Sometimes I feel like the internet is nothing but a means for assholes to spread their assholeness to a much broader audience. Case in point- Last week I sold GTA5 on Ebay, I finished the game and really only care for the story mode so figured I'd give someone else a chance to own if rather than it sitting unused in my rack. So I sold it last week on Ebay. First off I have been on Ebay for 10 years, have 100% positive feedback on 840 transactions (in other words I am a responsible and honest buyer/seller). The winning "bidder" on my auction just joined Ebay 3 days before winning my auction and has ZERO feedback. They bid on the auction right at the end and won it. Then 3 days go by without payment. I send a 2nd invoice, still no payment after 4 days so I file a case/non paying bidder with Ebay. Then 6 days after winning the "buyer" sends me a message saying to cancel the transaction because their game system broke. Okay wait a minute, lets use logic here, they are trying to tell me their game system broke in the 1 hour between them placing the bid and the auction ending? I don't think so. So I reply back to them in a polite manner telling them they need to pay for what they won because the auction has ended and its been a week so the other bids I had are now useless since this person won and has not paid for a weeks time. I get a reply back. First of all this person is either 1)- An immature kid, or 2) - Adult that is completely ignorant and has no education what so ever. Because there is ZERO punctuation, zero grammar, misspelled words all over, and the usage of terms is totally incorrect. Here are the few messages between myself and this mental giant today. The quoted ones are the "buyers" replies. (keep in mind this is a week after they won the auction and have not paid. I can not just cancel this, Ebay does not work that way. You bought this a week ago, not only does it cost me selling fee's on Ebay but other people bid and you outbid all the others so now I can not even offer it to the other bidders since they have obviously already bid and won others for themselves. If you did not plan on paying then you should not have bid, You need to be responsible for what you won and finish the transaction you entered into. First off READ the rules of Ebay. When you place a bid it is a binding contract because when you win an auction it means the other bids of the other people are now useless. Plus the only way I get reimbursed on the fee's ebay charged me is to open a Non paying bidder case with ebay, then wait 4 days, then after they have reimbursed me THEN I can relist it. I can not just cancel after the auction ends or I lose my fee's I paid. But that still means you have negated the other bids I had so I now have to go back through bidding again. I find it very funny that you are saying you will report me?? You are in fact a NON PAYING BIDDER yet you feel you are going to report me for something? Be my guest, because when you tell Ebay that you won an auction then did not pay they will in fact give you a "strike" because I have done nothing to you but ask you to follow through with your responsibilities with what you agreed upon by placing the bid/winning the auction. BTW the issue was already reported by me to ebay 2 days ago. And I will be following up with them. I did not bother replying back again to this obvious moron. I simply reported him for a 2nd time to ebay, this time for using foul language as well as being a non paying bidder. I tell ya people that act like this online are nothing but cowards, because if this person actually saw me in person I would bet they would be singing a different tune than saying "fuck you" because I would twist this idiot into a knot and drop kick him through the uprights of asskickingville!

I'll update this thread with more info when I can but I thought I'd give some basic info as a starter, considering the most well known North American teams have just been confirmed. The event's qualifiers started on January 18th and the team have now been confirmed, to compete for the World Champions in LA, on 28th-30th March. There are 32 teams in total, a quarter of which are NA teams. This weekend, the final NA qualifiers took place. 16 teams qualified for a double elimination tournament with the top 8 qualifying for the World Champs. This meant that to qualify, a team had to win two games out of three. A double elemination works as so: Each team start in the winner's bracket. If you win your game, you move on in the winner's bracket, the losing team drops to the loser's bracket. If you lose your game in the loser's bracket then you're out. The winner of the loser's bracket takes on the on whoever is undefeated from the winner's bracket. Simples. This is who qualified: Strictly Business (who won the event) Complexity (runners up) Team Kaliber EnvyUs Xfinity Gaming OpTic Gaming FaZe Competitive Rise Teams that missed out: Curse LV Curse NY The Denial Teams The main games from the weekend (because qualifying was the primary goal for all teams): In Round 1, OpTic beat Denial West, putting them one game away from COD Champs. They took on EnvyUs in Round 2, losing 3-1, dropping them to loser's bracket. This allowed EnvyUs to qualify. Curse LV had a shock and lost to Rise in round 1. This put them in to loser's bracket (3 of this team are the current World Champs). Curse NY also lost (although I'm not sure who to). This meant that at least one of the Curse teams wouldn't make it as they made in round 1 loser's bracket. The winner of that would play OpTic, with the winner of that game qualifying for COD Champs. So, one qualifying spot, would go to Curse LV, Curse NY or OpTic. These are all top 8 teams, and two were going. Curse NY beat Curse LV 3-2. LV went up 2-1 in the series after Blitz but NY took Dom and a comfortable SnD to go through and play OpTic. The OpTic game was huge for them. Lose, and go home. OpTic took the game 3-2, with a really clutch game of Dom and SnD in games 4/5. I'm not Nadeshots biggest fan but his SnD start, 7-0, was huge. This meant that there will be no Curse teams at COD Champs. What happens to both Curse teams now will be interesting. Killa LV expected to retire. I'll update it with more info about the event in the next bit. All the matches are available on YouTube at MLG Official COD. What I will point out about the UK teams is that 4 qualified, and one of those teams was ALMOST a bunch of pubstompers. TYT, made up of FearCrads, BennyCentral, QuickerThanU and Insomulus were one game away from qualifying, losing to Team Orbit (who they beat previously). The top team from the UK, Epsilon, will be in OpTic's pool at Champs, that will be an interesting game.

This is why I fucking hate ebay. It's accessible to anyone who is capable of creating an account and it shows. So many morons it's unreal. Don't even try sell a modern phone on ebay, you'll have to sift through all the messages going "hi I broke my phone can I have your $600 phone for $50 pls". When it goes down; it usually costs £2.99 which is exceptional value. I picked mine up before Xmas at that price and it was the same in the winter sale. I reckon it will drop in the next big sale which can't be too far away. Add it too your wishlist and you get notified if the price drops.

I've never had to have a mutual cancellation so I was not sure how that would work with my fees I already was charged. Plus even if I did get my fees back I feel a mutual cancellation would be nothing more than my aiding people in abusing honest sellers. Reason why- Now that sellers can not leave negative feedback for buyers there has been a rash of non paying bidders over the past year. What is to stop someone from bidding on three different GTA5 auctions and winning all three then choosing to pay only for whatever one was the lowest winning bid they won, then cancelling the two other ones they won, then that in turn causes two sellers the hassle of having to go through cancelling, being credited, then relisting and hope that it doesn't happen to them again. That happens all too often now on ebay if you read the seller forums on the ebay community. So I refuse to help enable these low life non paying bidders by giving them the easy way out. And I never ship a single item on ebay without tracking so that they can not lie and say it never showed up. Easy solution IMO. Only bid on what you want and then be a responsible adult and pay your bill. Not lecturing you BoroVC just explaining why I would not do a mutual cancellation for someone like this even if I did get my fees back by doing it is all.

From what I've read and seen on the tv news, the black boxes have a fairly limited transmission range so you would need to be relatively close to before you received a signal. Also, and in all probability they are submerged in up to 300ft of water, which is substantially less than the Air France black box which was located in 13,000ft of water on the Atlantic sea bed 2 years after the crash. They have roughly 30 days of battery life before they stop transmitting. Maybe this is something that needs to be improved upon going forwards to allow for better and quicker recovery. Imagine a plane breaking up at 30,000ft doing 500mph and how far debris could be spread across. Even if they find floating debris it could a be long time before they even close to the flight recorders and other clues. I don't think we are going to get any definitive answers for quite some time. First and foremost they simply need to find something that confirms it went down, to at least give the families of those involved a definite answer despite the fact that it will all but extinguish any hope of finding survivors. The Chinese are getting more and more frustrated at the perceived lack of information which is somewhat understandable, but would they have been able to do better in the same circumstance? Possibly they might by sheer weight of resource available, but they need to bear in mind it did take 5 days to find any debris from the Air France flight.

Took a break for a couple hours from rod work tonight to finish this up. All done and painted and fukien tea bonsai replanted into a semi cascade style. Still have some branch pruning to do on it, but I will let it sit for a few months to recover from the transplant before doing that.
