I’ve thought long and hard about what I want to say and how to say it but I still can’t really believe that this is what it’s come to so I’m just going to blurt out some random thought and hope it makes sense. First off, the forum took me forever to get to where it is. It couldn’t have been done without all the support from you guys both financially, technically and emotionally (yes, really). The forum is neat and tidy with no ads and no issues. Yes it’s not always been plain sailing and yes we’ve had issues but we’re now back to normal and business as usual. If you guys want to ditch the last two years of posts, history, arguments and general FG nonsense because we lost one week of posts then there’s not much I can do to stop you. It seems that the decision has already been made by some and it seems that these people are also using the perfectly functioning existing forum to PM everyone to hop over. Fair enough, I can’t stop you but I will say that my respect has fallen off a cliff. I made it very clear that I didn’t want to use a free forum because I don’t like the URL and don’t want ads. If you want to roll with a free forum then the least you can do out of respect is come up with your own name as I'd rather not that FG be tainted with being split in half.


We have been through so much as a community, more than 99% of what gaming communities have gone through and we’ve always come put the other end fighting. Some folks in this thread will know first hand the amount of support offered by some of the longer standing members of FG and nobody has batted an eyelid. It’s always been a case of Guardian Down and we rally to get on top of it and help any downed guardians regardless of what life has thrown at them. 

To then ditch it all for a technical malfunction is a bit ironic really. I don’t support this and will under no circumstances accept any reference from this to the real FG. I have said numerous times in the WhatsApp group that I will get it sorted when I have time, I didn’t really have time to do it today but I just hid away at work and did what I could because I was already picking up hints about this happening. 

I’m genuinely at a loss as to why this has had to get this far but then I can’t really be arsed playing teacher so if you want to play in another sandpit then by all means go ahead. 

I’ll continue maintaining FG as I have for the last few years and ensure that it gets kept up to date and malware free.

I've made my stance clear, I will under absolutely no circumstances allow the FG name to be tainted by a split, drama or a free forum stuffed with ads or spam in my inbox because of it. I've already had a quick nose around the new forum and found a shitload of functionality missing from the free stuff so if folks want to roll with that then that's cool, but I will not allow the last few years to be thrown in the bin because of a technical glitch.

I'm going to keep this forum as my main base but I will dabble on the other side as a guest to stay in touch with folks.

Some of you may have noticed my lack of forum input of late. That's got nothing to do with the site problems but now I'm not at work sitting in front of a PC all day I don't tend to surf as much. The dreaded WhatsApp is used to stay in contact with family as well as the banter so proper interwebz surfing has declined.

Really hope that our friendships will remain because we are basically good for each other. Maybe a foot on each camp is the answer? IDK :-(

I don't think anyone wants a split. The way I understand it is that this forum wasn't working properly. We didn't hear anything from Dids about it. So in order to keep the clan/forum/family together, some members started up a free one to have as backup. I don't know how this turned into a negative thing. Hope it all smoothes out one way or another. I have no hard feelings towards anyone here or there. I'm sure we will sort this out as a family. We've gone through much worse. We will make it through this.

I was surprised when I got the email notifying me and wondered if anything had gone on regarding fallout as like dave my browsing time has greatly diminished due to my move onto days at work, phone use is frowned upon and I spend more free time lately catching up with stuff I would have done at work.

Tbh how we keep in touch is less important than actually keeping in touch as for me it's not the forum activity I miss as much as the gaming time we all had so hopefully there's a title that comes along soon that had the destiny reaction...

I'm not going anywhere. At my age I stopped playing the taking sides thing long ago. People need to realize that life happens and running a website is not always on the front burner. Running off and starting a new site isn't the answer. Talk it out and work it out, no need for people to resort to childish behavior and hurt feelings. If someone not keeping a website updated with the latest patches and such is the biggest issue in your life then I can say I sure wish my life were that simple. It already happened once with MW2, now some guys are doing it here with FG, so what a couple years from now they will do it again and abandon the site Jay set up and leave him too? Guess all that talk from some people about this place being like a family was all BS from the looks of it.

 

I'll be here same as always. If it ever stops being enjoyable then I will stop visiting plain as that, but till that day I'm not going anywhere.

You'll notice that you got a notification from me quoting your post. The new software is filled with loads of little features like that, it's genuinely impressive. I haven't even touched some of the options yet, I'm still waiting for the duse to settle and sort out the niggles before I really go to town exploring what the software can do.
