They dragged it on by an hour and when they did reveal the presentation of the Handsome Collection and Borderlands 3, it was marred by technical difficulties. Both trailers were stuttering and running at about 10fps so they restarted it and it still didn't work. Luckily at the time they already had the reveal trailer up on the official channel but the whole thing was a bit of a shambles from start to finish.

I've soloed it so far and it's very manageable with only hammer elites causing any real difficulty. As long as you don't put yourself in a position where you can be got from behind or flanked easily, most missions play out the same. The turret can be a great deterrent to stop flankers and the drone also helps. I think most of the few deaths I've had is where I've glued myself in cover and instead of coming unstuck, I've moved around into the open whilst still attached to the cover surface. Having a OHK sniper as a secondary can be very useful and enjoyable too.

It should be for games like Wolfenstein and Doom but I fear other brands will have more aggressive monetization models in place now to mitigate the revenue slice lost per transaction. They were the chief instigators for paid mods on Steam and I worry them returning will bring the old controversies back too.

Gearbox misread the market badly with Battleborn so if Borderlands 3 is anything Battle Royale related; that will probably end up going the same way aka DOA. They should've made Borderlands 3 ages ago instead of ploughing money and time into risky concepts so anything less than the typical Boderlands format here wont be received well IMO.

EA are scum of the earth but I don't think they are to blame with this one. They gave BioWare almost 7 years to get a very basic game format to market and the developers failed miserably especially with the core fundamentals. This studio has been given substantial backing in this gen and it's failed with each game it's put out. Even if Anthem was given another 3 years, it still wouldn't address the failings attributed to the core fundamentals. The fact the game isn't seamless and is plagued by loading screens is the most fatal flaw right off the bat especially when compared to rival games and that's down to bad game design and development. BioWare wouldn't have received such generous backing over the years under any other AAA publisher especially with their declining reputation.

Level 29 so far with one horrible side mission and then the final stronghold which will see me perfectly into level 30. Both strongholds I did were very easy and pretty underwhelming. The one in the stadium had some impressive interiors but just killing a few in each concourse wave was fairly straightforward. The boat one was a little more challenging and lasted longer but seeing off the waves was pretty routine also I found. The hammer enemies that kill you in one hit are bloody annoying though. 36 hours so far and I'll probably wrap it up around 40 but not sure if I'll bother with the endgame.

..to Steam I'm only really interested in Doom Eternal and possibly Wolfenstein though. Fallout 76 may even go F2P as it'll be foolish putting the game on for £39.99 when it can be got for about £8 in bargain bins and that was even a couple of months back. Knew Bethesda would struggle with their own store and that they would ultimately come back or suck up to Epic.

Completely agree with this particularly with the killstreaks, weapons and maps. It's a great watch and look back at a remarkable game and really puts into perspective how things have gotten worse in the franchise in recent memory.

Definitely the worst in my generation and they've had some stinkers in that time. They also have San Marino in their group which could be a tough match especially after last night's humiliation.

This is supposed to be just as hard although the combat is more refined and mistakes are more forgiving. You can also stealth, avoid and even grapple out of tricky situations whereas in DS or BB sometimes you have to run away like a fanny or just accept death as inevitable! I will probably stroll through the tutorial area thinking I am brilliant and then get destroyed by the first boss.
