Hm. Do I do the same? Not really. And, I'm going to speak from my best mental health days, which also happened to be my fittest days. (This is something I am getting back to currently) Diets are... not a great thing. At all. I don't necessarily believe in diets. Because long term, they don't work. I think "protocols" that are 21 day/30 day long that are designed properly are building blocks. What does that mean? If at the end of your 21 days or your 30 days, you don't know how to live life without being on those super strict rules, then you learned nothing. If that protocol helped you figure out your trigger foods, your sensitive foods, and/or foods that just makes you feel better or worse, then use that as your foundation to figure out what works for you. People forget that not every guideline works for everyone. For example, I can't eat a banana without putting on like 2lbs the next day (which is probably from inflammation from eating it), but Carl can. I can eat rice without issue, but Carl cannot necessarily. I have people who can digest soy perfectly fine and meet their goals; I can only consume soy (because I love tofu) in moderation. Now, when I'm at my best both mentally and physically, no, I do not necessarily restrict. You can't have a life and being on a "diet". It doesn't work. I make better choices. And, I find balance. It was not until I really delved into the CrossFit/Paleo world that fitness and nutrition started to make sense. There's a sort of saying that "it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change." We talk about 80/20 (80% on point, 20% cheat). We talk about what works for us (I may lean heavily into Whole30 to see stark results or just to reset my taste buds, but I'll still have a piece of chocolate after a meal to signal my brain that I'm done eating). The people who designed Whole30 don't do it all the time and changed their relationship with food. That's the biggest thing. You have to change your relationship with food. I met up with a former co-worker on Saturday. When we worked together, he asked me for help in getting fit. I said I would, but he would have to pay attention and follow what I gave him. Do it for 30 days, then see how he feels. It's been 4 years since then. Those 30 days, he learned what worked for him and what didn't. He ended up changing how he eats, but he never feels restricted. He found a workout regimen he enjoys. @Middle Class Caveman - works extensively with people on body comp and workouts. He has a much deeper understanding of what it takes. TLDR --> Diets don't work. Lifestyle changes do. You need to find out what your body needs. Working with people who understand how food works makes a difference.

EA giving studios freedom with Game development
RenFengge replied to Riff Machine's topic in General Gaming Discussion
This. A million times this. I have seen and watched so many people just play grindy ass games, for what? Look, I've said it before, I play Destiny 2 not because I particularly enjoy it, but because I actually enjoy the people I game with. But please don't think that I think Destiny is anything to be amazed about. It's lazy in the mechanics, the grind, and the various difficulty levels. That said, I am amused on the shit given to Anthem because of the million things wrong with it.. because I see and hear those million things and go "Destiny was originally just as shitty" and all them other loot shooters are just as tedious and terrible as this. But, we want to only shit on Anthem? Come on. I am very much guilty of pre-ordering Anthem and Andromeda... Because I wanted to support my favorite studio in their new direction and hope that EA didn't eat their soul. But, BioWare is dead. Casey gave up, AGAIN. There's nothing to salvage. I also get it. The video game development cycle is expensive. It rivals the budget of likes of Marvel movies and James Cameron movies. And, studios want a return on their money. But, for the love that is all good, just give us games that don't suck and throw microtransactions on them. I will continuously buy things for games I enjoy. But, you will never see me drop $5 on some bullshit outfit or color scheme. Or to unlock a character in a very poorly written story. I want good games. I want games that make me think. That have a story worthwhile. That have characters who I love or love to hate. I want publishers like EA to do more than just throw money and dictate boxes that the studios need to follow, then watch them fail. It's like asking a fish to climb a tree. Look at what Square has done with their failures and risen above them. They have this fantastic Final Fantasy online world that was originally trash, but it is now rich and full after the overhaul. Again, while I am thrilled to have found this gaming community that I thoroughly enjoy, that does not erase the fact that this is a very dark time in the gaming world with trash games everywhere.- 22 replies

EA giving studios freedom with Game development
RenFengge replied to Riff Machine's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I legit cannot help but be annoyed by this. Like... my knee-jerk reaction is "Go burn in hell." Because it rarely has ever been, and it's always been about the $$$ which is why they broke BioWare by demanding them to create GaaS instead of the games that they are actually great at making. This whole interview is a bunch of gaslighting BS. It's EA trying to appease their audience after the news of Casey giving up and Anthem 2.0 no longer happening. It's like an abusive ex saying, "I always loved you, and I promise to not hit you anymore and let you have some more freedom instead of locking you in the house. But, do remember who gave you this mansion to live in and all your food and clothes." So... go burn in hell? I love Dragon Age and Mass Effect. I want DA4 to be amazing. But, I also think that maybe Mass Effect Legendary should be their swan song/greatest hits as they fade away and make room for other studios. I say this as I grew up watching Squaresoft evolve, merge, do whatever, and become Square Enix. As a huge fan of Squaresoft and never thinking we could have the great games that were FFIX and the predecessors, because I loved Chrono Trigger too... and I know the team responsible for those games have moved on. I enjoyed FFVII Remake and will play it all as it is released. But, the heart wrenching stories, especially that of FFVI and Kafka, I haven't seen Square pull anything off like that since FFIX. Anyway, the interview is them covering their ass and is a puff piece. (So say me, an Exec Assistant to numerous powerful people in NYC who has had to work with marketing departments to "create goodwill" with puff pieces)- 22 replies

3/1/2021 Workout 5 Rounds: 5 heavy strict press (adding weight each round) --> 65lbs, 75lbs, 76lbs, 76lbs, 76lbs 10 kettlebell ballistic rows @ 35lbs pair Bonus: 8 Rounds: Tabata Push-ups Baseline/Challenge Thoughts: This was a nice strength workout. I think I finished at the 12 minute mark. Somewhere around there. I had full intention of just doing the strict press with an empty bar (45lbs). One of the coaches was doing the workout with us. He was right next to me. Once the timer started counting down, he said, "Are you going to add weight? It's supposed to be heavy." I said, "Yeah.. in the subsequent rounds." He said, "Yeah... put the 10lbs on. You too, Sally!" Sally and I looked at each other with looks of, "Why? Just why? But, we'll struggle together!" The point of the heaviness was that no one should be able to just breeze through the rounds. You should need to take a rest. However, I'm usually just in survival mode lol. It was a good workout. The third round was when it was getting difficult. I just wanted to do push presses. I ended up making each rep a power clean and strict press because I needed to put the bar down. Oddly enough, the kettlebell ballistic rows were easy? Weird. But it was a good breather. As for the Tabata push ups. I legit said, "I thought that was optional." Because, I thought it was! I don't sign up for the challenges. It's like added pressure to me lol. So, 8 Tabata rounds led me to 62 push-ups. My upper body is smoked today. And, now I want to see a better number at the end of the month when we retest it. So, I guess it's going to be push-ups every other day at home... Last thought. I'm officially down 10lbs since January 1. I'm 2lbs short for month weigh in. Unless those 2lbs magically disappear by tomorrow night via water weight or whatever. Shocking to me. I didn't think i would get this close after that mental space in the beginning of February. So, onward and forward. We'll do this the original Paleo way and not restrict. I do infinitely better, and I needed to be reminded of that.

Yeah. It's difficult. At least you tried! I just don't bother lol and ask @TurboR56Mini to build stuff haha.

Lolz... Sooooooo... That was fun. I think it was a little better than the first boss run? At least we all saw the boss? Also, sucks that the lag prevented us from actually defending ourselves. On the other hand, pretty true to real life? Hahahah.. I mean, are you really going to see some crazy tree vines spurting out of the ground before it kills you? Thanks to everyone who stayed on after to figure out if there's a way to fix the lag issue. I'm not thrilled about needing to tell every person who wants onto the FG server that they have to poke around the program files, but the game is in pre-release. Can't wait until it gets out of it to see all the progress!

@Baabcat - as @TurboR56Mini repeatedly pointed out to me today after my nap, I'm not in a condition to box tomorrow hahaah. I say, "Blasphemy!"... but also... stairs aren't my friend either currently. I guess I'll be on haha.

2/27/2021 Workout Squat Workshop Build to 90% 1 rep max. 10 sets of 3 at 90% (coach changed my weights halfway through.. because I swear he likes to watch me suffer. Detailed breakdown below) Weight changes during the 10 sets: Sets 1 - 5 @ 205lbs (90% rounded up 1 rep max) Sets 6 - 8 @ 210lbs Sets 9 and 10 @ 215lbs (95.5% 1 rep max) Thoughts: Only 1 workout in this week. It was a major board week for me, so that just sucked the life out of me. Plus, since I blew a tire on like Sunday, couldn't get out of the house for my morning workout. Today, when I got into the gym, Coach Tim was explaining what we were doing. I heard him say, "You guys will be doing 10 sets of 3 at your 90% 1 rep max." I blurted out, "That sounds terrible. Oh, that came out of my mouth and didn't stay in my brain." He laughed and said, "So, obviously, La knows exactly what we're doing. Do you want to explain?" I said, "eehhhhhh... you mean that we're doing a riff from a Bulgarian squat program that has been done in CrossFit workshops? And, you decided to give us the worst day of the series right before we do deloading, then testing?" Him, "BINGO! Let's get it!" So, the only way for me to survive this was for me to slightly change my squat depth. I typically squat all the way down and very much below parallel. I decided to hit this at slightly below parallel to make sure I keep the tension and not relax in the hole. Dear lordy, I think I worked my thighs so much more doing that. Right before set 6, Coach Tim was eyeballing my weights and said, "let's add more.. Not a lot. Just 2.5lbs on each side." Me, "But why. It's not like the third rep is easy." Him, "Your third rep isn't difficult enough." Ehhhhhhhhhhh.. mmmkay. At the end of set 8, he was pacing in front of my weights. I said, "You want me to go up by 5lbs again, don't you." He said, "You know me too well." That was a good, tough session. However, I prefer these types of sets lol. Good times. As for my weight, I dropped below a certain pound threshold and am down 9lbs. I'll miss the month weigh in, but I'm happy and the weight will go as it goes.

I saw the glitch... sort of. Well, I saw the post lol. I'll check it later. @Baabcat - It's just a waste of a super if I only kill my servitor lol. if my plans change, you know I'll be there..

I despise EA. Every studio I have loved that they touched is basically dead. They destroy cult-status games and their studios. The BioWare acquisition was worrying ever since ME2. The Anthem mess... yeah, they gave funding, gobs of funding... but also required them to make a GaaS instead of what they do well. This is similar to the issue on forcing BioWare to use Frostbite for Dragon Age Inquisition. Yes, BioWare, generally, thought they could make magic happen like they usually do. But, it was not helpful to be dictated guidelines for a game type that they don't typically do. For BioWare and EA --> A plague on both houses! At least Sony acquires studios and lets them go do what that studio does well. That's how it should be. Not whatever crazy, greedy, dictatorship EA is.

Yuffie!!!!!! Final Fantasy VII Remake is getting a huge PS5 update with a new Yuffie episode WWW.THEVERGE.COM Yuffie Kisaragi is coming to FF7R

Yay! Thanks @Venom for giving me about zero choice in getting a seal! I appreciate it... Not the seal (duh).. but I appreciate the push and the effort lol. Thanks @Baabcat for guiding this poor lost soul haha. And, sorry, @Ajay ... at least @TurboR56Mini didn't get another one?? @Kemp210 - super awesome to have you back in! It's just more fun when you're around. 🙂
-
We miss having you on! I can't be the only one mining and chopping and getting resin to resupply the artist!
-
Too late. @TurboR56Mini already said it this morning hahaha.
-
@Kemp210 is our 6th lol.
-
Ohhhh!!! I remember seeing that and thinking I would watch it. But for whatever reason, I could barely get through Black Mirror. It's a great series, but I haven't been so disturbed by a show in a long time lol.
-
We are/were/have watched The Expanse. And, seriously, I got serious Mass Effect vibes watching it. It can be done. It can be such an amazing limited-run series. If it's done, the romances, I hope, would be what was the most common with the best arcs. For Fem-Sheps, that would be Garrus. For Male-Sheps, it would be Liara. (IMHO) I, truly, loved the ending. But, I also played the series after it was fixed. What show was that?
-
Rumors are terrible... but I'm so here for it. Because 1) I love the original trilogy and never knew modern games could have such depth outside the JRPG world. 2) I've sort of been a fan of Cavill since The Count of Monte Cristo. And, 3) He's a gamer and will do his best to do justice to the series. Henry Cavill teases 'secret project' that might involve Mass Effect | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM The actor posted an image on his Instagram that contains blurry text about Mass Effect 3.

Buh byez. Casey leaving was him saying, "F*ck this. Can't get it to work under these conditions." EA cancels Anthem’s big revamp but will keep the game running WWW.THEVERGE.COM Nearly two years after the game released.

where's @Kemp210 or @RedBeardCG

That's super amazing! I'm super jealous on those times! But, I also hate running hahaha. Congrats on all the hard work. I didn't scroll up, but what are your goals?

We need a launch base/outpost for the Second Boss fight on Sunday... so, I'll go in that direction before I go south.
