    Retro Revists

I so want a Steam Deck. I wonder how many sexual favours I'll need to perform in order to get one? Man, the first time playing Halo on xbox was one of those sweet gaming memories of mine. The music, look, and feel of the game was so awesome at the time. I really dug CoD 2 but man, I hated 3.

I play Halo Combat Evolved (not the MCC edition), Halo Custom Edition and Call of Duty 2 Multiplayer on PC. I'm playing through Call of Duty 3 on my X360 and just started Championship Jockey on X360 today. I remember CoD3 being shown at E3 and I was very impressed with what was being shown. I never did get around to getting the game though until I bought it not long ago cheaply.

As there is nothing much worth playing for me right now, I've spent the last couple of weeks revisiting (and finishing) some classics which has been great fun:- Max Payne (2001) Max Payne 2 (2003) Alan Wake (2010) All these are Remedy titles who are a popular developer of the past two decades and have really unique titles that have really stood the test of time. Next on my list is Condemned: Criminal Origins (2006) which was title from the early Xbox 360 days which I've picked up on PC. Didn't get around to playing it back in the day but it's made by the same team that did FEAR so I'm definitely looking forward to it despite its age. Anyone got any old games on the go that they are working through right now or recently? I'm enjoying doing this than forcing myself to play some generic new release.

  6. For the tl;dr Selling cars will be happening. New tracks. New cars. New events. 1m credits. Dear Gran Turismo Community, Thank you for your continued support and feedback on Gran Turismo 7, your voices have not gone unheard. I would like to apologize for the frustration and confusion caused last week with our patch updates which resulted in, not only a server outage but also adjustments to the in-game economy which were made without a clear explanation to our community. We know that this is not the Gran Turismo experience you expect and we will be making a goodwill gesture in the form of a non-paid credit pack of 1 million Cr. available to those players who may have been affected*. You will see this hit your accounts shortly. Make sure you log into the game before April 25 to claim the credits. The patch update previously deployed was intended to rectify an issue with inconsistent reward payouts within a part of the World Circuit Events. But, to re-establish the intended equilibrium and provide more accurate rewards based on time investment and completion, it was necessary to recalculate the rewards system as a whole. To improve the player experience, we will be rolling out a considerable patch in the beginning of April. The number of events will be increased, and we will reestablish the reward system with greater balance throughout the game to benefit all players. Updates which will come into effect beginning of April: Increase rewards in the events in the latter half of the World Circuits by approximately 100% on average. Addition of high rewards for clearing the Circuit Experience in all Gold/All Bronze results. Increase of rewards in Online Races. Include a total of eight new one-hour Endurance Race events to Missions. These will also have higher reward settings. Increase the upper limit of non-paid credits in player wallets from 20M Cr. to 100M Cr. Increase the quantity of Used and Legend cars on offer at any given time. Beyond this there will be a few additional patches deployed between now and the end of April which will add new cars and tracks and make some other fixes. Finally, we also want to take the opportunity to lay out some of the near-term updates we are working on. We can’t confirm an exact date or specifics yet, but will give advance notice via www.gran-turismo.com. Increase the payout value of limited time rewards as we develop as a live service. Further World Circuit event additions. Addition of Endurance Races to Missions including 24-hour races. Addition of Online Time Trials and awarding of rewards according to the player’s difference with the top ranked time. Make it so cars can be sold. We want to thank you for your continued patience and valuable feedback as we grow and evolve GT7 to make it as enjoyable and rewarding for as many players as possible. We always want to keep communication lines open with our community so that we can work together to build the best racing experience possible.

Major public event going on right now across 4 days or so - one of the first in-person showcases since Covid and interest seems so minimal. Considering this is the PS5/Series X era, you'd expect projects aplenty and huge intrigue yet all we seem to be getting is free updates, DLC, space games galore and the same titles we've known for almost 18 months being promoted still. There really isn't much on the horizon to be excited about in the gaming landscape it seems. A couple of big names like God of War and then others that have style but questionable substance like Forspoken. It's just staggering to see interest so flat and a really mediocre line-up. Maybe there will be a few sleeper hits but other than that, we may be 4 years away from anything truly next gen and original. The Matrix tech demo from last year is about as good as it's gotten of late.

We talked a bit about it today for the next Dice to Pixels episode. I've got my eyes on quite a few games that were shown there, but I'm also annoyed with cinematic trailers that show NO GAMEPLAY!! Looking at you Atlas Fallen. 🤬

Steam deck has surprised me, I'm really enjoying the array of different games I can play on it. It's not for shooters without kb&m as peripherals, but it has made me playing games I haven't touched. For example, I'd never gotten around to playing Call of Cthulhu but I'm loving it on the deck, particularly late at night before bed. The sound is amazing too btw.

How is the steam deck Phil? I have looked at them but not sure how much use it will get, I already neglect the xbox series S as I have a switch and PS5... As far as retro games go, it is something I have been leaning into more, the games tend to be more varied, with older retro they are also shorter which means I do also get to complete them. The 360 / PS3 era is some of the best as far as games go, the PS4 will feel quite stagnant when we look back at it I think as we haven't seen many jumps forward (the VR being the obvious exception). But as far as game content goes we seem to have plateaued a little bit.

I'm glad I have a big back catalogue 😁 These summer months it's been too hot to switch the PC on but there's nothing new to entice me anyway. Starfield and S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 are 2023 releases and nothing else grabs my attention.

I'm playing GTA4 on the Steam Deck. Pretty awesome. Also Bit Blaster XL which is a retro style game going back in time to the Asteroids era.

  18. I couldn't see what specifically they are doing to this? Hopefully it will add something like Qualifying though as I missed that the other night with us. Other than that, looks like welcomed changes all round. It says from beginning 1st April but we had a patch didn't we already for GT this past week? I wonder if selling cars will be for all cars, gifted and bought too.

  20. Let's hope they also work on the lobby system and make it as functional as GT Sport...
