Well, its been 3 months since my Grandad passed away and its been very surreal time for me. For those that don't know, who haven't read my PPR, he was essentially my Dad. Lived with him all my life until I met my wife and always remained close to him.

Without me knowing, you guys did what you always do best - you jumped to surround me, look after me when I felt quite lost and being great friends whenever I needed it. Exactly what you'd expect family to do. But you also gave me an opportunity to always have him remembered, by me, my family and everyone else that he helped along his journey. For that, i'll be eternally grateful to you all.

The tree and plaque you all contributed to will be placed at the Cricket Club down the road from where we lived. It was where I played all my cricket through the early years and where he was right by my side. I wanted to put this up when I had the plaque in my hands (came Friday) and was very apt timing, because this Sunday the family met up for a special meal - his last wish rather than have his money spent on a funeral.

It was a great day, and great memories made. Even better when I could show some family members what all of YOU guys and girls did. I didn't need more reasons to keep this place going but just when I needed it, its perfectly timed, like always.

Thank You will never be enough.

One last note is I want you to know that i'm getting better - He's always with me when we play. He sits below me, every night we game together and when I post on FG like right now. I'm going to keep it that way because he made me believe never to give up on things. Like this place.

Ok Folks, here is a comprehensive guide to improving your nutrition and feeling better/potentially helping you trim a bit of fat if that's your thing.

I'm going to present it as a series of suggestions, @Nutcuttlit will add to this list also as he has expertise here too.

    1) The best way to feel good is to get the appropriate amount of vitamins and minerals. These come from good quality food and a varied diet (more on this later), my first suggestion is really simple. Go to amazon and buy yourself a Vitamin D and a Vitamin B tablet - these are two essential vitamins that EVERYONE lacks in their diet. Here is a link to the ones I would suggest: Vitamin D Vitamin B These pills have exactly the correct amount you need per day.

    2) Changing your eating habits is hard, it takes 21 days for something to form as concrete habit. My second suggestion is to make 1 change a week, this will make it easier to sustain and turn into a new habit. My biggest suggestion for a change right off the bat is to take a healthy lunch with you to work, I have grown very fond of my Thermos Compartment Flask as it allows me to take a hot lunch in one side and some carrots, cherry toms, cucumber in the other. It also has a spoon in it, it's all encompassing. This way I know I have a tasty lunch I WANT to eat and my obligatory veggies that will keep me full.

    3) Losing weight is rather easy, its just the application that difficult. My final suggestion is to keep a food diary. Download MyFitnessPal (it's free) and scan/log EVERYTHING you eat. Once you know how many calories you're eating daily (just be honest when you track, no one is gonna know except you), all you have to do is remove some of the calories to start losing weight. A good deficit is about 500kcal a day, however this doesn't have to be from just your food. You could try and burn 300kcals exercising (walk up and down the stairs for 20mins - that's the easiest 300kcals you will ever burn) and then ditch 200kcals from your diet.

This should be enough to get you started, I'm going to add a meal planner thing later today!

I'll be going off in a few days for my summer holiday with the family so radio silence from me will commence on Tuesday for a week. I'm expecting to feel rejuvenated with more annoying PMA to get your arses engaged for an awesome few months coming up. Some big games that us as a community can get behind but also tons of stuff I want us all to be involved in and have a laugh with - as thats what its all about innit?

Many people don't realise FG is more than just a forum and we have tons of stuff covered here which we want to make more use of. Its all down to us and thats what we'll be committing too. I think the best way to show all the stuff we do is by the infographic below - I wonder how many people realise we do all of this....:

It's clear to see we have so much stuff to do as a group and a family of awesome people. We just need to make it all more accessible and get thing smoving again. So, with that said, whilst i'm away i'd like some input from all of you, newbies or veterans, to give us your say on the following areas. We'll look to start picking this stuff up when i'm back from holiday:

FG's Future Instant Chat Method - Vote ASAP and give your reasons

FG's Homepage Overhaul - thoughts needed

FG's Suggestions Needed - Anything and Everything please

FG's Biggest Road Trip - Need your games/food/drink requirements now

FG Pictures - Gaming, Everyday and your Memes - Get them up and then get voting!!

There's clearly more around but lets get to it FGers!!

crispymorgan reacted to GazzaGarratt in June 2019 FG Update - Perspective (Thanks in advance for reading)
I was aimlessly looking into my screen for multiple nights here, thinking my life isn't in the most 'ideal' position. And then I looked at 2 things: 1) all the messages i've been recently being talking with and 2) my very first Private Message on here.

Firstly, I really enjoy keeping in touch with you all, either on here or whatever way we possibly can. I think when things are difficult or different in your life its always good to keep perspective. Yeah, I'd love to give more to my family but actually i'm in a really good spot and i should be more grateful. I think lots of people don't realise how much other people, that are pretty much your mates that you game with and share the best moments of your life with, can have serious problems in their lives.

From depression to critical accidents to marriage breakdowns to severe anxiety and then to life threatening scenarios, this list could go on and on. I'll never share personal conversations, thats not right to do so, but I think it's right for me to say this out loud that for these reasons alone is enough to keep me driving this place forward with the all the great people that support it so much.

You see, I will always be there for you all. But it isn't just me. Forever Gaming will be here for you all. Whenever you need us. There's some wonderful people here that have some great views on life and offer amazing support, even when you think you don't need it. I can't do this without @Diddums @phil bottle @tronic44 @crispymorgan and everyone else outside of us that sort out the little adminy bits to keep it ticking over.

The second and last point to make is when I was looking for @ChaosGladiator address in my PMs so I could send him a little pressie from the FGFGF, I came across @Stretch616's PM to me on October 26, 2014. It was a blog draft for our first ever Vault of Glass run. Its an amazing write up and made me realise not to feel so bad to nudge and nag (just like this post) some of you to remind you why we're here and why we're more than just a gamertag. I'll put his original post in a Spoiler below but I wanted to pick out a key message in his awesome write that I don't think ever got to a blog post in the end. It was this:

However, Forever Gaming is not about the end result, it’s about the journey.

I think it says it all. I'll be sharing this around with as many FGers, old and new as I can. I think Stretch's words are worth reading alone.

And if you still with me by now, thank you. For that, its the reason why as of today you now see whole new sections for Guides, Tournaments, Photo Comps, Controller Hospital (Patch Notes below) and everything else that was already here.

Thanks all for an amazing ride so far. I appreciate every single one of you coming back to FG, however long your absence has been. What I do hope this time though, is you just stay a little longer - you may not know or realise it, but your words and time taken out to read others words might make the key difference in their life.

Bit of an update.  Working on one of @GazzaGarratts controllers.  Replaced triggers, but there is still a dodgy analog controller that is jumping a bit.  I've ordered a few and we'll see how they go.  Should be ok, and hopefully another controller fit and well.

My middle mouse button has been a bit temperamental of late.  It's a Logitech G402.  Lovely mouse but annoying when you try and use the button and nothing happens in overwatch.  A quick bit of googling suggests it's an Omron B3F-1000.  Ordered one off the 'bay  for £1.21 but they sent 2, so 60p each. nice.  First thing to do is find the screws, in this case they live under the mouse skates.  I've got them off, but maybe I'll order some fresh ones as they have a few kinks in, they were well glued on there.

Next phase is to locate the button.  Easy peasy, it's the white one under roughly where the middle mouse button is.

Tear down the mouse so I can get to the solder.

Using my new super duper solder sucker to remove solder.  It's a pain to do so no pics.  I find the best way is to add more solder, melt it and then press the button on the sucker and it hoovers up the solder (it's a spring loaded widget).  Now the button is removed.  Clear the holes as necessary and insert new button.

Now to solder it in place.  The gloopy stuff is flux that helps the solder flow.

Nice simple job, no new mouse needed and fixed for £1.21.  I love to fix things and it's always nice to save having to buy something so you can put the money to other stuff.

"If you are there always for others, then in time of need, someone will be there for you."

I think this is pretty fitting for Forever Gaming. That's really down to all the wonderful people here. I can go on and on about how this year for me personally has been a hard start but I imagine, and in a lot of cases I know, that a lot of people's lives inside and outside of FG are in a far more difficult spot.

You all deserve a place that's always here when you need it. You need people, not just me, that are willing to listen, care about your opinion and are here to make your lives worthwhile. We've been relatively quiet in 2019 so let's make a little noise for all those people that need a little fun and support.

We've made a planner for the next few months. I hope you can see there's different bits and bobs on there for everyone. Its a start. Let's build on it together. They'll be more than just this I'm sure.

One feature I wanted to just pick out is FGer Game Choice. We all love different games but we can't play them all the time. However, as we organise most nights for us to party up, its only right that we should ask treasured FGers what they think we should play for a night of fun together. This should be for new and old FGers and the only way this will work though is if we support each other and play for those few hours. It may not be much sometimes but for others it means far more than you'll ever know.

I want to see more people here and in other pockets of FG. You all sometimes forget and don't even realise that y'all being around together with the tiniest nod to say 'hi' or 'nice work' is huge.

I won't go on any further. Look at the pic. They'll be corresponding events, quizzes, threads, tourneys posted up in good time all over FG. Get involved. If not for yourself, but for others.
