    What do you do?

Good luck dude!! Sounds very confusing but hope it's the one for you! Also sorry to hear about all the problems you've been having. You should be able to get feedback if you ask for it, there's nothing wrong in wanting to improve or even know why you didn't get it in the first place. As others have said, keep the good spirits up and good things will hopefully happen soon 🤞

    What do you do?

So the apprenticeship was posted a month or two ago, but as a Business and Admin qualification under the role of Customer Services, but working in the Service Desk (IT). I already have a Level 3, so didn't apply. My mate has since told me that they're re-posting the vacancy, as everyone who applied before was terrible (to put it politely). I noticed on the Indeed advertisement, it says "Work towards a Level 3 in Business and Admin OR Information Technology". However, I think this should've been removed and more of a 'delete one' as an NHS template when they post jobs, as when I apply on the NHS website it only says Business and Admin Level 3. Anyway, I have applied and in my covering letter have said on Indeed advertisement it says a choice between the two, and as I already have a Level 3 in B&A I'd love to do the IT option. Hopefully something comes of it. Worse thing that could happen would be for them to say I read the advertisement wrong and that the NHS website one is the correct one, however its worth a try. They may see someone with a L3 B&A and think it would be a good starting point for a new IT guy in their team who already has experience/qualification in B&A and Customer Service. Closing date is 19th May so we will see what happens.

    Your favourite TV

I was scrolling through some of my favourite series on IMDB and looking at the recommended series looking for something new and it got me thinking – what is everyone’s favourite series? We can share our favourite shows and maybe find something new to watch too For me, I’ll skip Game of Thrones although it is up there. Band of Brothers – A mini series following Easy company during World War 2 and a very well made, well written and directed series. I’m not one for being too bothered about war films and it is easy to be dissociative while watching the actual episodes – it’s just Hollywood, special effects, make up etc. but at the end of each episode, they have the real soldiers talking about the episode and it brings it back to it isn’t Hollywood and it really happened and it hits you hard in the feels. Billions – It focuses on 2 main characters Bobby a hedge fund manager who uses insider trading to increase profits and Chuck a District Attorney trying to prosecute him. It follows their scheming, dealing, double crossing, planning as they each try to out do each other to come out ahead. Plus Wags is brilliant so always worth watching for him. West Wing and Newsroom….basically anything by Aaron Sorkin – West Wing follow the west wing of the whitehouse and the presidency while Newsroom follows a news anchor and the broadcaster producing actual news. Both are in Sorkin’s style of fast paced, dialogue heavy, witty writing with his usual camera style too. Both extremely well written shows and ones I’ve watched through multiple times. The Marvellous Mrs Maisel – A comedy sitcom following Mrs Maisel as she aspires to be a female comedian in 1950’s New York. It didn’t appeal to me by the description but it got highly recommended to me so gave it a watch…..and ended up watching both seasons in less than a week. Currently there is only 2 seasons but there are more on the way. 4400 – One of my favourite sci-fi shows out there. Over the last 50 years or so, 4400 people disappear though only one at a time here and there. All 4,400 get returned at the same time and having not aged a day from when they disappeared. The series follows the investigation in to what happened to them and their re-integration in to society. The Expanse – Set in the nearish future where we have colonised Mars, the asteroid belt and a moon of Jupiter. Mars want independence from Earth and events unfold the lead to a potential war but there is more going on than initially meets the eye. The show follows the crew of a small ship as they try to uncover the conspiracy and stop a war happening. Counterpart – During the Cold War a crossing is discovered between this world and an alternate reality and series follows the UN organisation tasked to investigate and monitor the crossing as well as deal with people from the other side. A little bit of sci-fi and a little spy thriller and well worth a watch. Better off Ted – A short lived comedy about a project manager in an office. Anyone who does or has worked in an office will appreciate it most but still an enjoyable series. If nothing else, it’s worth watching the Veridian dynamic commercials from the show. Banshee – Fucking and fighting. There really isn’t anything else to say, a criminal assumes the identify of a small town sheriff and spends most of the time fighting or fucking. This is on my list not as well written or directed series but it is damn entertaining. Star Wars Rebels – My favourite of the Star Wars animated series. It starts off not that great and a little kid friendly but by the end it gets darker and you really find yourself attached to the characters and their path in the Star Warsuniverse. Plus it puts some nice easter eggs in the new SW films (mostly Rogue One) Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis – These get an honorary mention, as I grew up watching them. They aren’t amazing series but I still love them and can re-watch them repeatedly.

  7. Liverpool game was fucking unreal - what a performance!! Barcelona bottled it once again and Suarez got it in the arse deliberately injuring a player only to see the substitute score two goals! Coutinho got took off as a sub too after playing shit. Staggering result under the cirumstances and some truly remarkable individual performances along with the teams overall display. 4th goal was funny and very well-crafted too!

    Borderlands 3

Seems legit[emoji39] I liked the first game, primarily because of the story and characters. The second one, hmmm well the story was less engaging, and the mixture of bullet sponge and repetitive gameplay made it more of a chore to play. They also removed the equipment modding, which i personally liked. Still managed about 50 hours but that was probably because of co-op. At the very most, like Rib, I'll be waiting till it goes onto Steam. In a sale. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

Ghost Recon Wildlands had some of the best player versus player ever in a game. I'm excited to see what this is about.

    MW4

The only thing that would make me buy a COD at this stage, is if they release ALL of the old maps for it (i.e. MW2, MW3, BLOPs1 and BLOPs2), for free. So yeah, no more COD for me as it stands.

So, looks like we won't be getting a reveal/trailer until E3, so 11-13th June. One of the latest reveals in COD's history I believe.

    Ghost Recon 2?

I really enjoyed the first one, hoping this is more of the same open world game with extras. The small random missions like the Predator one were brilliant!

  22. The final piece of the puzzle was added this afternoon. Samsung 970 Evo Plus. 1TB. Have to thank @Diddumsagain. Years ago you gave me a Samsung pen that was actually a screwdriver, with magnetic parts. The M.2 screw and standoff is tiny, plus I was fitting it into a gap I could barely squeeze a flat hand into, and that screwdriver saved me a lot of bother The Samsung migration software is pretty nifty and I've made this NVMe my boot drive. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MBQPQ62/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  24. I'm not sure mate, I haven't really played my own copies. The only one I've played is Chaos Reborn, which is a board game and that's pretty good. I like the look of Moon Hunters, so I may even give that a go. I've redeemed Fortune-499 from that list as it appears I didn't own it already.

  25. It should be a legal requirement IMO that a candidate gets informed when they've be unsuccessful and why. Cannot stand ignorant companies like that especially when people go through such a tough process only to get ignored. Just keep going Dan - the average person these days has to apply for 65 jobs or something ridiculous and it can be demoralising as hell but the right opportunity will come round eventually. I've known plenty of University students who came away with flashy degrees and they struggle to get something appropriate for years. You're definitely not alone.

    What do you do?

Thanks Leigh - appreciate that buddy. I think the most frustrating thing is getting no feedback. The last 2 interviews I went for and wasn't successful I asked for feedback regarding application/interview and didn't receive a response. At least then I'd know what I can improve on. I do wonder if my age has something to do with it. They know after the first year of the apprenticeship, they'd have to then start paying me the living wage in the 2nd year. That's the only thing I can think of. I come across well in the interviews (imo), have good customer service experience which I display and explain about being the 'IT help guy' in my current department despite not actually working in IT. There's just not many IT apprenticeships out there so when one does come up, I know I have to put everything into the application and interview. Don't want to sound like a moaner, but just doesn't seem fair (I know, life's not fair...). Coupled with the fact that my current job is getting shitter (department cut from 12 people down to 5, same workload and a manager who is clueless/lazy) doesn't help the situation. I guess I feel a little like time isn't on my side either, currently saving for a house so now is the ideal time to take a pay cut, because once I get a house and a mortgage, I literally won't be able to afford to take the apprenticeship pay cut from what I'm on now. I know I just have to keep trying, but it's just getting me down every now and then.

  27. Bit of an update. Working on one of @GazzaGarratts controllers. Replaced triggers, but there is still a dodgy analog controller that is jumping a bit. I've ordered a few and we'll see how they go. Should be ok, and hopefully another controller fit and well. My middle mouse button has been a bit temperamental of late. It's a Logitech G402. Lovely mouse but annoying when you try and use the button and nothing happens in overwatch. A quick bit of googling suggests it's an Omron B3F-1000. Ordered one off the 'bay for £1.21 but they sent 2, so 60p each. nice. First thing to do is find the screws, in this case they live under the mouse skates. I've got them off, but maybe I'll order some fresh ones as they have a few kinks in, they were well glued on there. Next phase is to locate the button. Easy peasy, it's the white one under roughly where the middle mouse button is. Tear down the mouse so I can get to the solder. Using my new super duper solder sucker to remove solder. It's a pain to do so no pics. I find the best way is to add more solder, melt it and then press the button on the sucker and it hoovers up the solder (it's a spring loaded widget). Now the button is removed. Clear the holes as necessary and insert new button. Now to solder it in place. The gloopy stuff is flux that helps the solder flow. Nice simple job, no new mouse needed and fixed for £1.21. I love to fix things and it's always nice to save having to buy something so you can put the money to other stuff.

    MW4

3 lane maps are great but I'd also want a variety of maps like we had in BO, MW2, MW3, COD4, WAW etc. Favela had multiple routes, elevation and excellent long sightlines. Sub base had the same plus a lot of outer action and Afghan offered multiple ways to play and significant flanking opportunities. Now days it's start the match and go either left, right or center and maybe chuck a nade or get ready to fire straight ahead. The MW2 maps weren't forced 3 lane maps; they were just well-designed and varied. Even SnD has become a bit of a redundant mode in recent COD's because the maps just don't offer versatility. Traditional sniping has also been thrown out of the window and replaced entirely by quickscoping. I can't remember the last time we actually had a COD game with an iconic map. Nowadays they seem to be very symmetrical, either small or small-to-medium or just long and narrow. A lot of these modern COD maps are built with eSports in mind where the action is pushed into 3 lanes which diminishes different gameplay styles and brings aggressive sweaty gunplay to the fore.

    MW4

I don't think they'll ever be able to produce such an iconic game like the old MW ones again. Too much has changed in gaming from shitty business practices to how people want sweaty competitive g-fueled gameplay fought on 3 lane maps in eSport fashion despite the brand being 99% casual. I often revisit the old COD's and they just ooze so much enjoyment and varied gameplay and none of the ones from this generation can get close to. Using real weapons in real life locations with credible characters cannot be beaten. The good news is that a few key staff from Respawn have gone back to IW to specifically work on this game and hopefully they can try and capture the brilliance of past titles but the way Activision and the the way gaming has changed; I don't know if they'll ever be able match what they did a decade ago. I am dying for a proper military shooter again like a modern COD or Battlefield - hard to believe towards the end of last gen these games were saturated but I'm sick of all this futuristic fantasy bullshit now.
