We haven't gamed much but the very few times we did makes it so I feel comfortable saying fair play to you. You've handled it like a boss and in fairness, better than I could. FG is a family and you're never alone in your struggles, even if it sometimes feels that way ❤

Yea.  Title pretty much sums it up but here goes..
 
First off.  I’d like to apologize to damn near everyone a part of the clan for my behaviour over the last 4-6 weeks.  As some, if not all know, I’ve been clean and sober now for almost 15 months.  Great in the short term and I honestly thought I was handling it fine.  I haven’t had a sip of booze in that time nor have I gone to other means such as drugs..  
 
But the past month or so have really put my head in a very shitty place.  I’m not going to get into details but there’s been a lot of personal/work/life stuff that’s bombarded me all in a very short time and I’ve had a hell of a time coping with all of it.  Not too mention that my anxiety is utterly through the roof..  I’ve always had bad bouts when I’ve got health concerns and such but with all this happening in such a short span, it’s really done a number on my nerves.  The old me would’ve grabbed a case of beer and drank my worries away but that me is dead.  The new me is having a hell of a time trying to deal with a lot of this crap and it’s put me in a really anti-social behaviour.  
 
Not only that, but trivial and very minor things that shouldn’t bother me at all have ended up really pissing me off or put my mood into a darker set then I normally am.  
 
I don’t like that.  
 
A lot of you that have known me for quite sometime KNOW how I am.  The Batman, Micheal Caine happy go lucky guitar playing, impressionist that can be the life of an FG Friday and put a smile on someone’s face when they feel down.  
 
I haven’t been that lately and I need to do something about it.  It’s started to effect a lot of the folks in this group that I consider friends and I can’t let that continue.  It’s not fair for me to inadvertently take out the shitty things going on in my life on any of you.  We’re all here to have fun enjoying the hobby we all share.  If anything, I should’ve been more social and up front with my issues rather then trying to push everyone away.  That’s my bad and I truly would like to apologize for being that asshole as of late.  I know it’s not much but right now, it’s all I can offer.  I know I fucked up and I’m working to fix that.  
 
I figured I’d let you all know. 
 
I’m incredibly thankful I have my wife Sarah @Rumelylady in my life whose been by my side when I’ve been shedding tears from being overwhelmed by all this bullshit to helping me find ways to cope with all this mental trash without resorting to my old habits.  I feel I would be in a much darker place if I didn’t have her today.  
 
So, yea… Im working on my mental health.  I want to get back to what normal feels like in my eyes.  I’m finding ways to help cope with it and I felt this would be one way to do that.  The road’s never clear and there’s always gonna be bumps..  I just ended up in a landslide and I’m digging my way out right now.

The last few months has been hopefully more uplifting for you all as we enter many places nearing the end of some/most social distancing rules and also with the fantastic run the English side were on throughout the whole of Euro 2020 (in 2021, still can't get over the name not changing!). We're also entering holiday season for many of us across the world too and I think it'll be good to get some fresh air and experience some of the places we haven't been able to the past 18 months.
 
That being said, there's a few things upcoming at FG to keep an eye out for as we go under some significant changes I've wanted for many years.
 
Achievements/Ranks/Gamerscore
 
I've wanted some form of an FG Gamerscore for a while as an incentive to make things fun and interesting when you come back to the Home of FG, as well as having fun online in FG Games. With the next software update, we'll imminently have a new ranking system that links to points. Some might remember I tried a while back but didn't quite work as there wasn't enough resources at the time. Now, we can take advantage of some cool updates that are all integrated with the Home of FG. A sneak peak of how things will start to look are below. This is something that will help us all realise there's always been way more to FG than just a few forum posts. 'Levelling Up' with FG can actually be a real possibility which i'm super hyped for!
 

 
Medals/Badges
 
With brand new ranks and levels to chase, come Medals to earn. You could argue its similar to Triumphs on many games we play mentioning no names *Desti..cough cough*. These will be things that you can earn that will give bonus points that goes towards your overall FG Gamerscore. Some will be very basic, like opening post, creating topics, and just by visiting FG everyday but some might make you look across FG, creating interesting stuff for all to see, maybe in Videos, Quizzes, Polls, etc. Equally, I want to create Medals to earn that are a part of the joy we bring online with us all. We have some featured FG Games already and would love to expand on this over time. For example, we could have some that relate to our GT Sport league races, FIFA Monday Night Football, Destiny Raid Nights and of course, any games we play on FG Fridays. These are supposed to be cool things to chase for fun and show off between us all and the more we can make, the more exciting it will be to interact and get around all the games we play together. These will also show on your profile and I intend to have a page where you can find descriptions of Medals you can earn. Please be aware though....there will be hidden ones you'll have to find! Maybe checking other people's profiles over time will help you work out what's achievable!
 

 

 
Push Notifications to Mobile devices
 
This one makes me happy beyond belief. I think one thing is noticeable that many like to be nudged by a pop up on their phone if they've been tagged or quoted somewhere or maybe even if they've received a reaction. It reminds us that FG is around as it can slip people's minds sometimes as we have our normal lives to deal with. Notifications can be switched on so you'll need to accept to receive push notifications for your mobile, once live. The only restriction i've been made aware of is (as usual) is Safari on Apple devices. I mean, you should be downloading Chrome anyway these days, even on Apple devices because Safari kills souls over time. More details to follow on how to make sure you get all the notifications!

In conjunction with the notifications, you should get opportunity to add FG as a homepage on your phone. This will make FG look and feel exactly like an App would and far better than the Tapatalk one we had in the past. You can then also see notifications linked to it, like your apps do. I really want as many of us to take up these so you don't miss out on any FG action and it helps me not have to nag/nudge/annoy the crap out of you on other platforms!
 

 
In other news.....
 
We also have some amazing FGFGF news we can now share as some of you already know, which will highlight how important you all are to continuing to donate to the cause of making people smile and feel good. We have GT Sport Summer Season starting this week and want as many to turn up each week to enjoy the fun and learn where we can FG Fridays will be back up in advance on the Event Calendar so we can all make sure to nudge your best FGer and get them to get online where we can - the aim has to be a huge 20-30 plus lobby of all of us on the games we now have to offer (Fall Guys, Bomberman, Among Us, Battlefield 5, Wreckfest, GTA Races, CoD MW Remastered) Raids every week on Destiny for anyone that wants help and just all round general fun running more and more of them More regular Quizzes to play!  
There's probably more (there always is!) but i've probably worn you out with the essay as usual 😄 All i'll ask is to be patient with us over the next 4 weeks as you see things subtely changing and there may be some down time as we update many of the applications and software we have behind the scenes. It'll be all worth the wait i'm sure!

So I just loaded up Fall Guys. The issue originally was that you could only have 4 in a party to go into a public game. They have now added the ability to create custom lobbies with up to 60 players. This has good potential for drunken casual FG Friday fun

Hi All,
 
With the Euros approaching in the summer, I figured we could hold our own set of international matches for the build up!
 
I'm setting up a FIFA league, made up from teams participating in the Euros. I'll organize the fixtures (aiming for 1 or 2 a week if you can give me your thoughts), and keep an updated table.
 
Obviously this is all for fun, but in order to keep everything fair I will be randomly generating fixtures for 3 placement matches. Based on the results (which I will ask you to send me privately) you will randomly be selected a team from one of the below tiers, with the better players being given more difficult teams. Again this is for fun, so I'm trusting everyone to try their best in these placement matches! There are a few teams left over, so in the event any more people want to join, we can do a reshuffle here.

Looking at @GazzaGarratt most recent topic about the reveal of Battlefield 6 coming soon.... A few of us thought it would be great to start investing a little time into the current title.
 
Let's face it, BV wasn't at its peak when it first came out with some horrible glitches, horrible wait time on matchmaking etc but that has all been fixed now and honestly makes for a fantastic multilayer game which is very much based on choosing the right load out for your character, whether it be, Assault, Medic, Support or Recon, all each have their perks to help out the team.
 
I've spoken with Cal and he says a few are up for a game tonight, Ste definitely, Maybe Marc and Aaron, also spoken with James and Jordie who might be up for it so we could possibly have 7, if anyone else would be interested In joining us, I would definitely suggest purchasing EA Play as it is only £3.99 a month and you got a fantastic amount of games, such as BV, Battlefront 2, Titanfall 2 (Another we might be playing soon) NHL, Fifa, UFC and so much more. In my opinion it's definitely worth the price unlike PS Now which is definitely overpriced at £8 a month and not much on their.

Race 1 - Catalunya Gr.3
I don't dislike this track as much as some though since they added the chicane in the last sector it is very mickey mouse.  I wish more games would give the option of running the Moto GP layout which does (did?) run the older double right handers rather than the chicane.  A pretty quiet race night for me all told, qualifying started off badly with a penalty on my first flying lap meaning I was about a second off my pace.  Lap 2 of qualifying saw me get a good lap in, a few tenths off my PB but good enough pole which was going to be important as Phil had said it was to be a rolling start.  Lee had me worried at the start though he gained 1.5-2 tenths down the straight as I think the Peugeot is fast in a straight line but a tow helped but thankfully Lee didn't go full Mike.  I knew my laps were faster than Lee so it then was a case of keeping it clean to avoid any offs or a penalty.
 

 
Race 2 - Dragon Trail Seaside Gr2
Again contrary to some, I don't particularly like this track, to be quick means taking specific lines which get even slightly wrong means a spin or the wall.  Still, a few laps of practice saw me get the fastest time which carried over in to qualifying.  This race featured tyre wear which I'd done no practice on but thankfully it was only mediums and hard so was going to be a case of run mediums until they're dead then hards to the end.  Qualifying came and similar to practice, I got pole by just over 2 seconds so stupid me though easy win....until the race start.  Unlike Catalunya this was a standing start which I messed up royally and bogged down losing a few places and in the pack going through the chicane lost a couple more putting me down in 5th or 6th by the end of the first sector of lap 1.  Still I knew my laps were faster and 13 laps would be enough to make that up if I didn't hang around so I went straight on the offensive.  I got back up to 4th by the line and right on the tail of Kiwi in third while Mike was trying to make a break in the lead and Lee holding second and claiming he was going to do all he could to hold up Kiwi and myself.  Then T1 of lap 2 came,  my plan was to follow Kiwi through T1 and try an overtake at the chicane or following hairpin but Kiwi braked considerably more than I expected so a quick dive to the inside avoided heavy contact but still saw some door to door and Kiwi running a bit wide.  At the same time Lee was stacking it in to the barriers to meaning up to second I went.  At this point I think was 6 or 7 seconds behind Mike and I think it was lap 5 I sneaked passed and then held the lead until the end.

Great racing last night everyone. Only time for 2 races, which was outlined tbh, but I know sometimes people hope for an extra race or two if possible. I think in future weeks, as the newer people keep coming on and get used to the racing, alongside buying more cars, we can have slightly less Practice time moving forward.
 
Race 1 - Circuit de Barcelona - Catalunya
 
After practice looking likely that @Greboth would take this at a stroll as no one could get under 1.48 or any consistency so he had a 2 seconds advantage...and Qualifying proved that right as @JBR-Kiwi  unfortunately got kicked for some reason mid-way through it. I ended up struggling to get a good lap in until the final chance, beating @Mikepjbell  by 0.002 even with a small penalty picked up on my last flying lap. Paul @slamminbones  and Matty @Misneach_  had some cracking laps and had started to shine through after working really hard over the last few weeks to improve their times and consistency. New to the fold, Rich @tronic44 and Cal @TheMuggySpud  came a very respectable 8th and 9th out of 11 racers - our largest number to date.
 
Unfortunately, Matty couldn't keep the consistency up by spinning out later in the 4 lap race and ended up 9th. I kept with Greebs for a few corners but the gap grew enough to be out of slipstream even though it never wasn't a huge gap (+7.67s at the end). Mike performed well considering he said something about hating this track 🤣 as his lap times were very quick and was on my tail for the most part whilst keeping @phil bottle at bay on the first lap - he unexpectedly dropped down to 8th overall after struggling to keep the car on track. Tom's @LordBaguette night went far better than he had probably first thought after gaining a few places to just finish behind Paul in 5th. Paul's consistency was great to see, especially after trying so hard to learn the tracks and cars from the back of the grid last few Tuesdays. Cal couldn't keep up his great start after a valiant effort however Rich did manage a great 7th place only just behind Harold @Spacedeck  that had to work really hard on an unforgiving track starting 10th on the grid.
 
Race 2 - Dragon Tail - Gardens
 
Gr.2 cars really make for erratic racing and all over the shop results don't they?🤣 One of Mike's favourite tracks and cars (Honda NSX) didn't pan out exactly how he wanted as he started 3rd on Qualifying but took an early lead in the 12 lap race. Tom was showing some amazing speed, Qualifying 5th and then taking 3rd place in the race for the early laps. Unfortunately hit the outside barrier on the fast first corner and that was enough for him to take an early bath; shame as how the race panned out i'm pretty sure he would've secured that spot later on after pit stops. Kiwi also struggled like mad, partly because of knocks early on but he was struggling with the car in most places dipping up and down the order which then saw him follow Tom to the bathroom.
 
Greebs had to work a little harder for his win this time round, only re-taking the lead half way through the race. Mike couldn't hold on and after Phil's slow start dropping back a few places from 4th, he managed to sneak up into 2nd, past myself Matty and Mike in the second part of the race. Matty had a dream race where his lap times finally came hot and made minimal mistakes. Even when did make one near the end, it didn't matter because Mike and myself were making too many through the final stages. I always struggled on this track to keep lap times quick so a quick 2 pit stops in multiple laps to get the Hard tyre out of the way and back on Medium felt better so i could have more grip. I gained over 13 seconds on Matty and Mike up until the final few corners where Mike spun allowing me to pass, yet for me to squander it down the drain and spin just behind him. Paul (6th) and Harold (7th) struggled to hold the car on the track in most places but understandable as we don't do many Gr.2 races and it felt like a very hard race to keep the cars on the track at all times.
 
Great racing, super improvements made by all and great to see 2 new faces again. Hopefully more of the same and we get more than 11 on the track next Tuesday!
