So I didn't realise Density had micro transactions. Engrams that can boost your stats will be available to buy.

Was this also the case with the first game?

You get the engrams for free for leveling up also. You get one every level. Then the only items it gives you that really useful are weapon mods. I wouldn't say it's pay to win.

The possible contents of Bright Engrams include the following:

  • Ability cooldown armour mods: "Chance to contain an armour mod that decreases the cooldown of one Arc, Solar, or Void subclass ability." Can affect Super, grenade, or melee abilities.
  • Character stats armour mods: "Chance to contain an armour mod that slightly enhances a character stat." Can affect resilience (increases shield HP), mobility (increases movement speed), or recovery (shields regenerate faster).
  • Weapon stats armour mods: "Chance to contain an armour mod that slightly enhances the weapon stats of an equipped Primary, Energy, or Power weapon." Can affect handling (equip speed), stability (recoil strength), and reload speed (obvious).
  • Elemental weapon mods: "Chance to contain a weapon mod that changes the element of an Energy or Power weapon."

Not exacty a pay pay to win philosophy

You can buy these tings with real money apparently. Article as follows:

In its present setup its not bad IMO

If it goes further down the path though, then yea, it will be P2W

Right now its not even as bad as Warframe

I don't see this as pay to win, there's still RNG to get through to get anything useful, and it's all available from grinding anyway.

In a free to play game I don't have a problem with it.

In a paid game I do, particularly if this is just the thin end of the wedge.

It's a trend I don't like and I see a few paid games doing this recently (new Shadow of War game is taking it even further) but hey, each to their own.

Just watching closely to hopefully see it won't escalate. It's a choice but it mustn't mess with the basic fundamentals of RNG grind.

I look at it it this way, basically all games like Destiny would be better as subscription based tather than current model of big upfront price, which is always a bit of a gamble. Subscription based is harder for the developer to fund, but does keep them honest and engaged, they have to keep pushing content out, which is good for us

And micro transactions are a bit of a step down that subscription pathway, not totally, but it's people putting cash to the developers post launch, so the developers keep at least a bit focused on the game.

So so I don't see it as all bad, especially the way it is in destiny, where it's not outright selling the best guns to people who can afford it.

Maybe it cuts the grind out a little bit for those people who are cash rich, but time poor, but realistically Bungie ain't going to ignore that market

But they didn't do that for Destiny 1, we saw nothing big coming from the Ever-verse shop, so that funding future development was bullshit.

It's bollocks anyway when all expansion packs have to be paid for. These sort of things are purely to line somebody's pockets.

Not surprised at all really. This is Activision afterall and they know that they can charge £50 for a game, £40 for season passes and still have £5-50 worth of in-game purchases and despite all the flack; it wont affect the brand or stop people throwing money at them. I don't really know at this time how it will impact the game but they will attempt to maximise income by putting top-end material behind paywalls I expect. It might not be as prominent or important in this game when compared to Call of Duty as that is strictly PvP where P2W matters but offering shortcuts from the grind or gear for cash would damage the whole point of the experience in Destiny 2 . If this gets any worse i.e a supply drop format is introduced; I will not buy the game.

Who cares, youre all still gonna play it ;-)

I absoloutely prefer it this way. You have overall more control. You can finish one guy off first, or all ten
