First batch of problems acknowledged by Treyarch https://charlieintel.com/2018/08/03/treyarch-outlines-what-they-are-aware-of-after-day-1-of-black-ops-4-beta/

I so hope to god they remove the cursor UI and go back to basic navigation or at least give us the choice. These cursors for controllers are not trendy and their justification is pure cringe.

I hope bunny hopping isn't going to grow into a major problem. I fucking hate this shit in battle royale games and other FPS titles - it looks ridiculous and it can botch the netcode meaning it's harder to play against.

I'll be watching developments in the armour element closely but I get the feeling Treyarch aren't keen on budging - people at E3 were warning about this and although were 'only 24 hours into the beta'; it's not going to get any better.

Ive watched a couple of videos with conflicting reviews I've seen ttk that's horrendous and then thunders video where he got multiple 2 and 3 piece kill feeds, im guessing he's using that special router? Thing is Trey arch have always been random with hit detection. I really don't like all the extra bs and complications around equipment spam and specialists etc it just looks too messy and hectic. I will keep an eye on it but at the moment unless there's a reason to get it to play with people off here I don't think I'll bother. Haven't played much cod in last few years so not likely to miss it.

After playing this for a while I can honestly say I'm very disappointed.

The maps are quite poor and very small and just not up to the usual Treyarch standard. Seems they've basically all been designed for this new Control mode.

Core is quite literally unplayable for me.

The spawn system is utterly shit. It's not unusual to spawn and be shot in the back instantly. I had a few games where I literally had players spawn in front of me. I suspect the map size has something to do with this.

I wasn't expecting much after all the rumours of them ditching the original game any way. But after BO3, which was excellent, this seems like a step backwards.

I've heard and read a lot of feedback that say the classic/traditional COD modes don't work very well with the maps and general gameplay design. Matches certainly don't look like they flow very well either from the footage I've watched - spawn, die, spawn, die, spawn, die etc... and the maps have a very limited and linear design.

One video I watched said that AR's a absolutely useless as is ranged combat as you're shooting a whole clip into someone trying to land bullets against someone and all they do is cover-heal and then it's back to square one. SMG's seem to be the only viable gun aside from close-ranged sniping (quickscoping) because of poor sight lines, high health compounded with dodgy bullet detection.

Double kills seem to be rare unless you camp and pray you don't have someone spawn behind you.

Played a few matches so far and I'm really happy with the beta as it's so bad that I've just saved myself £40.

Even 5v5, it's so erratic and convoluted - there is just so much going on that unless you are part of a team who are communicating; tactics just go out of the window and everything is a mess.

+ The movement feels fluid albeit still leaning towards advanced rather than BOTG

- TTK is a joke

- Spawns are horrendous

- The HUD is littered with shit

- The interface is a fucking mess

- Maps are ok but it feels like it's just lane 1, lane 2, or lane 3

- Manual regen/insta heals just ruin ranged combat

- Gameplay is a bit exhausting, frustrating and boring

- Visuals are very dated as is the engine

- Too many needless changes for the sake of it that didn't even need changing

- Mini map is confusing as hell

- Snipers are OP - shoot someone 3 times in the head and they live to kill you in one shot to the shin!

- Headglitching is rife on some maps

The TTK is probably the biggest dealbreaker as I shoot someone for ages, land plenty of hits, finally kill them yet before I can heal or gather my thoughts, someone else kills me. Every engagement is tiring and long-range battles are pointless as players can heal in comfort sending shootouts back to square one minus a shitload of bullets. If you use an AR to combat this; SMG rip in CQC so it's just a waste of time. If the enemy isn't within a certain radius you may as well not bother.

I'm going to give it another shot tomorrow but I can't see my experience improving as the fundamental problems are set in stone and are just too prominent. There's just so many unnecessary changes and bizarre inclusions that are ripped out of more appropriate games that look so out of place here. It's like Treyarch have just got carried away stealing innovations from other games that they've lost sight of what COD is and why they want to include such changes. This is not a game I'd expect from them in a 3 year cycle and for me, they've gone from the franchises most trusted and reliable developers to a bunch of poachers who are out of ideas and don't even know what the fuck they are doing anymore.

That video pretty sums up the problem with this game. They are trying to make it tactical when COD players don't want a tactical game. COD is just a fast paced, arcade shooter. That's what people want from the game.

I've noticed that headglitching is becoming more and more prominent the more I play and there seems to be plenty of spots on all the maps.  There are just so many boxes and windows dotted around and the fact you literally need 3 perfect headshots to kill someone just makes it so difficult and frustrating especially if they can duck and insta-heal. It's particularly bad with snipers who can overlook corners for one hit kills knowing that 90% of their body is in cover.

How did you get a code without preordering mate? Or is the beta now open?

I'm too late with this info but I just order games from Amazon to get the code and then just cancel the pre-order.

I'm playing the PC version which is thankfully in open beta.

Hopefully the next 'beta' phase will be open for all. That'll probably be the Blackout beta.

Cheers mate. Out of the loop with most CoD things these days so ill keep an eye out here for when the beta is open to all

The beta ends today but anyone with it still installed should keep it on their system because it will just convert into the Blackout beta with a small update in the 3rd beta phase. Saves uninstalling it and then having to reinstall the entire package next time at an ever greater gb cost.

Didn't mind the PC version. COD is COD and hasn't really changed much in 10 years.
If it wasn't for all the shady financial stuff I'd probably get it. I won't be getting it.
