But in the coming weeks and months, that will change as Sony just rolled out a CUH-2200 model. PlayStation model number changes are made for different reasons, and the digit that changes signals the importance of the change. Major hardware revisions result in the first digit changing, which is why when the PS4 SlimBest Price at Amazon was rolled out Sony moved from model CUH-1XXX to CUH-2XXX. The last two digits vary based on which region of the world a console is intended for. As DualShockers reports, when the second digit in the model number changes it signals minor hardware tweaks, which is what this looks to be. CUH-2200 models have appeared listed on the Japanese online store with a 1TB Jet Black and 500GB Jet Black version both carrying the new model number. Eventually all markets will offer the CUH-2200 as Sony ships out new stock and stops making the CUH-2100 (this may have already happened). These new consoles are unchanged in terms of power use, weight, and dimensions, which suggests that Sony has tweaked the hardware inside for some reason. Typically this is done when they figure out a way to save money and reduce manufacturing costs. Any saving, however small, can make a huge difference when you're producing tens of millions of consoles every year. Don't expect Sony to mention the move to model CUH-2200 as there's no reason for it to be talked about publicly. It's also not worth waiting for the new model to be widespread before opting to purchase a PS4. The bigger question to ask is if you should be spending a bit more for a PS4 Pro

In the Destiny 2 lore, The Scorn are Fallen who have been reanimated. The Scorn don’t just look different from traditional Fallen, they also have completely new move sets. In a new video from Game Informer, Bungie explains that the intent was to make all the different Scorn types more aggressive than anything else in the game. One of the more interesting new enemy types is the Chieftain, who each spawn a different totem that comes with a different effect. The Solar totem spits out fire all around it, blocking your path, whereas the Void totem grants shields to nearby enemies. Similar to the Chieftain, the Barons – the game’s main villains whom you’ll be hunting down in the Forsaken campaign – each bring a particular gimmick to the fight. It has always been a dumb move. I don't understand the Apple iPhone life-cycle for consoles. At this point you're spending 1,000 monies you might as well buy a PC and enjoy all of the benefits over console ownership. There are some people that keep older consoles and I believe that's the smart route, but the highest end console at the end of the cycle and enjoy all of the games you may have held off on in the past. It makes zero sense to buy these consoles every 3 to 4 years.

Have to be honest here. And Lee did give me the chance to have a say before they did anything, so no complaints there. If Moderation is going to apply, then it needs to be for ALL posts. Not just 'speakers corner' (which is kind of funny when you think about it). Which no-one would like. So, it needs to be discontinued, in my opinion. Any methodology you are going to use for this will leave you stepping on eggshells and trying to walk tightropes, tightropes laced with Vaseline. I'll go further in detail on this, if needed. I'm sorry not everyone likes what gets discussed politics-wise but that's life, we have opinions and I'm never in favour of trying to control that kind of thing. The more I watch these new consoles and the shitty life cycles, the more I am going to start treating them the same way I treat games now. Wait for it to be at the end of the life cycle, buy a greatest hits machine and call it a win. The last 3 Nintendo consoles have really burnt me out, not to mention how many shit games have I paid $60+ for, only to absolutely ignore after a week. I just don't have the time or energy anymore to spend top dollar on these things. I figure next year I will be able to pick up an Xbone for cheap, and then stock up on the titles I missed out on for the last few years. /patientgaming FTW

We are adults and we do need to understand that forums are here to capture opinions and have good healthy debates. If it was up to me, and I'll be totally honest here, I would've removed it completely some time ago. However, I know that we discussed this not long ago and there was a desire to keep the politics section over T&A. I'll always listen to the compromisable option as much as I can. That being said you can't keep everyone happy. Rob's suggestion is a good one and I'm considering going a little further as to having it a section where you 'opt-in' as an FGer. That way there is acknowledgement when you enter you know what you're going into ahead of the section. It also means it is ignored to other members, new and old, that don't want to see it or get involved. Equally, Phil's point is quite correct too. Moderation needs to be here across the entire of FG. Everywhere has this and I could go way further, including filtering out swearing, but I'm not quite there yet. This is a broader subject we'll pick up separately as Moderators need to be actively helping more on FG when this happens. We all must understand if we want this place to flourish and grow in an overall positive way, we just need some framework and guidelines. Otherwise, like anything without any structure or oversight it would fall to pieces. I'm open to hear more views. I want people to be aware at the same time please have FG's interests at heart.

Patch 9 is due shortly, so the EFT developers have produced a new promo vid. They've introduced a new leader for the Scavs, to make them even harder than they already were. This game, fucking hell. Love it. They've put the Scav leader, Snaaar I think his name is, in the vid, ugly looking bastard, doing a snazzy reload of his TT pistol.

Or maybe just hold out for the next generation of consoles, which are just around the corner. Possibly. If I needed a PS4 though, I'd definitely go for the Pro.

Not a chance I'll get this unless there is some kind of massive change in the industry. I've reached a point where I'm pretty much going to stop spending my hard earned money on triple bullshit games companies. I have plenty of games to keep me occupied for years. Other than Fallout 76 and maybe Red Dead I don't see myself supporting the madness any more. I need to save money for a new GPU and not buying games seems the bestxeay to save. Plus, I need to catch up on games I bought in sales. PS4 allows you to test the network and shows you the results. Check in network settings, it's pretty straightforward from what I remember. I used to use it if I ever switched between Wi-Fi and Ethernet. I'm always conncted to Ethernet these days as Wi-Fi is a joke when playing games like Rocket League for example. No doubt it'd be a laugh but I just can't justify paying what they want. I have no interest in Zombies or a battle royale mode so I'd be paying £50 just for MP. Plus they also then want me to pay another £40 for the season pass.

In terms of an 'issue' isn't one I don't think there is one as its a broader question - I mentioned to Phil some time ago I was thinking of removing it soon and this helps stem the conversation. Re: light touch - i can't see us changing that much tbh but at the same time you have to realise why its light touch. 1) we've built strong and positive friendships on here so we all know each others boundaries (well, most 😉), 2) we have mods but how much 'moderation' is actually done right now is extremely small. Like 0.03% of time, and 3) we just don't have the number of active posters right now. If we had more people here which I know everyone would love, you'll have more stuff to keep an eye on. We're a gaming family/community that needs more activity (well, i want it) and also want it to be a one stop for 'life' too as that's where a real family here goes further. If Reddit can do it, why can't we. P.s. for the record, i believe we can shit all over Reddit as what we stand for and what we've built is unique and simply awesome.

Sony has been pretty clockwork when it comes to a release schedule. (PS1) December 3, 1994 (PS2) March 4, 2000 (PS3) November 11, 2006 (PS4) November 15, 2013 (PS PRO) November 10, 2016 So even with the PS Pro you could view that as a halfway point of the console's life cycle. It would be a safe bet that in 2019 you will see a new system announced at least. I would doubt we see an actual release next year but who knows.

The 2200 is probably Sony's final mass production shot of the PS4 - with no aesthetic or hardware changes, it's probably their last roll-out before the PS5. Basically means if you're going out and buying a new console from major retailers, you'll get a 2018 produced console rather than perhaps a unit that was made in 2017 although there being no distinguishable difference. Microsoft usually do things differently - the 360 slim alone had Core, Pro and Elite plus the Slim and Super Slim which all had some differences even with the hardware. Only thing Sony is really missing is a PS4 Pro Slim but it's probably not viable now with the next gen closing in.

Is it possible to do a speed test on the PS4 itself? I can do it on my phone but that uses 5G connection on the wifi so would be different to the 2G connection on the PS4 I think? Another option could be homeplugs, does anyone have any experience with those? My only concern is they apparently have to plug straight into the wall rather than into a 3 or 4 way adapter which is what's around my router sockets

If you do a speed test you usually are given 3 results; up, down and ping. I think I’m right in saying ping is the amount of time it takes to get a packet of data to the test site and recieve a response measured in milliseconds...the lower the number the better. (Correct me if I’m wrong fellas) I’ve just checked mine and I have a 22ms ping on a wired connection. I have a basic Virgin Media package and I’m happy with the gaming experience I get. Hope this helps

I love the tech his company creates. These last few episodes though, they remind me of someone that just went off their meds completely.

It’s safe to say that this game has kind of taken over my life since the beta dropped last week. The game is so tense and so brutal I can’t seem to stay away. It says a lot that I now use a few rounds of PUBG as a bit of light relief from Tarkov. You have limited resources before dropping into a game and the decision whether to equip your character with a knife or a gun. If you die (and you will, a lot if you’re not a quick learner) you lose the equipment you’re carrying for ever. Some players will go in just carrying a knife as they no longer have any better weapons and hide themselves hoping to scavenge from dead bodies that haven’t been looted. I started by deciding to try and learn the maps first before getting wrecked. I like the fact that I can go into the maps in offline mode to learn them. Offline mode allows you to control what time you enter the map and whether or not to include AI. Progress isn’t stored and items aren’t lost. I’ve concentrated on two maps for now, Factory and Shoreline. Both very different, Factory is seriously mental, close combat. With AI and other human players all close together and the sound (which is epic) makes everyone seem really close to everyone else. Sometimes the human players team up and signal their intent with the Q and E wiggle but that’s not been my experience. Kill on sight so far. Shoreline is bigger much more open, and has been where most of my success have come. I enter that map with a pistol and leave with a shotgun or AK. I’m building up my weapon store, have a bunch of shotties and AK47s from my conquests so far. Everything is uber realistic and you can take the weapons apart and add all sorts of builds and attachments. I could go on about this game for ages but I think it’s kind of a niche experience. It’s for freaks like me who love to shit their pants as part of an enjoyable gaming experience. I love these kinds of games, I really do I love the trembling fingers on the mouse and the rapidly beating heart and the joy each time I have managed to Escape from Tarkov with my life and bit of looty mcloot.
