Dying Light 2 has added a plethora of microtransactions and also forces users to buy their in-game premium currency to obtain in-game items. Another masterclass from Tencent - destroy your brand and alienate your players in the hope of making a few extra bucks die hard fans of the game. Lost count of how many games these shitty companies can absolutely ruin. Dying Light was an absolute masterpiece just less than a decade ago and to see the state of the series now and the ethics behind it is so sad. Still no release and we're creeping into MW3 territory now. If they don't get it out within the next 2 weeks then the only viable release window would be around March to May next year. Not sure what's happened after the beta phase - everything has gone awfully quiet and news has stalled somewhat. Releasing it now and it could very well with DOA or on life support in 8 weeks time. They really should've got this out in July.

I managed to secure a refund in the end. Disappointed but massively relieved! Biggest issue I had was the lack of exploration - go to ship > cutscene > sit down > cutscene > loading screen > press space > cutscene > map > click > cutscene > loading screen > exit seat > loading screen > resume within points of interest areas. Comparable indie titles such as No Mans Sky and Outer Wilds - go to ship > sit in cockpit > activate manual controls > manually fly to destination > land anywhere > turn off engine > exit seat > leave ship manually > walk anywhere. Bethesda's design formula just looks so limited and outdated for me. I honestly thought I wouldn't mind it being a fan of their previous works but it's just got too old and archaic for my liking as is the basic interactions which are quite frankly pathetic compared to Baldur's Gate 3 which was made in less time. Starfield is basically a fragmented open world game where you visit scaled down areas under the illusion of this unlimited universe which is merely made up of menu screens and tiresome loading and cutscenes. The immersion just died every time I walked into a building and I was met with yet another loading screen. Nowhere near as seamless as the developers initially portrayed. They are either deluded or as dishonest as they've always been.

They will put more resources into ensuring people's feelings aren't hurt in lobbies with players they wont ever see again than using AI for detecting cheaters🤣 The people that are pushing this seem to be extremely toxic developers and streamers so it's the usual blend of hypocrisy. Imagine getting banned because you spoke too loudly in a match lmao! COD isn't the first to adopt this and it wont be the last but this is the beginning of the commie-lobby era.

I've played about an hour and a half so far and at the risk of finally getting banned, I have submitted a refund request. It's not a bad game by any means from what I played early on but I just don't think I can be bothered with Bethesda's archaic and limited game design any more. Performance is all over the place and the combat is pretty atrocious, as is the AI. If the game is as slow to get going as they say then I'd rather just have my money back than risk playing longer and still not really enjoying it. The initial story premise is about as generic as it can get. The interface is pretty awful as is the optimisation options and I cannot believe they've made AMD GPU tech an exclusive. Certainly not letting them get bailed out with mods on that one and many other aspects. The game does look good in places but at its core, it does feel a decade out of date and Bethesda have failed so evolve as a developer with real ambition and scope.

Good to hear! I'm just glad they are 'supporting' 21:9 but it looks to be vert- so first thing I'm doing is doing a custom ini FOV and setting it to 120. The default seems to be in the 70-75 range which is absolutely nasty and people buying on Xbox will have a very boxed-in experience with no built-in slider.

Spec Ops: The Line was a standout game for me. Although it's been popular at deep discounts and is rated very well, it really does deserve more recognition. It's basically a military-themed Gears of War set in Dubai with a powerful story -
Yeah reviews seem to be a bit mixed - on the one hand the game seems quite archaic in terms of design and tech but on the other, it's like a typical Bethesda experience with lots to see and do. I really don't know what to expect and I'm also taking into account how the game may start off slow before it really gets going. Either way, at least it's something new and original to experience!

They are lucky teams like Luton and Sheff Utd are in there else they'd be prime contenders for relegation🤣 I love how shit they are as a business - literally just hijack other team's potential targets and then overpay by £40m taking it well over one hundred million and then the player turns out to be a total flop that wouldn't get into the QPR team! £1.5bn and find yourself behind Brentford lol!

If you're just using 1080p then you can expect to run most modern games at almost-maximum settings. There may be some issues with certain games especially the RAM hungry ones like TLOU but otherwise that's a half-decent rig that will keep you going for at least 4 years before you even have to consider really toning things down. £250-300 is a very fair price.

Volition were always on thin ice after Agents of Mayhem. They were then given a reprieve and a huge budget for a new Saints Row game and then general feel from the community and their veteran developers was this was the last chance saloon. They made a catastrophic tonal change that did not resonate with the massive community and many longstanding fans had their points instantly dismissed so it created a lot of friction on either side. Embracer who have got themselves into some pickles of late likely did not want to continue paying 150-odd full time employees and then bankroll another future flop. If they had just made a traditional Saints Row game instead of going all vegetarian Watch Dogs then they probably would've been fine but this rebranding was always going to be poorly received. What also didn't help and just like Disney these days, the people they hired had no respect for the brand or the source material which makes it an incredibly hard sell.
