To be a true man you must beat at least 5 things a day, can be anything, from your penis to your neighbour.

but seriously, i like what you guys have put down so far. I completely agree with everything that has been said. I'll try and write a bit more once the footies finished because i'm not really concentrating. BTW the bit at the tops a joke, just thought i should mention that.

I got one to add, cartoons that we grew up on we're actually good. Not this shit they have today or even the past ten years. What happened to the Saturday morning cartoons? G.I. Joe,Transformers and Thudercats. We had He-Man,youth today has crap. Not one of today's cartoons can come close to Scooby Doo or Looney Tunes.

Inspired by Drifter's "Get off my lawn" thread.

Back when I was your age, we all knew sluts got famous by being sluts.  Madonna's cone bras and bustiers, Cher using her hair as a bra, that whole basically topless except for the things coming off my Egyptian hat thingy, it was how you got "discovered."  Nobody debated on WHY they were being sluts, they were being sluts because that's a tried and true formula to fame for female celebrities.  Miley is not breaking new ground here, she's following a very worn and proven path.  She's just had to up the game a bit because what sluts used to wear (say, Kelly Bundy on Married with Children) is now less slutty than what Disney girls wear.  Plus, you know, sex tapes and whatnot.  You just have to keep out-slutting the last generation to get the media attention.  On a side note, we used to use the word "sluts".

The Japanese were taking over the whole damned world.  They were this efficient little super race slowly eating us alive with the ever widening trade deficit.  Wal-mart would proudly hang signs over a toaster or pair of socks that would read "this item produced 15 jobs in Chickenfuck, TN" or where-ever.  Oh, and Wal-mart used to close for the night!  Hell, just before that there wasn't even a Wal-mart in most towns.  Yeah, I know.  China made plastic party favor shit and most people figured they were still using rickshaws and wearing pointy straw hats in their rice fields for the most part.

Let's see, what other catastrophes were going to kill us all.  Well, the Cold War until the Berlin Wall thing.  Yeah, the Russians were the bad guys back then.

Smokey Bear was telling us not to burn the damned woods down, and did it so well that apparently we didn't let the woods burn quite as often as we should have.  Sorry about that.

Alar on apples was poisoning us.  I guess that shook out ok.

Drunk driving was WIDELY accepted in society.  Then MADD came along and the pendulum swung way way way the other way.  To this day, we don't do checkpoints for any other misdemeanor, how many TV commercials have you seen about not doing some other misdemeanor crime?  Yes, kids, drinking and driving is bad, but holy crap to we emphasize enforcement of that (along with seat belt laws) way out of proportion to its actual damage to society.  On a side note, seat belts were optional.  Not just use, but installation.  Older folks had new cars with no seat belts at all.  I had two that had lap belts but no shoulder belts.

We didn't know we wanted more cowbell.

Hello everyone here at forevergaming! It's an honor to now be a member of such a great community. What you guys all did for Capn_Underpants is a wonderful thing. There needs to be more communities like you guys.

@Capn, I just realized the major mistake I've made and why your disk drive isn't working.. and I feel like a complete and total moron. The drive that came through NewEgg is still in it's box at my workstation. I put in an old drive that was laying on the desk.. a complete amateur mistake on my part. I was under a lot of stress due to my own computer having troubles, and it's an unforgivable mistake. As soon as I have the funds to ship out the right drive, it will be sent out to Capn. My sincerest apologies for this huge screw up.. I hope I can be forgiven. I was sure that I had everything correct, I even double checked everything before I shipped it out. One thing I'm confused about is why it's not working at all, since I had to use the software disk that came with it to install drivers, and it worked for me then, but I may have unplugged it when I was installing other things. Capn, you have my email, which is the best way to contact me, feel free to send me an email if you need anything..

Other than the problem with the drive, how is everything running? Have you tried gaming on it at all yet?

    Thank You

    So here it is.

I have typed up numerous things on my notepad starting from when I first found out to just the other day. I haven't posted any of it because it just sounds corny. But I kind friend reminded me that if it's something sincere, it cannot sound corny.

When I first found out what you guys were doing I was with my mother as usual. We were watching TV together. It was a commercial and I was checking the forum on my phone and my mom was reading her Angel books.. And when I read the reveal, I tried to get my mothers attention. When she finally looked at me and I told her what you guys were doing, we both started crying. She cried more than me. At this time in my life, we were fighting for our house with the mortgage. My house was up for sheriff sale at least 8 times the past 2 years. But we kept fighting and fortunately we're still living in it! I hope in regards to the house, things are done for a while. And we just keep on getting better in regards with money and all.

After crying happy tears another emotion set in. I didn't want to get my hopes up. Growing up, my parents consistently got my hopes up. If they promised we were going to go somewhere on the weekend it ended with a "We'll do it the next weekend." Then next weekend hit. "We'll do it next weekend." It wasn't just for car rides. It was for other things as well. I learned at a young age to never ever get my hopes up. I was the same way with this. Because I was this way, I didn't tell anyone else in my immediate family until my girlfriend convinced me that it was going to happen and I deserve to be excited about something.

So now the ball is rolling, Dave is sending me some screen shots of his Paypal showing me how much you guys were donating and I was very shocked. What bothered me the most is not knowing who was donating all this money. I really wanted to individually thank whoever was apart of this. So for those of you who want to keep your anonymity, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. You have shed light on what has been a very bad year thus far. In particularly, I want to thank Dave. Way back on the MW2forums, I got some great laughs from you calling people out in posts, and at the same time I was like man that guy is a real douche bag at times. After mending our relationship at the end of the FPSHQ, I felt like it was way passed due, and i'm happy that we could be friends. Now we're here at our new home, Forever Gaming. If I were to have told myself a few years back that you would be someone that I would cherish as a friend, I would have said "Yeah, right." But now that you are... I guess you're stuck with me.

    I love you guys.

PS: The most boring thing about having a new computer is installing everything!

I will take a picture of everything set up when it's all at my desk. Right now I have my computer on my dresser so my TV can be used as a monitor. Then my keyboard is on my hamper and I use my mouse on my knee. Not ideal for gaming, but this will do with installing things and looking at the forums.

Mike I expect you to draw me a fucking rose. Until you get your Internet, you have plenty time to fire up MS paint and make me something pretty. I was annoyed at numerous things earlier today, and I realised that I'm just getting wound up by silly things and you're just disappointed because your brand new favourite toy won't work on day one. Either way, it will very soon and if all goes well we'll be gaming together within a few days.
After all this waiting and anticipation, I'm sure a few more days won't do too much harm. At least you've got it now. It's in your house, there's no going back.
You can also start setting stuff up, world of tanks account, steam, origin, and a Gmail account if you haven't got one. Have you got a PayPal account? If not, make one of those too. Oh then there's that fairydust game that Tommy plays.
Rose first though. The first thing you're going to do with your pc is draw me a rose, which I will somehow incorporate into the forum to reflect what an awesome community this is.

I just want to say something which has not been said yet..

I had no big deal in this (Mikes PC) or Tommys, I only kicked in $10-$20 here and there, I know other like Jay kicked in much more, but I think we need to bring to the fore front what a good person Dave is. He headed up, bought, built both these Pc's for Mike as well as Tommy. How many guys would even think to do this for a fellow friend whom they never even meet in person??

Dave you are one hell of a great guy bud, and I for one, even though I can't say I know you in person, I'm proud to at least be able to call you a "friend" Dave. Living across the pond I wager a bet we will never meet, but I sure hope maybe some day we would be able to sit down and share a drink together because you sure seem like a hell of a good guy whom I would like to know in persaon.

Diddums, you must, I repeat, MUST, do a video with all of you there for your blog, so that those of us that can't be there will have a face and voices to go with the names. Just putting that out there.

Okay, so this video is a bit silly, but there are a lot of truths in it as well. Video games have absolutely brought some people together forming real life, long lasting friendships. Video games can also help siblings bond. Video games can help parents bond with their children. There's a lot of shit talking about video games being a waste of time, but I strongly disagree. Real life friendships can be made through video games. This forum is a testament to that.

My parents divorced when I was 6. When I'd go to visit my Dad on the weekends he would play video games with me and my brother. We'd play Combat, Pac Man, Space Invaders, Super Mario Brothers, Excite Bike, Contra, etc., etc. I have a lot of great memories playing games with my Dad when I was little. He still asks me about new games that are coming out and what games I'm playing. He doesn't play anymore (carpal tunnel surgery in both wrists), but he still shows interest in them with me.

My daughter likes to watch me play games. She always tells me to "get the bad guys, Daddy!" I let her play Fortress Craft on Xbox 360. She just walks around digging holes and putting Easter eggs in them. I built her a pink house and she loves it. We had a great time together doing that.

My best friend, Matt, and I used to play games together throughout our entire childhood. We've been friends since we were 3 & 5. We're both now in our 30's with families. We don't get much free time to make the drive to visit each other, but we still play games together online. It's awesome that we can still play games together even though we live several hours away with little free time.

I've made some friends through this forum. Chris and I talk every day through texts or on the phone. Lee and I have met up a few times to hangout and e-mail each other quite often. I'd say a lot of people on this forum have experienced similar friendships. We've all shared personal things with each other, prayed for each other, and have been there for each others difficulties and celebrations. I'm forever grateful for the PC you all built for me. That was a very humbling experience. I'm sure Mike feels exactly the same way. Video gamers can be pretty nasty at times, but they can also be some of the most kind people I've ever come across.

    Long Live Gaming!

    Thoughts?
