'm pretty damned proud of the lot.

  2. OK, I've playing this for 12+ hours now and have completed one single contract. Having spent a couple of hours with Phil who has got me flying and navigating, watched a few vids and asked a few questions on the in-game chat I must say I feel more than a little frustrated about a few things..... Why is the Skyline SatNav feature so user unfriendly...what about a few helpful prompts! Why when I'm coming into land on a peaceful planet or even a bloody R&R station do I drop my ship gently to the surface only for it to be blown across the ground and turned upside down? On a planet maybe, but an R&R station...there's no bloody wind in space, there's no atmosphere!!! Why, when you're in Quantum Travel and the ship on-board computer says "Engines critical!!" is there no easy way to abort QT? A big, red button would help! Some helpful soul in the game chat told me to press 'i' to turn engines off and then typed "If you move the power balance triangle thingy so there's no power to weapons and the split is 50/50 engines and shields you can QT further and keep your engines cooler - but don't forget to put it back after" Also, there have been the occasional being kicked from the game for no reason at all - I was just using QT guv, honest! and also the occasional bout of lag when you first log into Port Orliss (?) All very frustrating but.....I love the game, I really do enjoy it! Now, if they could just sort some of the annoying crap out I'd be really happy unless @phil bottle it's a case of "Cockpit Error" then please put me on the right track

  7. 2 weeks after the big meet in taking my kids to Australia, I have a friend who lives out there in the suburbs 45 min train ride from Melbourne. We already havd a 2 day trip in Sydney planned we'll probably hit the blue mountains and the boat trip to Manley while there. There is also the great Ocean road to the 12 apostles, his brother in law's place at Harcourt which is stunning and othe friends to visit. I went a couple of years ago for the Moto GP and wanted to take the kids. Next year though hopefully could be a good one.

  11. Wasn't there a 'momentum' factor they put into the game a few years back now? I remember it years back when I dabbled in a bit of Pro Clubs. I wouldn't even be surprise if it was on games like Overwatch too....
