I think the game is worthwhile to buy as it will get some hours ploughed into it. I do agree though that's more because there aren't many games that really shine of late (you could extend that to over 12-18 months).

 

Its a game that really needs multiple squads working together, not just your squad. We were busting a gut last night to win a conquest game on the new big map for this weekends beta and it was such a struggle to keep up with the opposition.

 

King of the Hill worked relatively well last night, although feels like that's more for the CoD players coming across. I wonder how much of the game they are holding back for official launch. Maybe it'll have a rocky start due to the playerbase but you can see there is a good foundation for a game here and certainly one that will grow in time.

 

Btw, whats the advantage of being anything other than Assault or Medic? Couldn't see what difference the other roles were performing so far in the Beta.

I'll be picking it up, mostly for the single player tbh and I want to see reviews of that first too before I spend a penny. 

I'm too invested in Tarkov these days but who knows, if the FG community play it a lot maybe I'll consider picking it up early.

The latest map isn't a big one imo and I'm annoyed they didn't put one into the beta, annoyed and suspicious.

Aren't they releasing operation firestorm with the game ? Then maybe they will drip feed the older bigger maps into the game as additional content?

Yeah, there's 8 maps (6 small ones est) and then one more with Firestorm. That will be the most popular by a mile I bet and then we gotta hope that every map after that they release will be similar in philosophy. If they release one map every two months then people are just going to walk away. I wish it was like BF4 where you would get a brand new regional map pack. I think it had a total of 34 maps in a year which was insane considering how top quality the majority were. I'll be stunned if we get to 15 in a year on BF6 and I'm expecting more shoeboxes post-launch rather than blockbuster landscapes. They'd be better remastering a chunk of BF3/4 maps if they can't handle the work.

That does seem to be the plan, maybe they think the big maps will scare off the COD players.

 

I'm with you through, BF4 was the last one I properly enjoyed. What a game that was.

Definitely would like to hear about it,  there's still servers up for both. Plus I enjoyed their single player campaigns too, and worth it just for that imo

Just had a game on BF4 and it was great! Not a huge population as people are still playing BF6 but there are still a few servers knocking about and it's tremendous fun.

I tried the new map on the BF6 beta and it's very small once again - possibly the smallest so far and there is no vehicles even in conquest. It's pretty chaotic with players often bunching and running around aimlessly and you can be killed in many directions. Even spawning on a flag can see you spawn well outside of the radius and literally within shot of an enemy. This feels more like a 48 player map tops and plays like a domination match. This basically means I have played on half of the maps available in the final game with 3 being overly small and the other being a linear-medium one. I'm worried they are going to get old fast because after less than 5 hours in the beta, I'm pretty burned on all of them aside from the new one and there isn't one standout game I have played in that feels dramatically different with a shift of class or strategic approach.

I think assault is the worst class if I am being honest so with the others -

 

Engineer, can destroy vehicles with RPG's and the mine, I think the mine is crap though and far too big so easy to spot.

Recon is great for the respawn point, however frustratingly every time you place it in, your squad can spawn on it but as soon as you do it breaks and you need to put it back down.

Sorry I missed this before I went away, tanks as with I think every battlefield they have weak points. Get them just right and you do a lot more than 25 damage, I know one of the tanks if you hit it in a certain place to the rear you, the turret rings and tracks usually do additional damage too I think. If you hit the armour then yeah it does 25 damage.

 

I had another go yesterday with 2 of my battlefield guy's and enjoyed it, I am on the fence about buying it right away as mentioned before and it's mainly because of being burned by the last game. Squad play as ever does work, I think my more recent cons -

 

- Snipers are overpowered and on some maps it becomes unplayable as now cover can be blown to bits it makes it difficult to move from cover to cover.

-  I do prefer guns to be locked to classes

- The issue with 4 man squads. I think when portal is launched with the game (assuming it is) we can probably get round it by all selecting to join a server by searching them rather than jumping into official servers.

According to a credible leak, two additional maps coming at launch will be bigger which is good news. We already know Operation Firestorm is a good size so all eyes on the remaining two. Hopefully these bigger environments aren't too cluttered so land vehicles can breathe and we have some channels to work into. I hope Eastwood isn't lifted from the battle royale mode though. 

 

 

Played a game on OF earlier and it was epic. This is proper Battlefield and I never really experienced that feeling in the beta
